Alternatives to tea when travelling - ideas welcomed

Post by heme2016 »

I've settled in to a routine of exclusively making tea, as eating any amount of powdered kratom - even in capsules - plays hell with my elderly digestion.

Problem is, I have some travel coming up, and making tea while traveling is quite a hassle. I've looked at vendor blurbs on various liquid or tablet extracts, but they all seemed to be aimed at the high dose end of the market. I don't need that.

If it helps, I'm looking for pain relief and a little energy, and usually make my cup of tea with 3-4 grams of plain green or white leaf.

Any ideas?

You might want to see if DTE still has their freeze dried kratom. Each squeeze of the bottle is about 1g of freeze dried nano ground kratom. You mix it in water and there's very minimal plant matter. There's also mit extracts you could use. I've heard if people using electric kettles to make tea. You could get a small electric kettle and package your leaf in tea bags and make tea that way. Personally I would go with a quality full spectrum mit extract. That would be the easiest way for sure. Just use a dosing calculator to make sure you're taking the same amount of mit you normally take so you don't jack up your tolerance. Extracts can be used easily and responsibly.

Thanks for the ideas. Can't find the freeze dried stuff on DTE's website, but did get an idea while browsing the site. DTE's full spectrum shots have 300 mg in 30 ml, so 10 mg/ml. I've got some 3 ml plastic pipettes, so measuring out 30 mg should be easy, and ought to approximate a cup of tea made with 3 grams of plain leaf. Easier than carrying a kettle with me, or a scale for dealing with powdered extracts.

Anyway, appreciate the tip.

If you don't find a tea alternative, you can purchase empty tea bags and make your own kratom team packets that are easy to use when on the go! Just make sure you get bags that are suitable for powder and give them a test to make sure they dont leak powder into your drink (I've heard that some brands you need to "double bag it" if you want to avoid all organic matter from your brew). All you will need is a source of hot water, which most hotels have in the room for you via coffee/tea maker (and on the plane if needed!).

If hot water is the obstacle, you can make cold brew kratom tea but it takes much longer. A good recommendation for cold brew is to let is steep around 8 hours or so, which if you were in a hotel or something you could get a small pitcher and keep it in the fridge to make a big batch at once. I personally haven't tried the cold brew method myself (Im not a tea drinker), but Ive heard folks recommend it.

Excellent idea. Would you believe, I never thought of that? Didn't even know you could buy empty, unused tea bags.

Thank you!
