Coronavirus discussion
Thought I'd start a thread in case anybody wanted to talk about it.
Any of you worried? Is anybody prepping for this?

I'll admit I was curious enough to Search for 3M Respirator N95 masks ... all gone
Check your local Home Depot for "Respirator N95". All were sold 2 weeks ago here & none available for 100 miles
But THEN ... research. It's like a Common Cold.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Yeah, but I have asthma, so I'm a little concerned. Not much tho.
I may have ordered two extra bottles of the immune boosters I use.
I also may have just got home from a Costco run.
They're almost out of toilet paper and the guy said they'd been expecting a truck and it keeps not making it. I don't know what to think of that. I didn't look to see the bottled water situation.
I'd say about 1/3 of the carts I looked at were obviously prepping.
People are scared, it's like Washington is Ground Zero or something. That death in Kirkland and nursing home outbreak also in Kirkland got a lot of people going.

Another death in WA today.
I made a post on Facebook earlier today about my trip to Costco. My GM at work saw it and that sent him to Costco. He said it was a madhouse.

Thanks for starting this thread. My mom was going to travel to Cambodia In February, but we canceled her trip. Her connecting flight was going to be connecting in China. We did not want to take that kind of risk. I called the airline and they said all is fine and not to worry. Turns out that anyone who step foot in China will be stuck in quarantine before they come back to the United States. We are so glad that we made the decision to cancel, because had we not, she would be stuck in quarantine trying to come back to the US. My mom is old and the thought of her being stuck in quarantine, was a no no.
I’ve heard that the virus thrives on younger ones as well and I have two lil ones. I’m that mom that is constantly making sure they wash their hands, and telling them to try their best to stay away from anyone coughing etc etc I’m a worried wart with it comes to my children. Especially when their in school and I’m not there with them

Just saw a local news post on FB. A patient in my town is being tested for the virus. Also, the local hospital (which is the regional hospital), and the other clinic have set up outdoor triage areas.

Stay safe HH. We're in Kentucky and so far there are no cases close, as far as I know anyway. I'm sure it's coming.herbalhippie wrote:Just saw a local news post on FB. Re: Coronavirus discussion
Holy s*** you guys. I knew Costco has been cleaned out of tp, sanitizer, wipes, etc but when I was in Fred Meyer yesterday it was as well stocked as usual. Stopped by there a little bit ago to get a prescription and thought I'd walk around the store and check things out. EMPTY SHELVES EVERYWHERE. No tp. No bleach type cleaning products. I got the last bag of bread flour, all other flour GONE except for the smallest bags. Canned fruit getting very low. Milk very low.
Son and I were going to go shopping tomorrow but I didn't think it was going to wait until tomorrow. Spent $100 I didn't plan on spending.
Also, a second person in the hospital being tested for the virus, a college student this time. My youngest daughter goes to that college.

I think its overblown. People panic and everyone's making a run on the stores, but I keep telling everyone that the normal flu kills 40,000 people per year. It just worries me that if people panic over something like this, what would happen if we had a real disaster? We're willing to go into hiding, stop social events and everything and we don't really even have any evidence that its really worse than influenza. Honestly the stress that people are putting themselves under is going to cause more physical damage and death than the virus. Check out Dr. Berg's CV video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAtAd6_Wh9Y
That being said, I've been trying to get healthier and have learned a lot lately. Some supplements I've started to take (in powder form) are moringa, soursop leaves and neem. Black seed oil is really good for the immune system, as well as oregano oil for destroying bacteria and viruses. Keep alkalized with apple cider vinegar, lemon water or baking soda. Limit sugar and man-made chemicals like pharmaceuticals.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
It is really crazy to me how easily so many people just accept isolation for weeks. And also sad how many others are trying to stop/angry over those who are infected from going into isolation in the state/city they live in... I mean I get it, people are worried, but should people just be stuck on cruise ships? Where should infected patients go?
Stuck on a cruise ship. Stuck in a city in Italy you were visiting as a tourist. Stuck in a hotel or home. What happens if you are isolated for weeks? Do you lose your job? What if you have family that depends on you, what happens to them while you are isolated? What about the income you lose? I mean, imagine you are not sick, but you are forced into weeks of isolation because someone was sick around you? My brother just went to California for Business, a week after going to Seattle for business right before the outbreak there.
And the information in this virus is changing daily it seems. I think it is either worse than they are truly saying for the fact that entire cities are being locked down and also economy of many industries is being severely impacted.
And, conspiracy theory time (not serious, just random thoughts): 1) could this have been a biological weapon that was released by accident (or on purpose as a test)? It came from China, so it is kind of hard to trust the information they put out on the virus origins. 2) could this be a test to see how willing people accept isolation and/or new restrictions? Cities are being locked down, borders on being closed, flights are not allowed to land in some places, and yet still not all the information about the virus is known. (I don't think either of these are happening, just my curious mind wondering "what if"

