Realistic expectations
I have read so many different user stories online about kava but have yet to really get anything from it.
I've only ever tried it in a shot which was crap, and am not sure if there really are pronounced effects from it.
Is anybody a fan of this plant?

Re: Realistic expectations
Y'know, I've got some.. Good kava, from Bula Kava House... and I rarely do it? Not sure why? It's kind of a drunken feel and I'm no longer a big drinker. AND 2- the whole process of squeezing powder through a Muslin Bag, is kind of a hassle. That's "real" kava making.
I keep wanting to try some of their micronized Instant Kava, they have 11-Year Waka! - supposed to be strong. Just pour in Cup w/ hot water.

I purchased some from Sage Wisdom, $50 for an oz. 70% kavalactones. I don't know if this is a great price, but it is a lot less than I found on etsy - 95% kavalactones, but $85/oz.
I don't use it recreationally, but if I feel a panic attack coming on, I take a large pea sized dollup under my tongue, it helps. The kava feeling is subtle for that amount, but once I was too eager and had 3 large pea sized scoops. It hit me hard, swimmy head, drunk body feel - I had to go to bed, lol. I could see enjoying it if I took a little less, maybe 2 scoops.
Best to take on an empty stomach.
The taste is like spicy mud.
Buncha years ago I tried to get into kava as a fun and relaxing experience and got powdered root and tried to do it the traditional way, but never got much out of it.

First, it's important to note that kava has reverse tolerance. It takes about 5-10 doses to start really feeling the effects. Most folks think to just try it once or twice and get nothing from it, but it takes the body time to adjust with how to process it.
Second, it's a process and if you don't make the tea from it and have time for it to cool, it loses a lot of potency. I think IndelibleDotInk has an awesome way to solve panic attacks; I actually added that method to my kitbag for later. Those are a huge amount of kavalactones, I'm sure that'd give you a one and done, but you'll need to make tea to get the best bang for your buck, under $30 would get you a weeks worth to have you feeling great by the weekend.
