Just a quick question
I have a friend that struggles with alcoholism, and he says that kratom isn't helpful. I've read that kava can be excellent for mediating alcohol withdrawals and work as a solid replacement/remedy for the issue, is that true? If so, where should I grab some for him?

Re: Just a quick question
I like Kalm with Kava. It's a good first kava buy and they have lots of cool products besides just raw kava. I like the micronized powder a lot.
I do think it's an OKAY replacement for alcohol. It's like drinking 1 light beer, which is enough to keep anxiety at bay and muffle cravings.
I would NOT use it to avoid withdrawals. You need a stronger GABAergic to taper or truly relieve withdrawal. Doctors would prescribe something like naltrexone which would work to block cravings and wd effects. Absolutely don't replace kava for serious alcohol addiction if you want to avoid the risk of developing seizures. The scary thing about seizures is that once you have your first one, it's highly likely you'll have more. I've had friends go through it.
Also if it doesn't help your friend at first, remember to tell them that it creates reverse tolerance. The more kava you drink, the more receptors it creates. It's kind of weird but an important thing to remember when trying it for the first time.
Good luck to you and your friend!