I keep my hands clean. This has served me so very well for decades. Touching any part of your face is like an invitation.
And since I am immunocompromised I just stay alert and avoid spaces like ERs, cafeterias, schools. But if I can't - hey - I don't touch surfaces or other stuff if I don't have to. Tuck my hand into my coat sleeve for the public bathroom handle. Flush with my knee/foot instead of hand. use elbows (if possible) to turn on the water. Basically I behave like a surgeon on the way to the operating room
Frankly, I hate the whole "hand sanitizer" business. In fact, I thought that those had been seriously discontinued because, by using them, we just encourage more hardy viruses. And we can see the evidence of this: every year a more treatment resistant flue comes to call.
I live in IL where the risk is still minimal. But if I lived in Wash. State I would probably do one thing: start wearing latex/ vinyl gloves everywhere (and keep some tissues hand if I need to blow my nose, scratch an 'eye-itch', apply some lip balm).

Re: Coronavirus discussion
I have a horrible habit of touching my face all the time. It's been really hard to not do that, to try to remember to wash my hands before I touch my face if I have to.
I never used hand sanitizer before now and the only reason I'm using it now is if I can't get into a sink to wash my hands for whatever reason. Also because I scented my homemade sanitizer with an essential oil blend I had made up already and it smells heavenly and I'm enjoying smelling it. Lol
it occurred to me this morning that if either one of us in this house get sick I don't have a thermometer anymore. First place I looked was Amazon and people are definitely price gouging like mad. went to Walgreens only to find out that the local hospital went to both Walgreens stores in town and completely bought out their stock of thermometers. Finally found a relatively inexpensive one at a little obscure store on the way up to the airport.

I have been following your updates on the coronavirus situation in your area and I am worried about you. Mostly I am worried about all of this panic. It sounds out of control crazy. But when people's fear and imagination's get the better of them they'll go to extremes, won't they? And it becomes "every family for itself."herbalhippie wrote:I have a horrible habit of touching my face all the time. I really - seriously - believe that you will be Just Fine HH (Eh, you know it too
I am so very sorry that Fear is driving your local economy and influencing behavior. And F*CK the media for making bank by scaring people. Maybe just keep doing what you usually do, knowing that you didn't get all twisted and conned into buying sh*t that you don't need. I wonder what all those folks are going to do with the crates of hand-sanitizer they bought
Yeah, it's easy to GIVE advice on the internet; it sounds like you are in the midst of an apocalyptic frenzy. People are losing their damn minds. I'm not where you are, but I have been in situations where people lose every bit of perspective if they fear something.
Oh! Btw: has ACV (or white vinegar) sold out yet? I clean my entire house (and everything else) with this (a tiny bit of bleach for the bathroom). This is what I stock up with - rain or shine. It does have strong disinfecting effects (and I Luuuuuv the smell

