How Are Indonesia’s Kratom Regulations Impacting US Supply in 2024–2025?
Hello everyone !
Wanted to open a conversation around something I’ve been seeing more frequently this year:
how Indonesia’s evolving regulations are affecting kratom supply chains to the US.
There’ve been some notable shifts lately- some great, some a bit challenging.
Here’s a quick overview from the export side:
The good:
• There’s "more structure now" in how kratom is exported (especially out of Kalimantan).
• Push for GMP certification and lab testing is raising product standards.
• Exporters who have adjusted early (like us) can now send kratom via air cargo that arrives in the US within 3–7 days. faster than ever before
The challenges:
• Local movement of kratom between provinces is more tightly controlled now.
• Export licensing and documentation has gotten stricter-some suppliers haven’t fully adapted yet.
• Smaller or informal exporters are facing more rejections at customs.
So I’d love to hear from others here:
• What’s your overview from the US side of the kratom market lately?
• If you are a US-based vendor, have you experienced delays or stock gaps from Indonesian suppliers recently?
• And for small batch vendors:
Do you prefer importing directly from Indonesia to cut costs and customize strains,
or do you find it easier to buy from larger US-based vendors who already handle the import side?
From my end, I’ve been helping some small and mid-size buyers secure direct shipments with fast air delivery, and happy to share some insights if that’s ever useful.
Always open to learning more from what you’re seeing on the ground too..

I placed an order directly with my supplier in October of 2024. It eventually made it through the new inspections but then I’m not sure what happened at US customs. I still don’t have my package and my supplier and I are being ignored now by the broker and shipper. So I think I lost like $3000. I completely trust my supplier, but I don’t know what happened with customs or the rest of the delay. It’s incredibly frustrating.

A Reminder - Due to MANY many concerns and problems... ongoing... Importing small amounts of kratom, from Indonesia - is NOT advised. It's a "crapshoot" and UNLESS you have long experience, Years and years of trusted connections there... it's very likely that you will LOSE your Kratom - and your Money.
