do you find Blend Effects can be greater (or less) than the sum of their parts?

Post by piranha45 »

I'm a kratom newb and I've had 2 green-white blends now that seem to hit better than either of their constituent strains.

I've had little interest in Blends till now (I primarily take whites for clean energy... why would I want to dilute a good white down? logic). I took the blends just to experiment and wholly expected a generally weaker energy effect. It went the opposite, MUCH LONGER DURATION. Like there's some deep chemistry involved that synergizes a superior product.

Do you all have similar experiences with blends? Are there times where Blends also seem WORSE than either constituent?

Well, yes and no. Just like normal strains, there are times where blends are better and sometimes when they are worse. Sometimes the synergy is amazing, and sometimes you get a dud. It's all about experimentation. However, I feel overall that it's the potency of each batch in the blend that defines the quality of a blend rather than some "magic" that results from mixing strains. Although, I admit it would be cool if "kratomancy" (similar to the mythic alchemy of turning dirt into gold) was a thing.

No. That said, I don't mix them much til it's EOB (end of bag) for a couple that seem similar, then why not. I'm to understand 'yellow', and 'pink', and maybe even 'white' are combos anyways. Who knows what we're getting, it's from 1/2 way plus around the world, and I've seen pics/videos, there is no OSHA, no FDA. No one is keeping track of very much of anything in the kratom world. Hopefully, it's clean and lead-free. :)

I also take all EOBs (I like this term btw) and mix them into one big jar of awesome sauce. I have some creations that I don’t even know what’s in it anymore. 🤣

many vendor do blending for the kratom for making new strains. As far as I know, blending kratom raw materials requires careful calculation, not just a random mix. One needs to consider the potential of both ingredients, which is why some blended products may not produce the desired effect or even worsen the quality of an otherwise good product. However, when done correctly, combining products can make them even better. To achieve this, one must be truly knowledgeable about the potential of each product.

It depends for me. I really like a red/green blend. Most of the time it hits perfectly. Other times I'll get a better feeling after taking a red and green strain together. I think it also depends on what's going on with my body. Even the same strain or blend might hit well one day but won't hit the next.
