Does Chaos come from Order, or vice versa?

Post by WotAnAtti2d »

I think it's the first one. I love the music from when I was a kid, and over time, I just stopped listening to new music.... and now I think the new music is garbage. Now, it's the next generation, and I see people posting about how the 80's music is the best from their past. I suspect that soon, the 90's music will have the same comments.

When I was a kid in the 70's, everyone had jobs. Hell, you could walk into a manufacturing plant and get a job with a high school diploma. Almost no one lived off of welfare. Everything seemed so... right.

I think what it boils down to is that most people simply enjoy the music they grew up with. For me, that’s 90s alternative rock and heavy rock. Bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Third Eye Blind, Weezer, Tool, etc. That will always be the music nearest and dearest to my heart because of the memories I associate with it when I was young and free.

As for the job thing, not sure. But I do know that the housing market used to be more much affordable back then. Almost anyone with a high school diploma and average job could afford a house. These days, good luck. It’s absolutely insane.

e_poison, yeah that's a great analogy... maybe it's not really the music itself, but the memories tied to it. There a YouTube video where a guy compares mens' brains to womens' brains. It's truthfully funny, if you'd like to watch it, it's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxtUH_bHBxs . He states that basically, when you tie an emotion to a memory, it burns into your brain forever. The same thing happens to men, but it doesn't happen very often, because quite frankly, we just don't care. LOL

Oletimer, I can't remember where I saw this documentary, but I'm guessing Netflix. It was an eye opener. It was about the demise of the automobile market in the US. It stated that World War II had bombed Japan and Germany, pretty much out of the automobile business. After WWII, US automobiles had the corner on the market because no one else was mass-producing automobiles. I sat there and thought about it... How often did you see Japanese autos in the seventies or pretty much, even the eighties? By the year 2000, they were everywhere. American automobile manufacturers didn't have to put much effort into making their product, only newer and flashier. It wasn't that cars started getting safer and get better gas mileage until competition appeared. Well, gasoline was a LOT cheaper, but still, better mileage would be great in any situation.

Coincidentally, and I knew this before the documentary, I'll never buy a BMW or a Mitsubishi. Why? BMW made the engines for the Messerschmitt fighter planes and Mitsubishi made the engines for the Japanese Zeroes. Yeah, it's petty of me, but eh.

When I was a kid I used to watch my aunts and uncles after a few drinks when certain songs came on they'd brighten up, become more animated and talk about where in life they were when the song was popular. Other songs would make them somber, quieter and often cry.

It's all about the memories. Been that way a long, long time.

Nowadays they'd sell to their enemies as well. It's all about the highest bidder. The bottom line is the bottom line. :-(

Not for nothing but if you refuse to buy Mitsubishi that means can't buy Audi, Subaru, Mopar, and plenty of others. All of these manufacturers use important Mitsubishi parts including AWD components, brake components, suspension, and others.....

By the thread title I thought this was going to be about the universe, existentialism, etc. Obviously dubstep is the pinnacle of human music achievement. BOING

I definitely relate music with memories, ,I can remember who where when,,those good ole days,,like reo speedwagon,,I hear a song,,I remember who I was with, what concert or festival, ,even what recreational substance we were enjoying at the time,,they definitely leave imprints,,all the musical memories are from teenage years,,after turning 20,getting married, ,I have no musical memories, ,none, ,funny how that works,,I guess it's when we're younger, enjoying life,,we experience the "magic", then life gets real, we are too busy to telax and enjoy the music, ?
