Kratom and strains
So i have tried most of the various strains from different vendors and I honestly can't tell any real difference between them. I used to smoke marijuana a few years ago and tried many different strains. I never cared for the ridiculous names because they all had the same effect.
How many here can actually feel the difference between them?

I can feel a difference between say, a Red Bali and a White Maeng Da. I'd say strains are generally all marketing, but there's enough subtle differences that the hype over particular strains is somewhat justified. I'm buying kratom on a budget and I'd love to be able to just buy a kilo or two of any ol kratom strain and call it a day.
For example, reds are generally slow, and DTE's Super Red Dragon A16 was slow but there's something about that Super Red Dragon that made it standout for me and it's not just the cool name. As you become better acquainted with this leaf you will find some strains you like more than others even if you are looking for generic effects like energy or pain relief.

Where to Start LOL
yes, the "Kratom Industry" is NOW a multi $ Billion $ business, with like 10 Years of websites and much written online, and you know... people write a Web page full of False info, mis-information and Mythology and then... Never take DOWN those web pages, they tend to stay UP forever and ever... for NEW people to discover and read, and believe and.... those NEW people, pass on the same ol' Mythology which has been proven wrong and fake
So, Kratom is Kratom.
That's an old' saying kind of like "Less Is More" which experienced folks know is TRUE - However the Vendors who write websites, want to SELL you more Kratom for more PROFIT - that's what drives the whole "strains" baloney... Capitalism. Buying some crap from Indonesia for the cheapest possible price ($10 per Kilo ?) and then, try to SELL that same Kilo for.. $200 ? Its ALL about the money unfortunately and so, a guy makes a fancy website with cute animals, Happy Hippo, designed for maximum Profit
Standardized Herbs - that's where the active ingredient Mitragynine, would be tested / Listed on each Bag. Unfortunately Kratom does not have Standardized potency....
Placebo! Yes the effects of Placebo are... a thing!

I think "kratom is kratom" is kind of reductive. Even strains from private vendors don't hit sometimes so it can't just be placebo "your brain is tricking you into thinking it's good because it's exclusive or marketed as a rare batch"BallzDeep9 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 5:44 pm Where to Start LOLyes, the "Kratom Industry" is NOW a multi $ Billion $ business, with like 10 Years of websites and much written online, and you know... people write a Web page full of False info, mis-information and Mythology and then... IMO, a lot of things go into a good batch of kratom besides just mitragynine. Which tree the kratom leaves were picked from, which leaves got picked and when the tree was harvested, preparation of the powder and storage. Also the myriad of lesser known about alkaloids.
Of course these kratom vendors are trying to make money, they don't do this out of the kindness of their hearts even if many vendors are chill people. I'd need to be making some money to deal with "wahhhh this strain didn't work i want my money back" and "wahhhh where's my package it's been three days" type customers.

Re: Kratom and strains
I agree that saying “kratom is kratom” is extremely reductive. While some of the strain naming conventions are certainly marketing, there are most definitely varying effects among unique batches. Kratom is grown in various regions by many different suppliers whom all use a wide variety different processing methods. There is destined to be wild amounts of variation. I’ve had extremely different experiences and effects over the years. Not all kratom is the same at all. Not by a long shot.
