So today I found out 4 cooks at my job tested positive for covid, and at least 2 or 3 are in isolation awaiting test results. I knew it was only a matter of time, but my job is basically acting like its business as usual. Considered cooks at my location for the most part don't wear masks and gloves aren't by a lot of the back of the house staff, I imagine this is gonna spread like wildfire in a restaurant where staff and management remove masks once they are out of guests view. It is kind of depressing seeing so many of your peers just not care or have covid "fatigue" while in the midst of a massive spike in cases (4300 in North Carolina today, another record, along with record high hospitalizations)

So many of us are now having to choose between income and the risk of covid. May have to sell some of my kratom stash if we get shutdown

I gave up my next two shifts, and prob will take the next week off to see how it plays out. I'll take the income loss. It isn't worth the risk. My parents are both too high risk.

I don't know how long I could go without working. I have a little cushion, and I estimate that I could use savings and credit to get by. I really feel for those who aren't in a place where they can miss work, and have to make that choice. I have co-workers who live week to week, with kids and family, and no support system. Making people choose income or health is just awful. It's weighing on me already and I can miss a week or so and be fine.

I knew it was only a matter of time before my job got hit by covid. It is frustrating that I was given a heads-up by a friend who works there, because management has been silent on this. If my friend didn't inform me, I would have gone into work tomorrow.

Got the Covid antibody test at Fred Meyer/Kroger about 20 minutes ago and will call for results shortly. It's $25 and insurance is not paying for it yet. The pharmacist told me they started giving the test Wednesday and she had not had a positive result yet.

On Monday we were down to 51 people in hospital. Now we are at 100. Our state is back to sheltering at home - only drs. appts and grocery runs. I don't mean to be a Grinch, but I hope people stay at home during the holidays. I'm afraid they won't, though.

Tonight, for some reason, as I was sitting here at my computer, I felt a VERY sudden pain under my left breast. I could barely breathe for the pain. It wouldn't go away but I didn't dare call 911 because the hospital is so crowded.

If you understand how they are using FEAR and NUMBERS you will know whats going on. People are to stupid to see it. Brave, you know what makes me sad? The fact that you are such a good soul and that you buy into so much conspiracy theory. I am not perfect, we are all victims in some way or the other. Their is so much crap out there but we have to sort it out. Sorting out is the hard part to do. Are you sick? Idaho doesn't have a lockdown or mask mandate. Actually, someone did start a mask mandate and you know what happened?? On Oct 23rd, the freaking Panhandle Health District, the health dept. voted to rescind it! Then just last week, they voted it back in. You know why? Because they have so many people needing the hospital that they don't have room for they're sending them to Oregon and Washington.

I just saw yesterday that one of the Dakotas, I don't remember which but it doesn't matter because both are red and do not follow Covid protocol, has the highest per capita of cases IN THE WORLD!!!

Brave, do you get any information (that you believe to true) from anywhere other than Youtube? Where can one find the truths and secrets most are too blind to see? Serious question, do you think all the doctors and nurses and infected patients - across the entire globe - are misinformed or lying or conspiring about covid?

I consider myself extremely open minded, and love some good conspiracy theories: ancient alien theory - yup, love it! Lost civilization that was on Earth long before our modern civilization but all evidence destroyed by an asteroid - hell yeah that is a fascinating to think about! Multiverse theories or we're just living in a simulation - I'm listening, and wish I understood how it all worked out, but very possible! Secret Societies - please tell me all about them! A God in the clouds snapped things into existence but took the 7th day to rest (or whatever), and then a man named Noah spoke to animals and built a boat and got all life on earth onto this boat to survive a global flood, and then a book was written that is the word of said 'god' but has been rewritten many times and tells fairy tails of angels and demons and talking snakes and virgin births - NOPE, that is about as real as The Lord of the Rings which has a more believable story

I don't have a point, just typing what comes to mind as I am home on a Saturday night because there is a spread of covid in my workplace and I take care of my very high risk elderly parents, and would prefer not to risk exposing them so that they do not die alone from a virus that is very real and spreading like wildfire because many people believe it is not real because there are youtube videos that say it is a hoax ** This last part has covid info in it so it's relevant to the topic and not political **

