Have you heard that UK has the MRNA but USA has just regular flu shots. Also Africa has their own too, its even labeled not for USA or Europe. I don't think USA will have many deaths from the shots compared to other country's. Sorry nothing to back up. Just what I heard from alternatives. I really hope no one here on kratom forum has any reactions to what ever they decide to get.
Pfeizer and Moderna are both mRNA. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine is a killed virus vaccine, like the flu vaccine.

The wife & I received our 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Mon 3/8(we're both 65+). No problems-our arms were kinda sore & I had some minor achy knees for about 36 hours. Woohoo it makes me happy!

Cool to see everyone here. And getting some kind of vaccine. @herbalhippie, here in CA they said we would not get shots until July and we now have J & J at our local Rite Aid. Wished I would’ve waited for just one shot over 2. Moderna. Most of our town in the latter ages has gotten one shot of two. Most of the side effect for the majority is sore arm and needing lots of sleep for the few days immediately following.

I’ve heard that NSAIDS like ibuprofen should be avoided before the shot, and I was also told by a nice nurse who thinks it won’t be as sufficient if kratom use is continued. She recommended waiting before and after for maximum absorption. It was only this one nurse posting about it and then she vacated the discussion. I’m pretty sure nobody knows ANYTHING about kratom in relation to the virus and or the vaccine(s).

Has everyone been coping well?

HOPE SO, 🙏🙏🤞🤞

Good for you!! :D

I'm supposed to be getting the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow and I'm getting nervous because I'm immunocompromised; guess I'm worried that I'll somehow end up with a full-blown case of COVID.

Well, that's just...... huh? "absorption?" I can't tell if she's talking about the vaccine or the kratom

Yay, Greyfeather getting the second shot. I’m getting moderna shot 2 in a few weeks still.

The nurse posted on one of the forums that she thinks that the vaccine will not be properly absorbed if kratom is in the system. This assumption is from her reading about the warnings to avoid ibuprofen or Tylenol before the shot. After is apparently fine. But she said kratom is likely absorbed similarly to ibuprofen. And NSAIDS are also not recommended. She failed to provide any reference to that. Her posts were to suggest to err on the side of caution. She was not panicky or malicious.

I’m not any more educated on the subject myself. I took it like religious beliefs - we are all free to believe what we wanna believe (I miss Tom Petty). I don’t HAVE TO HAVE kratom at all costs, but I have more functional and more comfortable days when using kratom, so I made no change to my kratom routine for the covid-19 vaccination. I plan to continue to respect the unknown by wearing masks and washing hands frequently anyway.

That might be interesting to pose to the forum. What does everyone else expect they will do after fully vaccinated?

I hope your vaccination is hardly noticeable after the fact, Greyfeather. From what I recall, you have been touched incredibly hard with this whole COVID-19 situation and could use a break. I’ll be thinking of you with good juju.

I dosed some kratom the morning of my second shot. My wife does not consume kratom. I did have some mild reactions as I mentioned previously and she only had pain at her injection site. Wishing you well with your vaccine.

Oh ok i think i was thinking about Johnson one, thanks for correcting. Also from all the research i did, Moderna is more safe then Pfeizer. Pfeizer will give you tons of issues years to come. Moderna not as much but still issues may arise.

Thank you, Laurie! You are very kind to think of me :)

The COVID-poke wasn't too scary (although the nurse couldn't tell me if I was at-risk). We both shrugged our shoulders, laughed, and got on with it. I couldn't lift my arm for 48 hours though!!

I think you may be thinking of our herbal hippie. This virus didn't spare her or her family members. I don't think I could have handled any of that very well.

So cool to read everyone is getting vaccinated! While I’m not a fan of all vaccines, I’m glad there aren’t too many political arguments about vaxxing or not.

My condolences to those who have lost loved ones and to all of those who have still got loved ones battling the virus.

It should be a welcome opportunity to watch little kids do egg hunts without fear of their getting germs! What a treat to see the faces!

(I’m actually not a big fan of kids, either, lol) but Easter Hunting kids is like the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and I can totally understand why people have them (kids). I’m probably just jealous. And kids are too smart to fall for bs. When I was actively drinking and abusing opiates, they scared me because they KNEW I was a mess. I thought the adults were somehow fooled. Now I know the adults ALSO KNEW and I wasn’t fooling anyone. But I was using SOMETHING during the entire decades where child bearing would have been possible, so I made sure to not get knocked up. I didn’t want to pass addiction on to another kid. I’ll be lonely in my old age. But I wasn’t qualified to be a parent and I’m glad I didn’t try.

So to those who have the little ones, THANKS! I can enjoy watching you watching those kids run around. Wearing masks and hand washing should not be a big deal for those of us not yet fully vaccinated! And those of us who have.

I can’t wait to scroll through this thread a bit more thoroughly to hear how everyone is doing with going back to work n having worked this whole time n stuff. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my chronic pain, even with kratom. So my stamina has been the pits. Plus I have a nasty case of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and I don’t get any true relief until the hummingbirds start zipping around like George Jetson!

So I get to visit here more often! Weird how that even affects simple stuff like reading posts online.

How is the Cheesecake Factory?!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate. Happy weekend to those who don’t!

See you around!

Laurie

I got my second shot Friday. Last Monday my granddaughter that lives with us tested positive, so I was glad to have had the first vaccine several weeks ago. She tested negative yesterday and I tested negative today, so I think we're all good now for a while. My son and hubby both have their vaccines completed too.

It's 75 here today, the flowers are blooming, the stock market is up, and I'm feeling really optimistic for a change! I might even plan a vacation to the beach soon!

