I love the kids in the hall, always watched it on reruns on comedy central when it was a flagship show for the new network.

Re: Stand Up Comedy, anybody?
kids in the hall is one of the greatest sketch shows ever. maybe the only one that could rival monty python. I'm a big fan of sketch shows in general, I even follow some indie troupes on youtube. (check out Sasquatch Sketch Comedy, it's one of the best I've seen lately...not that it matters, but one of the members is Dennis Quaid's son, who has recently gotten semi-famous himself, for all you quaidheads out there)
I heard amazon did a new version, and while I would definitely watch it, I'm not going to go out of my way to see it. I'm not a fan of when bands or shows reunite after 30-40 years to do a new album/season. always reeks of a cash grab. and it's never the same. NEVER.
here's one of my recent favorites, even though it's an old one by George Carlin, it's especially prescient now with some of the current events in the US. not trying to start a political discussion!

Re: Stand Up Comedy, anybody?
To my surprise, the Amazon Kids in the Hall new series was excellent. They somehow managed to mature and update themselves, and stay the same. I was not ready for everything that happened in the first episode. Besides the humor, intelligence, and general weirdness, there was depth and pathos. As I said, I was really surprised by the quality.
Bill Burr is good, very very sharp. Bratty at times, but takes no crap.
Ricky Gervais' last special, on Netflix I think ... besides being funny it had some very profound points about our current culture. He's not afraid of being subtle. People who only see things in black and white, if you're not for us you're against us, and I'm against you. That type won't enjoy the special.
Taylor Tomlinson is one I've been watching. She's relatively young, two specials now in a few years. She has an edge I enjoy. Life hasn't been that easy for her, but she goes beyond the usual cliches about that.
Oh, and despite the fancy girlfriend brouhah, Pete Davidson, another young one, is very funny and deeply human and likeable. Like some of my favorite cousins and one of my brothers. Very familiar and very sharp. I think he is going to be a major classic comedian as he matures over the years. He's got a lot going for him, young as he is.
I watch a fair amount of standup ... well part of a lot of specials because I give myself permission to quit halfway if I'm not digging it. If there's something there my inner comedy guide will prompt me to go watch the second the half. I'm old enough. I'm allowed not to have to finish everything.
And George Carlin is always a pleasure. I just wish he wasn't so increasingly relevant.

I can include some clips that make me pee myself. I mean, I love George Carlin and Janeane Garafolo and 'Fluffy' but this stand up comedian, Iliza Shlesinger that has killed me a lot, and often: https://youtu.be/qmT9OuWkwxo

i'm a part NYer, lived there for awhile, and I like Seinfeld, but he's a little too neurotic for me.. maybe I'm too close to neurotic as him so I am defensive?? A little too complaining, I wanna see him bust out a bat on someone.
I saw the Amazing Jonathan in person in Vegas, like 15 years after I saw his Comedy Central special... hardly any new jokes, he lost the sparkle that made him a comedy for awhile. Previously when I lived in Vegas I saw Penn and Teller, but our seats were meh and the humor didn't reach our seats.
Speaking of comedy, around then, I saw Vanilla Ice right after he dropped his hiphop image. He could really rap, though, and he was a rock and roller, banged out Ice Ice Baby, gave me a headache and all the white chicks were drooling.