Mike you are intelligent and i can tell just from how you type. As crazy as it sounds there is tons of spiritual people who i listen to from you tube but when banned from youtube, sure many have their own websites and constantly change their web host because someone don't like them. Some comes from random youtubes, some from work but at the end of the day i make my own conclusions and observations. I am i right? Nope... i never claimed to be right. Its just another point of view, if their were many right wingers, i would be a leftist just to put out another view point. My main goal is somehow to end on a middle road where two sides can agree on. Hoax or not, there been way to much evidence that something else is affecting people and corona has never been studied fully, while people are in aww and confused.. you get the rest. Are people getting sick? yes.. is it really that bad? start digging deep, like last one many people recorded many hospitals in all states that were plain empty and only new york and few other once that caught my eye on CNN. Sure the news had to apologies for showing isreal hospitals and people screaming thinking it was here people suffering from covid. I am just glad your open minded and i can tell your legit. Maybe go grab a camera and go record nearest hospital, come back and share the results. If they dont allow you then your rights are dead. but atleast record the parking lot, see how many cars are there. my point is all of them are empty. but on the news they make it sound like its every single hospital. Once you go out on your own, you will start having you blood boiling and be confused why this happens. its a good start thought. if your healthy then go in and get tested, if you get covid and house arrested for 2 weeks, maybe start digging and researching. for me there is a lot of stuff that dont make sense and yes i am still confused.

Happy Thanksgiving All.

Not one of my favorite holidays as it was originally about Inviting our neighbors over for dinner, then stealing their land, then killing them.. There is still conjecture as to whether or not we gave Smallpox infected blankets to Native Americans back in the day. OK, the conjecture seems mostly about whether or not there was any LIVE SP bacteria in the blankets.

Sorry, not very cheerful. I haven't seen my mother since March (she's in assisted living). We have 110 people in the hospital (up from 85 last weekend) and my Guy went to walmart yesterday (which was VERY crowded), so now I'm hearing him sneezing downstairs and wondering if we'll still both be alive this Christmas

I hope everyone stays safe over the weekend. I guess all we can do is whatever we are willing to endure. It isn't terribly cold here today so I'm preoccupied with thoughts of Spring already.

Since I only have the 'news' to go by, I'd be interested to hear how things are going, COVID-wise in your area. Maybe we can reassure each other.

Oh man, it's not good here. When the kids' dad was in the hospital, there were 11. I live in a large town, I guess you'd call it. I don't think I've heard it referred to as a small city yet. lol Anyway, I saw a post yesterday by our health department that there were 20 people in the hospital now and they're concerned about running out of room for Covid patients. It's scary times. I'm not doing anything different than I've been doing most of this year but I feel like I should be taking even more precautions if possible.

Here in North Carolina are average 7 day daily cases are hitting record highs. Like 3600 new cases per day over the past week. I think its like a 40% increase from two weeks ago. Yeah, not good.

Worse is hospitalizations, which on Tuesday went from 1600's --->> 1700's and Wednesday went from the 1700's --->> 1800's (we were in the 1500's on Sunday I believe). I haven't looked at today's numbers, but yeah, that's a rapidly growing surge in people currently in the hospital. And what are we doing about it here in NC??? Not much, but many stores are having even better in-store sales for Black Friday and the weekend, and the mall in my area is expected to be extremely busy

And my job that had at least 4 confirmed positive covid cases one week ago today?? Well, it's business as usual, and no one is even talking about it because either they need money or don't care or some combination of both Tomorrow night will be my first shift back in over a week since learning of the covid cases. Not looking forward to it to say the least.

Hey HH,

I think about you and your ex most days. I don't personally know anyone else who suffered through this kind of tragedy. I do know some people who know about someone who had COVID and passed. But they are all "tsk tsk, it is what it is" about it.

I can't imagine doing anything more than what you are already doing to stay safe. I don't think it's possible to go into a crowded Walmart and assume that no one in there is sick, so it almost seems like a numbers game at this point. We haven't done any grocery deliveries yet but I guess it might come to that.

I think you're going to be OK. You do set a really fine example and I'm glad that you have been so open about the measures you take. It's a reminder that we do have some ability to control our own environment.