I went to a pizza place and saw coworkers coughs making pizza made me cringe and probably last time getting something from outside who makes foods. Co worker even joked saying what if its coronovirus? I think it was last time i am buying something from pizza places or fast foods. I feel like, They should all be wearing masks if making food. Its many people everywhere seem to be sick, two cops that came to pizza place, one was black and another white, the black one was coughing his lungs away, i thought to my self OMG why didnt he call in???
Any way, here is a list to get if still didnt get
Vitamin-c - Helpd prevent from catching viruses but if you do, higher amount of vatamin C is know to kick crap out.
Seaweed {from castco the best} its know given to solders in vietnam that got infected and had cancer, healing from all problems been reported by simply eating seaweed.
Apple cider vinegar- from the mother by Braggs brand - keep you PH balanced.
Vitamin D
Lemons - lemenade made from real lemoms is always good to drink. lemons known to kill 150+ viruses.
Real white Thai coconut, - crack it open and drink water, known to kill tons of viruses and you feel better after 6 hours. you can crack it little bit more and eat all the meat.
I mean instead of talkiong about fear, lets talk about all the stuff that boost immune system. i started a list, what do you guys consider taking for immune boost and why? lets make the list bigger.

Yeah I agree with Kurtis! I work for the Cheesecake Factory. Yesterday for example we had 130 names on the wait (around 2 hours to get a table). And umm, yeah, if people saw what it looks like on expo (food window where plates are put when ready to serve) and the line (cooks), umm lets just say you'd prob not want to wait that long LOL. Don't even get me started on the dish/prep areas. Put it this way: I only eat from certain stations and ONLY from certain cooks!KurtisCards wrote:Most jobs i have had don't allow you to call in, or you get in trouble. and the food industry is nasty dude, no matter where you go to eat. And this is at Cheesecake Factory and our standards are really high for casual dining (I think cheesecake factory is 4-star business casual). Imagine what goes on at the lower ends chain restaurants?

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Hi, there, HerbalHippie! Thanks for bringing this up! I've been a bit worried. I don't believe that it's the death sentence that the media is making it out to be (thousands of people in the US have already died of the flu this year, but no one seems to talking about that), but, I am, very much, prepping for it.herbalhippie wrote:Thought I'd start a thread in case anybody wanted to talk about it.
Any of you worried? Is anybody prepping for this?
My biggest concern is that things are going to slow/shut down, in order to contain the spread. I also don't know how much I'll want to be going out if/when it gets bad in my area. For that reason, I've stocked up on non-perishables, and, dry goods, like rice and beans. I have water jugs and purifiers, as well. I've also been trying to stock up on kratom, just in case shipping slows/stops. I have a bunch of p100 respirators, too lol.
Though I'm not terrified, I guess I'd rather just be prepared in case things were to get bad.

I had a bunch of N95 masks leftover from prepping for bird flu around 2005 I think it was. I went on a cleaning binge a couple months ago and found two boxes left and GAVE THEM TO GOODWILL.Slayro wrote: I have a bunch of p100 respirators, too lol.

Not happy with myself.
I have food and water for son and I for about a month. I really don't think we'll need it, but you never know. Just wish I had those masks back.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
From seeing all the the random videos, i am starting to think this is done for political reasons, everyone knows economy would slow down and crash at some point, with coronovirus its sooo much easy to do it, it would happen either way with CV or with out, CV just helped it better. Even 5 months ago the west coast ships there were barley any ships from china, after all this could of been done on purpose by some big people to finish the mission that was started. We all know USA and China had secret economic wars all along never talked about except some info leaking out on the news. CV from what i understand only works on bad immune systems, its basically like a very bad flu like. If you dont eat crap food and avoid soda's and many other things that break immune system then you should be fine, even better if you add some turmeric, black pepper, kratom, vitamin c, vitamin d and many other goodys to your body, the flu will barley scratch you. But always its good to stock up for least 3 months because if elites decide to block everything for 2 or 3 months, at least you will make it perfectly fine. Even thought it had nothing to do with virus they will do it to raise the fear level and panic for people. all iam saying just be packed for 3 months and you should not worry if your city declares to stay in house for no good reason blaming some flu. When people are in fear, its easy to control them and make them comply to do anything, take any shot or do what they wish too. so always just sit back and observe the insanity but dont fear and dont panic, it will pass.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Nice one HH, its like the main thing, we touch everything and not even realize how many door nobs we touch a day, imagine all those hands that wiped there mouth after a sneeze then open the door??? I think hands should always be washed, leaving house, public bathrooms, any where is water, or when entering home. especially if you about to start cooking, and if you have family members, be respectful and when about to cough or sneeze, use your shoulder part or have some plain mouth cover if sick. There is a chance you will save the bill by not driving family members to hospitals if everyone did that. But i just want to point out, vitamin c with kratom, not once i sneezed and felt very good, i think we should always include some vitamin c daily, it also helps prevent other flu's that fly around everywhere. If not vitamin c and aplle cider vinegar should do the trick. Oh and dont forget spray down all your house door knobs, because some old germs can stay on it for long time. just some thought.

