Time for masks again? Pos / Neg?

I tend to think covid was a practice run / functioned as one if you don't believe the conspiracy aspect, but I feel like if another disease came around (conspiracy or not) I would use a mask. A lot of people died and putting a mask is a layer or protection, right?

During the height of the epidemic, our Lt.Gov. Green, who is an MD and currently practicing ER, worked with non-maximal protection because he was taking the usual careful steps that go on in a hospital emergency room and with patients. Thing is, he got covid and then recommended masks as another layer of protection. He's now our current Gov. and due to the low rate of infection is not doing any cramming down our throats.

To me, if a virulent disease comes out like covid, masking is not political, it's something we all should do, pitch in and add a layer of protection for all. It's easy and I don't feel infringed on.

Perhaps I'm being premature or irrelevant, but we got rid of polio around the world with the communities' cooperation.

There are a lot of new developments around the world in many important sectors which will make life in the next 20yrs...exciting, to put the best spin on it. Conspiracy theories, the regular mess of politics, amazing leaps in technology and biology.. if you're not yet, I suggest you get plugged in to something so you won't be alone.

I never stopped wearing masks really. Walmart,casino.mall etc I 100% wear a mask. I enjoy wearing masks in public. I've always been a clean freak though so I'm sure that is a big reason.

My kids's dad and their stepmom didn't mask. She wouldn't stay home. Spent days and hours
with her friends and none of them in masks and we know this from all the pix she posted on
Facebook just about every fuckin' day. . And then she brought Covid home and he died.

I have some pretty strong feelings about this.

She deleted all those Facebook posts after he died too.

A lot of people I'd think would mask do not, and for reasons that seem contrary to their normal selves, values, or mode of action. My parents, especially.

I wear a mask in Walmart or any other crowded place. They don't bother me and if my mask bothers others, it's their problem not mine. I also get vaccines and boosters.

lol, i don't think i'm pro Fox or any particular news service, just letting out some curiousity. My questions and viewpoints are mainly non partisan from issue to issue.

Just got back from Florida and a lot of people are masked, maybe 25%, while here at home in Hawaii, very few are, maybe 5%.

I sure am glad to be home, for a buncha reasons.

I didn't stop either. The one time I did - Boom! I caught that sh*t. Omicron. Now I have Long Covid and it has been 9 months of minor hell. My SO finally got it too and he didn't change his damn mask for FIVE days! I'm still furious.
Anyway, there will be another wave. It has already started and I don't know what i'll do if I get it again. Then again, at the moment I don't much care. I don't feel like my life is worth a crap. But around here people are going to act like jerks if another order goes into place. Blue state, Red city. These Cornbillies will tear everything down before theyll cover up their noses and gobs.
I got vaxed with the old version last month when He got sick but I'll get the new one as soon as possible. Maybe if we get another massive wave we can finally try to push through the Universal Health Care people want and need so badly. That would be absolutely life-altering for me and many others.

Same. We haven't had a regular tv for ten years. I never watched much tv at all, actually. So much rubbish. I subscribe to two streaming services at any given time. Cancel and switch them up. It costs a fortune to do all of them, I don't know how people do it.

Funny, cause this topic has nothin to do w politics. The pandemic exposed how dirty you grubby fucks are in grocery stores, movie theaters, libraries, and restaurants. I did not like the mask thing at first, but came around some time later, to understand its a good thing, especially in schools where germs breed at high levels. I have a good immune system and dont get sick much, never had Covid, and currently dont wear a mask out in public, but also dont mind other people wearing them if they're concerned, or out in stores w flu symptoms or a sore throat. Keep that shit to yourself and wash your damn hands once in a while.

Well, that was confusing.
I only know that the two times I did not wear a mask (and I was only at two places where I could have caught it), I ended up with covid. And it was stupid of me to have neglected it those two times.
We're masking up. I hate to at our Sunday congregation though because it feels like people walk past us when we do. Maybe this week folks wil mask again.

At this rate here, many people are resistant and with tourists coming back in, I say let the ones that want to wear masks, let the others choose not to.

I no longer do, but supported it when we were in the middle of the pandemic. My dad's friends, a couple, had the covid 9 times between them. Don't know anyone personally who got it after unmasking was ok, and haven't seen anyone very sick when out and about - if I did, I would mask.

I mean, people don't just mask for nothing when you are preparing up for surgery (patient, like my friend who was giving a kidney to his father), are a doctor or tech in surgery, etc.

It is a healthful enough thing that before all this pandemic, Japanese tourists would use them when they came to our islands.
