Oh crap, I just realized it's after midnight (I rarely stay up this late), I have upstairs neighbors and I'm blasting Grand Funk. Whoops.

Re: What are your all time favorite songs?
I bought the Animals version of Inside Lookin Out, on 45 vinyl when it came out.
A musician friend, digs the Grand Funk version / we have a debate on which is better. Eric Burdon's a great singer. Mark Farner's is more a long guitar jam.. Animals more Hammond B3 organ sound... cool number!
Grand Funk, remember.. changed the lyrics!!

Grand Funk, remember.. changed the lyrics!!Farner inserted a drug reference, smokin' Reefer and "Nickel Bags" for the Canvas Bags line .. There was a big fuss about this, parents banned their kids from listening to it!

I didn't know that the Animals covered that song! I'll listen to it tomorrow morning. And yes I remember when they changed the lyrics. It was a scandal!!

Re: What are your all time favorite songs?
My two youngest girls were going to a Gwar concert in Seattle and I didn't want them driving back over the pass late at night so I got them a hotel room on my credit card. Told them if they got charged for getting Gwar goo all over the sheets or towels there was going to be trouble. They did not, they were very careful.BallzDeep9 wrote:Back in the 90's I saw Gwar perform in smaller clubs.. Probably my all time favorite “guitar song”. First time I heard it (in the late eighties and high as a kite) was mind-blowing! At one time I had that album (One Nation Under a Groove) on vinyl, 8-track, cassette and cd. Now I’ve just got it on digital
I still listen to it fairly often.

GREAT thread! Allen Collins and Steve Gaines ripping up the end of Freebird. Bad Penny by Rory Gallagher. Still Got the Blues by Gary Moore. Ex stone Mick Taylor playing with Carla Olsen. Finally, this is hard to find on YouTube. The live version of the Eagles doing Joe Walsh’s tune Turn to Stone. Houston 1976 or 77. Joe and Don Felder play off each other so well.

Yeah, I love the live Freebird video.
When that song first came out they played it so much on the radio I got sick of it, along with Hotel California and Stairway to Heaven. Now all these years later I LOVE it when these randomly come on the radio. Damn good songs!

Also, I lived in the Seattle area when grunge was popular. I had more plaid flannel shirts than anyone. Now one of my daughters has a few of my old ones.

When I visited NYC last Summer, I listened to it ALOT while walking around. It was recorded in Brooklyn, right. It was a cool experience.
I didnt appreciate AIC until later in life- Layne was gone by then. I adore him now...