Good luck finding Lysol spray or any kind of wipes around here. I just cleaned both outside doorknobs with bleach and messaged son and told him to always use hand sanitizer before touching the doorknobs when he comes home.

and remembered this post, this guy kicked cancer out with high dose vitamin c. its on 1 news, a lot say vitamin c high dose stops virus or slows it down by a lot so no wonder its being emptied everywhere like masks.
Wouldn't hurt to eat at least a tablespoon a day

There is no Lysol spray to be found in this town. This morning on the way to work I stopped by the local food service store and they had hospital grade broad-spectrum sanitizer that will kill viruses too. $12 for a gallon. It'll take one teaspoon to a 32 oz spray bottle of water.

I eat local honey, never eat sugar i even forgot about sugar. raw honey is the way. but manuka honey from new zealand i got some saved just in case if i need something stronger, it sure is awesome immune booster.
Dont forget about wiping you cell phones as well.herbalhippie wrote:Good luck finding Lysol spray or any kind of wipes around here. I just cleaned both outside doorknobs with bleach and messaged son and told him to always use hand sanitizer before touching the doorknobs when he comes home.
Is Coronavirus Living On Your Smartphone? the only problem the device he offers for people never been messured by this guy how much radiation it emits, so wipes is ideal.

Edit, if you have very old wallet, time to get a new one, it also carry's germs on it. and use cards if can and not touch cash, cash can easily be sneezed on. or get new bills strait from bank and refuse if its not new, all banks should have new bills.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Ugh I completely get it!! I had a bunch of n95s for a project that I did a couple of years back. I know that I had some leftover, but can't find them anywhere. I don't think that we'll need everything that I've stocked, either, but, I suppose I'd rather be prepared!herbalhippie wrote:I had a bunch of N95 masks leftover from prepping for bird flu around 2005 I think it was.

Food is #1, rest like toilet paper you can always do what Africans do or other poor country's. Have a bucket of water with a pitch to pick that water up to wash everything you need.
there is a lot of good life hacks on youtube. many great ideas.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Well, I just happened to be at Costco the last day they had toilet paper and I saw the writing on the wall. I think I'm good.
I can't believe how lucky I have been in getting supplies. Scored two more bottles of aloe gel today after they said they probably wouldn't be getting any for a long time. Said the same thing today after this batch sells tho. Got a fifth of Everclear after calling all over town looking for 91% or 99% rubbing alcohol. One store had some 70% and that was it. I know handwashing is best, and I am washing the skin off my hands, but hand santizier is good in a pinch and I have been using it.

I thought about getting some sexy black gloves that go up to my elbows, but they would be too hard to clean. They would also look funny with my short sleeves t-shirts I wear ever day!

Dune is my favorite of all time.herbalhippie wrote:
Here in Hawaii we have 2 confirmed cases of corona. People are stocking up, but it's mostly comparable to when we have hurricanes, though things like masks are selling out too. I ordered some non-n95 masks from amazon for being around crowds or close to people.
