Sound of Freedom (movie)
So this is the movie that was blackballed by all the major distributors and not picked up on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video. Mel Gibson was strongly promoting it (he's not in it), and so was Jim Caviezel, the main actor. Lotta fuss about why it was being suppressed.
I was curious at what kind of movie Hollywood wouldn't show, lol, so took my parents to it. Now it's PG13, and because of the subject matter and acting, it was intense. A smattering of swearing and gun shooting and fighting, but it's about modern day slavery with a focus on child sex slavery. So there's an uncomfortability factor when you see these young kids and they're helpless and innocent and you wanna save them. Which Jim Cavizel does. Although the budget was tiny, it was excellently crafted and i guess the controversy (which was Hollywood trying to bury the movie) made crowds flock to it, it made a ton of money, and deserved it.
It opened my eyes, not the subject matter, but they huge amount of it - $150 billion per year... more slaves now than when slavery was legal in the US!!!! Blew my mind.
I would encourage you to see the movie or support in some other way; protecting children is, well, protecting our future, protecting innocents, and locking up pervs - not just pervs, but ones that prey on children.

I totally agree, Ink - it's an excellently done movie, and a true story. And it surprised the dickens outta everybody to see how well it did at the box office.
Here's a 5-minute clip from the movie that isn't in any of the trailers - click play, and skip forward to the 28 minute mark. It's a meeting between Jim Caviezel's character and a former mafia guy who is now helping to rescue trafficked children. If it doesn't touch your heart, you're not breathing -

I highly recommend this one!

Everyone should see this movie. And if you deny trafficking exists you're absolutely blind

not going to get into an argument about this movie, but if you're wondering why it is controversial do some research into the lead actor, his connections to qanon, and extreme right wing conspiracy theories. Consider also that 'based on a true story' doesn't mean that it's a documentary, and that the facts are correct as presented. Note also that apparently professionals who work in the area of child trafficking question whether this movie helps the cause.
obviously - form your own opinions, but there are controversies surrounding it for a reason.

How about you pick one to lock, we don't need two of these going. Thanks!
