Re: Herb Research (vendor) in the modern era?
I applied for a membership (the link seems to be gone now, so perhaps they are no longer looking), and was accepted after a bit of a wait.
I don't wish to get into any silly arguments about price, whether it is worth the price, etc. What i will say is that i like what i got very much, and I choose to have some around. I like everything i've tried, but i think that the High Queen of Malay (bag is labeled 'Jade Queen') is quite special. The Tranquil is a very close second.

lol, sometimes i do repeat a topic, mostly when I'm sleepy.
But don't draw me into the issue above, lol.
I'm a newer leafer, but many OGs talk about oldschool kratom being sold at insanely high prices; several hundred bucks for a kilo??
ANYWAY, happy Veterans' Day all you who served our country. I salute you and wish I had planned military service (too old and other obligations now).

I certainly qualify as a newer leafer even though im old, I must say even with the arguments its impressive to me just how plugged in many of you are to the origin stories and evolution of the kratom biz. I have a marketing and sales background so the whole premium-exclusive club vibe does put me off sometimes. However doesn't seem like an “all hat and no cowboy” situation with people willing to repeat buy. If people are willing to pay up for a special burn, so be it.
Truthfully if the opportunity ever presents, i don't see myself seeking it out, id def procure a bit to see for myself. Its only money right?

Aloha!
Most people who get ticked off about memberships to certain vendors need to understand they have a business and have only a limited amount of stock and shipping from Indonesia often gets delayed or seized. So it's not like they don't want your business.
I've met some great people here. Some lurkers may wonder why they can't get approved by vendor XYZ, but you haven't established a presence here or on MeWe or have a friend who can vouch for you. There is also a Trading Post here where you can purchase from XYZ to try them.
I met one girl I gave one referral to, and she already was in that and in all the same groups I was in one week after she joined DoubleMand and MeWe. She had a great personality and I had to roll my eyes cause it took me months to get into some of those groups. So make a good impression.
AND you can just order from some private vendors via their websites, or apply for membership. Keep an eye out for open sales or open rolls. Try Fused Flora, HeavenLeaf, Rhino Remedies. ALL killer leaves, some of the best people around. They are all in my regular rotation.
That's how I view it.

Sacred Plant Life Red Borneo is legit some of the best leaf ever that I've had. I got a 40-50g sample I believe (from I think Lavender) but it is truly incredible leaf! Wish I could find more of that. I sacred Plant Life even still in the kratom business these days?mivanqua wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 5:12 amIf you want to sell off a little of some of those ones that aren't too amazing, let me know. I'm definitely interested in trying all the red ones they have got. Of course the Jade Queen comes POST me being able take greensMikeEdoessomething wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 2:08 amThis! Thank you! Calling Herb Research a scam or ripping off customers just didn't sit right with me. It could be damaging to their business. And it's an insult to a company that helped bring, as you said, "unknown leaf from a relatively unknown country across the planet to a plant that helps MILLIONS, those guys at Herb Research were among them. They deserve to be able to name something that they brought to market if they want." TFH, my favorite vendor, may not be what it is today if not for companies such as Herb Research! They don't seem to have a public social media presence that I'm aware of, so it's not like they're "hyping" up their leaf as the best thing ever. Their leaf also looks different than most leaf on the market today- much more coarse and some has stem-n-vein. Their enhanced Cerah Malay (25g for $20) is the best enhanced batch I've ever had! That 25g last me a bunch of doses at 2g per dose- well worth the asking price.mivanqua wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 9:20 pm And we've all seen the receipts for his purchases when he was selling the lots, he paid WAAAAAY over $200 For a kilo! Chris probably had sweet sweet dreams of paying two hundred for a kilo from Herb Research,. that's for sure!
Some people built this whole thing up from an unknown leaf from a relatively unknown country across the planet to a plant that helps MILLIONS, those guys at Herb Research were among them. They deserve to be able to name something that they brought to market if they want.
Everything needs a descriptor or else it IS all just green mystery powder. Now at least we have some semblance of what we MAY be getting based on loose standards of "strains" created over the years. That's all. Is it a green Red Bali or is it a Super Green? They look basically alike.
And they sent me a sample of the Maeng Da, I dosed it twice, and it was among the best leaf I've ever had. I wouldn't pay $380 for it because I'm not rich LOL, but it was so good I could understand why those with the financial means would buy it! And I would def do a group buy and split it with others to get the cost down. It was what all the websites claim "Maeng Da" is, except this time it legit was like how Maeng Da's are described across the internet! And the Jade Queen is among the most unique leaf on the market. One thing about Herb Research leaf, in my limited experience using them, is that their kratom lasts a lot longer than most leaf (for me), and all had top level pain relief.
Now, some of their leaf didn't blow me away. The Sunda that is super expensive was among my least favorite, although it's still excellent and WAY above average. The Tranquil Indo was very good but I wouldn't buy a larger size of it at their prices. The Potent Indo was also good but nothing special, although I only dosed it 2 times so far.
But their Red Kali is so good I didn't hesitant to pay their asking price. The relief I get from it far out-weights the price I paid! Plus it lasts longer and I can cut back my dose size, therefore I'm getting my money's worth and then somebut at least I got to try and dearly love that Emerald Bali though. That's what is making me defend them so much, that Emerald Bali couldn't touch ANYTHING that I had at that time. And it came with a 250 of TFH 30 Year Wild Super Green (the OG one,) and that was really amazing also, but not like that Emerald Bali. The best, hands down, of my then-collection.
As far as your post above this, I agree 100%. All of those others, who knows, but all that Herb Research claim is that they started the game, which they did. I wasn't taking kratom in 2010, had no idea it even existed. Some here WERE though, and nobody has ever said a bad word about Herb Research until this thread, and there is a very good reason for that. They are special.
Ballz, usually you are correct, but here you're going over the line being that we are sans claim made by Herb Research.
UNRELATED :
My favorite probably of all came from one of those lots, I still have about eighty grams of it, the Sacred Plant Life Red Borneo. Somebody got the rest, maybe lavender? in another lot, but that is the best kratom of all time to me. Such a "Red." Smells and tastes pretty awful though.
Here it is :

It's hard for me not to take any being as it's, you know...out and all....hahaha!
Next year it will be ten years old and unless it intends to degrade considerably in the next year, which I don't foresee, two things are probably true :
1. This stuff used to be unbelievable
2. It's probably going to last forever at the remaining still
remarkable potency.
My favorite, you know, besides Baik Bali, which I still have a good quarter + of left
Hey Mivanqua, did you ever get an Herb Research membership? They are having a sale on Dec15-Jan15, the biggest sale they've ever offered from what I was told in an email recently. It's a buy 1 get 1 50% off on select products. I know I'm taking advantage of the sale and stocking up as much as I can afford on the Red Kali and Green Kali before they are gone (2 of the best strains on the market this year for me, with the Red Kali being the best I've had in a LONG time). If you're not a member but you're interested in a group buy, let me know and we can work something out. The Tranquil Indo is still very very good also. I don't know how much I can buy, because even with the sale, their prices still limit how much quantity I'll be able to purchase. But safe to say I'm buying during their sale (I was about to buy at the regular price when I got a heads up about the upcoming sale- their leaf is that worth it for me)
I have to add their current Red Kali batch is about on par (very close) with the vintage leaf we shared from Chris vintage lot we bought years ago. Let me know if interested
