Irritability

Post by krathead »

Does kratom cause irritability for you? If so, is it due to kratom itself or withdrawal? I've been going through some mental health stuff and a doctor was wondering if my kratom use could contribute to irritability and i thought it was a good question.

Interested to hear you guys' thoughts.

I suppose it might work to exaggerate any impatience you might be feeling, especially if you took a variety known to be "fast".

Fwiw, I start every day with 200 mg. of Theanine, along with my Kratom. I generally buy stuff like that in bags of powder, but capsules are most common. But I also drink coffee all day long, and Theanine has a reputation for working well with coffee, or anything stimulating.

P.S. Lithium Orotate is another pretty popular item for people seeking some chill. Most everyone sells it in capsules with the same amount (around 5 mg.), as that serving size was studied and now has decades of people taking it at that amount, once or twice a day.

Kratom's partial agonist action on mµ opioid receptors, is still enough to cause some mild "Opioid Rage" a known SIDE effect, which can happen with HIGH dosage of ALL kratom products - So just like other SIDE effects (Wobbles, Mood swings, Immune response, Hair loss, sedation,) ... Best to LIMIT "Serving Size" = Low around 2 grams. 8-) Taking High amounts => 4 grams you're more likely to get irritable when the "Buzz" goes away.

Yes, it happens! :ugeek:

Never heard of lithium orotate; I assume it's diff from the pharmaceutical lithium used most often for bipolar patients?

Could you tell us more about your personaly use with it?

And I second the L-theanine, tho I use it to relax for sleep; how does one use it with coffee, your dose and effect on you?

Gettin interesting.

so i never really thought about this before but then I recently read about someone becoming irritable when using kratom and there were other people in that post talking about it doing the same with them as well. It makes sense though because I get that same irritability when using stronger traditional opiates and I know others where it gives the same effect as well so since kratom works with similar receptors as traditional opiates, I can definitely see kratom effecting some people in a similar way. It is most likely not because of withdrawals and is from the kratom its self if it is happening after taking your doses. withdrawals shouldn't really set in for like a full day of no use.

Are you worried about withdrawal? Have you been taking more than usually wood and suddenly stopped or cut down?

I totally forgot I posted this so sorry I'm replying almost two months later lol. Do you think 12g a day, 6 in the morning and 6 in the afternoon, is too much?

Certain strains cause intense irritability. Ohh it’s bad. They’re few and far between though and usually indicate lower quality (in my mind). The rest of the time Kratom gives me crazy amounts of patience.

Edit: For theanine I follow the guideline of 200 mg. per serving. Going much over that might induce a mild headache.

Theanine has lots of reputed benefits, though its reputation for helping with GABA and dopamine might be its most known one.

Regular lithium was found in the municipal drinking water in several locales, at a minute level, and IIRC it correlated with lower reports of violent incidents and suicides. Afaik it can also help with avoiding neurotoxicity in the brain. Since it's inexpensive I just take one a day with my other minerals and supplements.

The orotate version is supposed to more easily get into cells, thus helping to minimize the risk of having too much running through your system. Afaik you'd need to take quite a few capsules to approach taking an amount that could cause an issue. But I'm no expert, ymmv, consult a physician, etc.

I was on lithium for bipolar/schizoaffective and it wreaked havoc on my body and brain... orotate as described seems much less potent, but I'd stay away based on my experiences with the carbonate. If you have these conditions, there have been several generations of treatments which work much better and have a ton less serious side effects. jmtc.

Kratom slays irritability and negative attitudes for me. Small iced coffee making ritual with the aeropress and dark roasted beans with ssome kratom on the gives me a cheery start for the day. Fellow kratom enthusiast Calvin Beck (Btotheeck on MeWe) group 'becksbeans') does home roasting and really makess some absolutely deliciouss batches for a very very good deal: https://tinyurl.com/2j7few2y, best coffees I have ever had, forget about Kona, and I live in Hawaii where we know coffee. I recommend the Ethiopians, at least try one, the depth of flavor is incredible, we're not all coffee snobs. I'm 'IndelibleDotInk .' (space and period at the end) hit me up and I'll let you in the group. Totally off topic, lol.

Coffee and kratom life forever!!!!
