We had a lot of people just making 'throwaway posts' to get in. Now it's after some time with meaningful engagement with the community. :D

I didn't say I wasn't going to count them as meaningful, I was just pointing out that we changed the rules a bit is all. :)

when did that happen, lol?

hey, did you ever notice this thread, at the beginning pages, the poems are NOT haikus? They're anti-haikus, the syllables are off, and there is a big moment when everyone realizes. Made my head spin.

But this has been one of my fave threads.

Abstinence can suck
At what point is it enough
All I feel is rough/ I have to be tough

Forget the old ways
They will not hold any sway
Things will be okay

Fire strikes the ice/ Lava like a kiss
Earth opening like the abyss
Terrible things amiss

Vibrant colors here
Enough to invoke a tear
Yet always brings cheer

The ones with / are ones I’m still deciding on. Either one works but I’m not sure which I like better.

pretty good the way they are... don't have to haiku-ize them or make them rhyme each line... i'm a great fan of freeform poetry.

I might not have to
This is just the way they come
Though they might sound dumb

Free from is awesome
Haiku is to limited
To be true free forum

Given just three lines
How could I express my mind
Beyond the surface

I like the challenge
Plus the idea of haiku
So I write when blue

I know I could do whatever incredible but this is how I like to do them. I have taken bachelor English, and passed it. In that class I wrote three page papers on Poem, drama plays, and short story’s just to name a few. In the papers we had to do a certain about of figured devices, and grammar had to be perfect all done in MLA format. We also had to include quotes, or simlar things that required us to make a works cited page which is a real pain to do. I even wrote a three page paper on fire, and ice by Robert Frost. Talk about hard ;try to think of figure device, quotes, and explain your opinion on what it means in minimum three pages not including the works cited page. Now I’m going to nursing school so I don’t have the prerequisites to make an English degree but if wanted to get a bachelors in English I wouldn’t have to take any English. The whole reason I write these is because I like the idea of the haiku, and this is just how they come out many times. I also writes poems, books, and all sorts of other material where I use more free form. I’m thinking about making a poem, and short story topic then post some of the Poems I’ve written along with some short stories.

The world is wounded
Bleeding but no one can see
Breathing a hurt breath

Take, and take again
From the country’s own people
Prosperity lost

A ideal world i dream
If it ain’t broke why break it
Please go back to sleep

Love is like a brand
I just want to know I can
Be so much more now

Work is what it takes
Keep a strong mind, and body
Rise above trauma

Taking the first step
Has me frozen in terror
It has to be done

The path is unclear
I must walk it anyway
To see my life rise

A knight standing tall
Though life throws pain, and sorrow
He gives up no ground

The wind, sky , and stars
A breeze, sight, and shining lights
To direct, and guide

A new year circles
Will this be my chance to change
Shall I just refrain

Alone, and afraid
A young man prays for warmth
Tired of the cold

In search of lost things
I find things I want, and don’t
Only to forget

Weathered, and tired
Is the rock in the river
A constant flow hits

I honest can’t stop
Addicted to the haiku
Shines light when I’m blue

Sinking down river
Pulled away under current
Toward the great big blue.

Gigantic mountain
Piercing through the grand white clouds
Towers in the sky.

A silent forest
Filled with lushness and great green
A picture to keep

A heart of malice
Chained in hate, and deep loathing
A heart made to break.

Silence before storm
Deathly quiet til thunder
Feared for the lighting

I honestly just putting these on here at this point so I don’t have to worry about forgetting them. Always loved Japanese culture but didn’t think I would ever love haikus this much. Trying to convey meaning In, or trying to paint a picture in someone’s mind with so few words/ syllables is something I really enjoy. I feels like it sharpens your writing skills. So that’s the reason for the constant flux of haikus. I just write these mostly off the top of my head with minimal editing usually to make it fit the rules so if if missed something please let me know. It’s also a good stress reliever so maybe give it a try everyone.

The curve of the wind
slices like a scimitar
under smiling skies

la la says the girl
dancing down the alleyway
deaf from thunderclap

Ribbons unspooling
hair tangled by fingertips
clutching at demons

Texting and talking
She really said that I said
Telling on ourselves

Aberrant fate hits
Unprepared, and caught off guard
Yet one must still rise

Leaves sway on lone tree
Alone in a desolate place
Wishing for change

Trapped inside feelings
Sometimes they never truly fade
Turning into scars

Wow really love your haikus greyfeather. Wish more would try they are really fun, and I love to see others works because they inspire me, and help me learn.

Jokes of pride, and pain
These lessons we all exchange
Think positive gain

I said, and I’ll say
Screaming til the end; unheard
Mockery is it.

Please visit my mind
Tell me if I still got time
Watch out for the mines

Lightning quick feelings
Honed into a blade that cuts
Straight through vanity

We definitely need more involved.

A mile walked bare
Bleeding feet but I don’t care
Destiny won’t wait

Solitude I hate
Adrift, alone, and so cold
Dead as stone; my heart

Envious of you
My past self who sailed through hell
Never bent but broke

I swear sometimes I think in haiku form. I’m like killer bee but with haikus.

Girl of my sweet dreams
Do you really exist here
Waiting to find you

Damaged things walk past
Remind me again; the pain
Of living in sin

Gossip can be fuel
Lies mixed with truth sling about
Just needs a small spark

Angry winds harass
Nothing spared not even grass
Empty scene greets mass

Rest atop the hill
Knowing you rob, and steal things
Cause pain but sleep sound

I don’t want to hurt
So many aspects of me
Ruined through pain; grief

My worst enemy
Stares with emerald eyes; the mirror
A copy of me

Hidden in mirage
True intentions scared to tell
One day to leave hell

Cage build with feelings
Wrap around me; suffocate
Kill all hope I hold