Hey Laurie!

Your posts always give me a lift - THANKS :D
I chose a life without children also. It would have been next to impossible anyway but I have no regrets. And having kids is no guarantee against loneliness later on, unfortunately.

Jeastrice, hh and MetalMamma YAY! Welcome the Jabby-Jab club. We're all gettin' poked for the cause  .

I got my second Pfizer last week and the burden feels a little bit lighter. Now we just have to keep in mind that we can still catch COVID and pass it on to others. Then there are those sneaky variants.

We are having the most beautiful weather today so I'm guessing it'll be an early summer. I hope it will be a LONG one too.

I got my second dose of Moderna a few weeks ago and it was really rough for me. High fever for a couple of days and my body felt like it had been run over by a truck. It was terrible and my side effects lasted for about 5-7 days after my 2nd shot. My dad just got his second dose of Pfizer and he has felt totally fine. My mom also got Moderna and had the same side effects that I had.

My mom got the pfizer vaccine and had flu-like symptoms for several days after her second dose. I had a headache and my blood pressure shot up after my 2nd pfizer dose, which my symptoms may not have been vacc6vrelated, who knows?

The side effects seem to be like covid itself, all over the place from zero effects to making people feel really bad.

He had a lot of underlying probs, the vaccine could have weakened him more, maybe, but healthy people shouldn't be afraid of getting vaccinated.

I find it strange that people try to convince everyone covid is not a threat, everyone survives it, etc., but then are afraid the vaccine is deadly.

Not me. Not even slightly hella. This "information" you are "citing" is a rumor coming from an unnamed source quoted in a gossip magazine that has published inaccurate information on more than one occasion. As of this writing, there's no evidence that COVID-19 or a COVID-19 vaccine played any part in DMX's death.

Actually having COVID19 has been shown to damage heart tissue in some patients but getting the vaccine will not cause a heart attack

How do you know what a mild case of covid feels like if you've never had covid? Many people are asymptomatic, relative speaking maybe its a moderate case or typical case of covid. And since we've completely altered our lives doing much harm in the process to avoid getting covid , why rush to go get jabbed with what is even a subjective mild case of covid. Why not just wait till you get covid? Or maybe never get covid. I wouldn't rule it out,, but I haven't gotten in yet. Then you develop the antibodies to become immune for a period of time to covid. Why is it a conspiracy theory to believe our immune systems can do the job they were designed to do?
I'm for people getting the vaccine if that is what they want to do. Or not if that's what they want to do.

So if you've had it already don't you develop immunity? At least for a period of time? Maybe the answer is still uncertain but I seem to get conflicting answers or none at all on this and I feel like it's an important question.

Read the whole thread, you might learn something.

You get some immunity in the words of the nurse that called me with my results. They don't know for how long. There are variants popping up that immunity to one strain or the vaccine might not cover. It was a mild case. I was afraid, I didn't know how bad it was going to get. I didn't know if I was going to die of it like my kids' dad. I was sick for about 2 weeks.

You can get covid more than once or even if you've taken the vaccine, but because your system 'knows' covid, it can make antibodies and fight it off, thus producing a very mild case. There are also mutations of covid which are of some concern.

Post by INSENSE3 »

This thread is picking up the pace as covid19 is suddenly over now and a whole buncha folks won’t get the vaccine, while others cannot get one to save their lives (just the slang term, not actually literally. So I guess pun intended?).

I have some friends who “got covid19” and decided they are “now immune”. Immunity scientists don’t know how that works, but I’m sure glad my “friends” on Face Place (LOL. This is what they call it on the Young and the Restless last I watched in 2013 LOFL) know all about how immunity works and who needs vaccinations and who doesn’t.

For those who don’t get the vaccinations because they think it’s all been a hoax, FINE. At least the rest of us will NOT be subjected to their political, self made beliefs about covid19 being a hoax by GETTING IT FROM THEM due to their purposeful lack of hygienic actions and inability to put loops around their ears to wear a mask while in unsanitary conditions like a grocery store.

I’m very happy to see more folks posting in this thread. And it’s very cool to have HONEST input without being “flamed” in response. This website / forum is getting EVEN BETTER by the day.

I hope you guys feel better soon, herbalhippie! Metalmomrocks, you are one tough cookie and I admire your never wavering while those conditions at work were less than ideal (!!!)

Please know I am including all of you in my gratitude review of the day ! At least we have Kratom for some relief from vaccination side effects (somehow I dodged them even tho I’m a hypo maniac?!) and from covid symptoms because everyone has a different experience and you’ll never get a round leg into a square hole and there are no columns of known facts that apply to everyone, no matter how hard people try for making labeling of sheeple easier.

I have a compromised immune and got my shot early. My doctor helped with that. But the cause of my compromised immune is not yet clear (except for long term chronic anemia and constant chronic pain from butt muscle spasms). There is NO diagnosis for my ailments and they are not entirely my fault (made up in my head). I’ve been validated by my doctor, but not to anyone else. People are still constantly trying to either diagnose me or dismiss me altogether. Labeling and judging prevail no matter what.

I also went to see Ted Nugent in the 70’s and 80’s. Now I don’t feel at all bad about doing drugs in the parking lot and puking through the entire show. I missed some other great bands, tho. I even had Ted Nugent hair because nobody told me about the wonderful world of hair straighteners!

Peace be with y’all!

Laurie

Yeah the chance of getting hospitalized with the vaccine is greatly decreased compared to getting covid without the vaccine. It's really a no brainer when you look at the numbers.
