Inland Botanicals - review (contest kilo)

Post by trigger »

Inland recently ran a contest, and I happened to win the main prize of one split Kilo. :D

This is awesome because I haven’t won one of these before, and I’ve also been eyeballing this vendor recently. So perfect timing!

I reached out via PM, and they were very quick to respond. After some back and forth, my package was on its way with shipping confirmation emails and invoices like any paid order. Really nice interaction overall.

I wanted to try their blends mostly as I’ve heard good things. As you can see, they were kind enough to split up my last quarter kilo into smaller amounts so I could sample more of their main strains. They were nearly out of Red Bali, but were kind enough to provide a sample.

Packaging is nice. Sturdy bags. Clean labels. Shipped priority as well, and super fast.

I opened a couple bags for a smell test, and it is definitely kratom they sent me.
In fact, it smells very nice and fresh. Clean and fragrant. Always a good sign, in my experience.

I’m going to try the Red Bali first tonight (bumping what I had planned), and if it goes well, I will be trying a blend and perhaps a Green tomorrow. Either way, I will be posting my honest thoughts here. I’m not the kind of person to trash a gift, but I’m also not the sort of person who will lie if I don’t like it. So far, I’m impress. I hope I get to say nice things about it. ;)

Give me a few hours and I’ll either edit this post or bump the thread with my thoughts. If you don’t hear from me again, I am dead, so stay away from the Red Bali. :P

Oh man! If their Red Bali is anything close to what it was a year ago, you are currently enjoying the hell out of it! When I first tried it, my normal dose amount was a tad too high for the quality of their Red Bali. So instead of 4g I took 3g. I remember going low as 2.5g once and it was still effective. Bottom line was, any time I dosed that Red Bali, it was suuuuuuppppperrrrr relax time! And once my body got used to the strength / quality / purity of it, I could slightly increase my normal daytime dose and be in sleepy land in about 2 hours. Man I miss my Inland Red Bali  Enjoy, my friend!

Red Bali - 6g on empty stomach. Evening dose. Ate 2 hrs later.

I’ll be honest, I was starting to worry up until a few minutes ago because I wasn’t feeling anything, and I didn’t want to have to say that the free kratom that was generously bestowed upon me was bunk... but it has just kicked in very nicely. I was even prepared to make excuses about my tolerance levels and having been consuming a lot of MitraMan lately, etc... thankfully, I don’t have to. This is good.

Potency - 8/10
Pain Relief - 6/10
Euphoria - 7/10
Relaxation - 9/10
Mood - 7/10
Focus - 4/10

This is a very sloooooow experience. My arms feel heavy and my body feels warm. It feels like there’s *pressure* on my face - like I’m floating in a sensory depravation tank.

The grind is pretty nice, and it’s very fragrant and kind of sweet. My wife doesn’t like the smell of kratom in general, so she doesn’t agree. I guess it’s an acquired taste. I like it now.

It’s a very benty red - it’s dark reddish brown. So are the blends I’ve looked at. It reminds me a lot of Botanical Bunny leaf. It’s denser than what’s typical. I use oblates and measure by the tenth of a gram and the pouches were smaller at 6g than most other kratom. Dry cake batter vs enriched flour.

I wish I had more - they didn’t have much left of it. I’m looking forward to trying Yellow Brick Road tomorrow morning. My wife is taking Solar Flare tonight, but don’t expect a detailed review. I’ll at least find out if she likes it.

A note on price - when they sent me a receipt, it had prices on it for four quarter kilos. Each 250g bag was listed at 45 dollars (one was 42), and the total would have been 177.50 for one split kilo. I asked if that’s the split kilo price, and she said no. Kilos are 145, so it’s probably around that.

Botanical Bunny sells quarter kilos for 20 bucks less without being part of a split. I feel like a bit of a heel complaining about price considering I didn’t pay for it, but IB is a bit on the spendy side (145 per kilo), so I don’t know if I would splurge unless the rest of these blow my mind or if they ran a coupon or a sale. I’ve definitely spent more for lower quality than what I just had though, so who knows.

Those are peak scores... didn’t have the longest of legs, tbh, but I still feel good.

Also, if someone wants to send me some of that fire SoCal batch of Red Bali, I’ll compare them for ya. ;)

Hey glad to hear you are liking the Red Bali! Your post cracked me up at the end lol  Glad you survived the Bali haha. ;)

I also wanted to add that we are looking at adding a split kilo option that will add more variety. Right now, we just have the blend splits and single strain splits, but I think we're going to be changing that soon so we can mix and match blends and regular strains. For the rest of the month, we do have a 15% off code SUMMERLOVE15 that will bring the single strain kilos down to about $102 and the blends to $124. But again, with the split kilos, we are looking at making some changes to the options soon.

Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the Yellow Brick Road tomorrow! I might try that one again in the morning as well.

You got an awesome spread. I hate it when I get that stuff that creeps up on you so slow.

My wife rated Solar Flare a 4/5 - also said it didn’t have long legs, but she really liked it.

Yellow Brick Road took 6g this morning. Similar grind and benty color to the Bali. This feels like a mid to me - not real sedating and only mildly energetic. Longer legs. It’s nice. Reviews on their site suggest this is the best kratom they’ve ever had in their lives. I wouldn’t go that far, but I definitely like it.

Potency - 8
Pain Relief - 5
Euphoria - 6
Mood - 7
Focus - 6

My wife had the Green Malaysian - also 6g. She rated it a (edit) 7. Mild euphoria. Sense of well-being. Good pain relief. She says it’s slow rather than fast. She likes it.
