What kind of music?
What kind of music is everyone into? I listen to a lot more variety the older I got. But I will always be a goth/ industrial music lover at heart. Music in general has been my life. been to many concerts and shows. Also love all kinds of electronic music. Used to go to raves a lot and party back in the day. Just curious what kind of music my fellow kratom lovers prefer?

Re: What kind of music?
I honestly like about everything. I like older music, like music from the 40s and 50s. Classic rock is probably my favorite genre; Tom petty, Jethro tull, the eagles etc. I didn't really like 90s music in the nineties, but now I do, which I guess is kind of weird
. I don't care to much for the music coming out now, but there is a few that I like. I really like Lindsey Stirling, the violin is just soothing to me.

Re: What kind of music?
Yeah that's a good variety of stuff. I can jam to classic rock as well. Crazy how much I talk to people about music and it's all radio stuff they listen to. I mean it's fine and all but the radio to me is the equivalent of the way they describe the deep web. It's only the top of the iceberg. I'm always open to new stuff so I may be going down a 40s and 50s Rabbit hole now.

I'm not going to lie, it was the fallout games and bioshock that got me started into music that old. And most of it is actually pretty good, little short songs but most have a decent tune or story.

I like Hip-hop and I love to dance to it too.
Other than that I like most everything, except Heavy Metal, a lot of the EDM with auto tune. And for some reason I'm not fond of the cooler jazz forms (but I luuuv the Blues).
I don't have a personal music collection (even though Mr. Grey got me one of the i-pod things). It's hard for me to play background music if I'm doing something 'important' because I have to stop what I'm doing and listen

Re: What kind of music?
My wife pops her headphones in and cleans and can do everything listening to music, which is awesome to me. I can't do that because the music, though I enjoy it, it distracts me. If I want to listen to music I have to play it on the stereo not on headphones and just have it as background noise, or just be chilling out if I'm going to be using headphones.Greyfeather wrote:I like Hip-hop and I love to dance to it too.

Re: What kind of music?
Tool is definitely my all time favorite band! I have seen them in concert 6 times. I wish I had seen their early shows. Puscifer is pretty good. Love the old metal bands like Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth, etc. Grew up listening to that stuff with my dad. Wolfmother, Eagles of Death Metal, and Queens of the Stone Age are fun to listen to when I am dancing around cleaning the house. I have been getting into more southern rock/country-ish/blues... Tyler Childers has become a new favorite of mine, as well as Barns Courtney and Brent Cobb.

I’m also big into jam bands and love music festivals! Psychedelia, Indie Rock, Indie pop, and even some mainstream stuff.
Favorite bands and acts... STS9, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Disco Biscuits, Perfume Genius, Tame Impala, Tipper, Grimes, Phish, The Strokes, Miley, Robyn, Rufus Du Sol, Gorillaz, Passion Pit, The xx, and I could prolly go on and on here but I’ll spare ya the rambling!

Re: What kind of music?
Lol my time was about the same late 90s to around 2006 when it was not the same anymore. I loved the hard house style. I don't know if it was because of my metal rock roots lol. My first concert was king diamond at like 13 years old. Was lucky enough to see Pantera. Saw Gorillaz as well. I saw lot of bands before they broke at a local legend of a club which is no longer around. It was great for catching acts in a more intimate setting before they got on the theater/arena tours or super famous. Then found raves and partys. Liked the Chicago house music. Some drum and bass. I have been getting into the new psytrance stuff coming out it's not bad. My favorite all time band is skinny puppy though. I went through different kinds of music but once I like something I just add it to the list. I have never been one of those I only listen to metal or what ever your into type of people.Bubba wrote:@Apheks242 Same! When was your hay day? Re: What kind of music?
EDM is such a broad, dirty term these days. It’s so general and nondescript. When did we become so lazy? 90s ravers are rolling over in their future graves.Seacookie wrote:So EDM like.....Tipper, Jade Cicada, Detox Unit, K.L.O, etcPayshince wrote:![]()

Call me old fashioned but Claude Von Stroke is HOUSE MUSIC. Tiësto and Van Buuren are both Trance and you can call Chainsmokers & Aviici both EDM, cuz yeah well it’s very that.
Dave Tipper is a god among men... And we could call him Trip Hop, Glitch, or even Electronica. Detox Unit is Breakbeat heavy Glitch.
Bassnectar is IDM. I saw G Jones at Okee and I’d call that Dubstep, Grime, or Trap, at least what he played there.
I’ve never liked the term EDM. Never. Ever.

I'm so freaking old, no clue who any of these musicians are.
Agree with HH, prog Rock was always my favorite. Just gimme some Genesis from the 70's.

I like a wide variety of music, not very big on modern pop/EDM/dubstep though. Lately I've been listening to a lot of DJ Screw (90s southern hip hop), Deerhunter (shoegaze/dream pop), Boredoms (Japanoise), Durutti Column and Tosca (chillout/ambient) and Syd Barrett's solo stuff. But really I like stuff from every genre, from old school jazz to German techno to Stravinsky.
I also like some older QOTSA and Kyuss.

Punk, postpunk, such as Joy Division, shoegaze such as My Bloody Valentine, Indie, Snow tha Product (amazing Latina rapper), and BlackPink (KPop).
And I was a huge Sleater-Kinney fan until Janet had to leave the band.
Joy Division. Merits a second mention.

I love JD (and new order). Loveless is in top 10. I love all SK albums from the first to the woods...no cities to love gets no love from me. Wasn't aware Janet left. She's also in some other bands...heard of Quasi?
I've been listening to a ton of shoegaze...Slowdive, Spacemen 3, Cocteau Twins, Swervedriver, Ride, Galaxie 500, Flying Saucer Attack, early The Verve, the Swirlies and Bowery Electric are also amazing.
I like too much post punk to list, but here's a few... Public Image Ltd., Gang of Four, Television, Wire, Siouxsie and the Banshees...so many, I better stop there.
I've been researching, finding, and listening to new bands for the past 15 years. I always think I've heard it all, but then realize there's still SO much out there.

I've been digging the new PIG collab. track, it's on youtube. "Seed Of Evil" - John Fryer (Black Needle Noise) with Raymond Watts (PIG). It's pretty straight forward industrial-pop sounding, but fairly modern too - big synths, drum machine, some vocal fx, you know, all the stuff we like ha-ha.Apheks242 wrote:What kind of music is everyone into? Ablackburn86, the reason I asked you if you liked Mr. Show with Bob and David (the mid-90s HBO comedy sketch show starring David Cross and Bob Odenkirk, pre-Breaking Bad fame)
....is because that's where Puscifier materialized. They were just a fake band for a one-off comedy sketch with Maynard James Keenan in a very small speaking role. But one thing led to another and they became a real band. I can't remember exactly the episode that thet are featured in but I remember it's pretty good and Maynard James Keenan, to his credit, is actually pretty funny. I'm a huge Mr. Show fan if you couldn't tell.
