Wait, what?? (Kratom in Florida)

Post by herbalhippie »

I was reading this article and got blindsided by a little blurb towards the end.

Also on Friday, DeSantis signed into law 11 other bills, none quite so controversial as this one, save for a bill cracking down on kratom (an herbal substance that has stimulant and opioid-like effects).

DeSantis signs into law industry-backed bill allowing Florida landlords to charge 'junk fees' instead of security deposits

I've been seeing things about Louisiana lately but nothing about Florida.

Edit: Ah, ok. It's being restricted to 21+.

Edit again: This is a bit concerning. If DeSantis has his eye on kratom who knows what might happen down the line.

We don't want to get into politics here, but let me say that no matter what anyone thinks about our Governor he's FAR from perfect (in fact, I would NOT vote for him for anything OTHER than Governor).

What he is, first and foremost, is a politician - and 99% of them are interested in only one thing (which is to keep their jobs - if you think about it, in ANY other profession that's a good thing. It's just not so good when it comes to the decisions a lot of politicos make about HOW to keep their jobs). I'm sure he was "told" he needed to sign this bill, as I'm equally sure he had zero role in introducing it or promoting it (remember, any state's Governor signs a TON of bills each year, most of which are just rubber-stamped because they don't have either the time or the inclination to try and research them all. Another way of looking at it - if you were a boss of some sort and you questioned every single decision your underlings made nothing important would ever get done. There's an argument to be made that's exactly what chief executives who are elected need to do but I won't get into that here).

For now kratom is okay here in the state but vigilance is ALWAYS necessary.

I'll sit in the courthouse Starbucks and take a spoonful every five minutes until a. I'm dead b. kratom is left alone c.both..

Fuck them for this bullshit! Sore losers is all they are.

Kratom must be the key. It's doing something else hey don't want it to to us and it AIN'T getting wasted as they claim.

Old song that's super interesting.

Singer is just ok, but listen to those two go with the drums and bass. Wah wah on a BASS?

We all bleed the same, as the song says, and also as I feel confident they have found out for themselves by now. 😂🤣😂

Ok, good. I'm going to lock this so it doesn't turn into any kind of political argument.
