That's one reason I like Reddit. There's often good information and discussion in the comments.

Those helicopters he posted are flying LOW to avoid radar on the coast of Crimea. They're so close to shore because radar works a little better over water. What a crazy sight. Their drills on the border have so far been visible.

Still no word on where those evacuees have been taken.

He also put out a video addressing Russians and well... its bad. I watched some of it. The translation may not be 100% accurate but it's enough to get the gist of what he's saying. The translated description is fairly accurate. He's justifying annexation.

Its so mind-blowing. Biden gets blamed if it rains. He gets blamed if it doesn't rain.

He's certainly not my favorite president and I think he's ineffective and too conservative, but there is literally nothing more he could have done short of ceding to Putin's demands. And even then, he would have to convince other NATO allies to stop expansion. And then Putin would've invaded anyway, because that's the most beneficial thing he could do in his eyes. This is an ideological battle against a man trying to rebuild his country. His hour long history lesson this week made that explicitly clear.

They're not 'defending' Ukraine per se, they are defending the idea of the sovereignty. NATO will not be sending troops.

It sets a bad precedent to allow world leaders to send 70-80% of their military to annex another country. America DOES invade other countries and set up puppet governments, but they don't invade like this. They do not annex and haven't since the 1800's. Putin is using an absolutely ridiculous amount of force and is blatantly threatening world war. In these last days Putin has vaguely referenced an attack on America specifically. Cyber or military, we don't know. It is terrifying.

Putin has a TRACK RECORD of invading and annexing land from other countries. We KNOW he wants more because the Russian military teaches, in books, that they live in a 'downfallen empire' that will one day rise again. Moscow, the third Rome. He WILL invade other countries. How many should NATO 'let him' invade? Putin needs to feel economic pressure from the oligarchs to stop this war. Sanctions do that. It's easier for the west to hurt Russia economically than it is for Russia to hurt the west.

Did NATO lie about stopping expansion? Yes. But NATO expansion is not annexation. It's a diplomatic agreement that all nations involved signed off on. You really cannot compare Russian military incursions to diplomatic agreements. It's a false equivalence.

Ukraine has been independent for over 30 years and should be left alone. Ukrainians overwhelmingly have voted to be left alone. They voted to join NATO in a non-binding referendum (official poll more or less). In 2019 the Ukrainian government made a constitutional change in order to attempt to join NATO. Which NATO NEVER offered because of this exact situation that's happening now. It was NEVER on the table for Ukraine, it was purely Ukrainians who wanted it and were not able to get it.

The time for Russia to re-absorb its satellite states is long gone. Putin is doing this because the 2019 constitutional change is unacceptable to him. Democracy, is unacceptable to him.

I was reading some posts from Ukrainians in r/Ukraine last night. Many are talking about fleeing to Romania or Poland. Some are asking for help. There was a flood of posts after the bombing started and I saw a lot of people who said they heard the blasts. I've never seen so much fear in one forum. Their country is being attacked.

It's a sad time for the world.
