Russia wants the Crimea and Donbas regions. Fucking thieves.

I have no idea if Zelenskyy will give in to stop his people from being killed.

Estonian intelligence: Russian troops have lost nearly a quarter of military equipment
Evropeyska Pravda cites reporting from Estonian err.ee, which quoted the head of the Intelligence Centre of the Estonian Defence Forces, Margo Grossberg.

"There are a lot of technicians in the Russian Federation. Although they have thrown away a quarter of the equipment concentrated there, mostly through fuel, they still have machinery," Grossberg said at a news conference at the Estonian Ministry of Defence on Monday.

He explained that, in total, a third of the entire Russian army's units were transferred to the country's border with Ukraine. This means that two-thirds remain at their bases with military equipment.
Sounds like Ukrainians are really hitting those fuel trucks!

Yes, you won't ever hear that stuff on mainstream media in the US, or Europe, or South America, or Africa, or most of Asia.

Just doesn't fit their narrative.

Where do you like to get your news from? I get it from all over the world, and you are just so right! I never see that narrative. Crazy!

Yeah, that sounds about right. When I want world news I listen to commentary that most won't. Alex Jones has been calling all of this spot on to a T for 2 decades now, he hasn't been wrong yet.

Alex Jones’ Lawyer Argues That The Infowars Host Is Just ‘Playing A Character,’ And He’s Not Unstable At All

“He’s not a stable person,” she said of the man with whom her 14-year-old son and 9- and 12-year-old daughters have lived since her 2015 divorce. “He says he wants to break Alec Baldwin’s neck. He wants J-Lo to get raped.”

“I’m concerned that he is engaged in felonious behavior, threatening a member of Congress,” she said, referring to his recent comments about California Democrat Adam Schiff. “He broadcasts from home. The children are there, watching him broadcast.”
THIS is who you get your news from? Alex Jones? Really? In his own words, its performance art. You know, like Tucker Carlson? It's a show. You should try getting information from varied NEWS SOURCES instead of listening to the guy who agrees with you.

They convicted him because the evidence they asked for didn't exist.

You probably do think he's one of those right wing quacks! Well maybe? But he's not called for the assassination of Putin like Hannity or Graham but has remained neutral of the situation... But maybe the former speaks more to your narrative

No, I have known Alex Jones was an massive idiot for quite a long time. I googled it to post an example, but I could spend all night pulling more. Sandy Hook is just one example of how he has been blatantly wrong and you are making excuses for which you don't have evidence.

There are actually very few news sources that are less legitimate than Info Wars.

Oh yeah, plenty of "conspiracies" but you got this Ukraine deal to contend with now so I'll get back on topic.
I'll keep in agreement with Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan and Alex Jones and you keep yours with Marina Abromovic, George Soros and Hillary Clinton and we'll agree to disagree 8-)

Those are very good points, but I wonder if a political science major is the best person to speak on the ultimate impact of these economic sanctions.

Oligarchs certainly are going to keep backing Putin even if they're effected... but the regular people she mentions in her last point? The workers who won't be paid? They're going to be the cannon fodder for the whims of any ambitious oligarch who wants more than what Putin offers. There is some historical precedence for coups starting once the middle class is pissed off, and Russia already had a ridiculous level of economic disparity. It's going to get even worse now. They DID just overthrow their government like, 30yrs ago. I think it could happen again. IDK if it will but I think saying 'sanctions won't topple the regime in Russia' is a little premature.

If I had to guess tho, I would say it won't happen. I think Putin is showing willingness to negotiate and back out of this situation as long as he can keep looking 'strong' and gain something. If he can end this war I think he'll stay in power. Really hard to say what will happen obviously.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida just condemned Russia for its occupation of the southern part of the Kuril Islands.

In this statement in Parliament, he said that the islands are “original territories of Japan”.

US banning Russian oil imports as Biden warns of ‘costs’

https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-does-t ... 1646151935

How Much Oil Does the U.S. Import From Russia and Why Is Biden Planning to Ban It?
About 8% of U.S. imports of oil and refined products, or about 672,000 barrels a day, came from Russia last year, said Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates LLC in Houston, citing figures from the Energy Information Administration. Of that, Russia’s crude made up roughly 3% of the nation’s imports, about 200,000 barrels a day.
https://www.barrons.com/articles/russia ... 1646667317

The U.S. Will Ban Imports of Russian Oil. What Exactly Does That Mean?
Russia is the third-largest producer of petroleum after the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, exporting almost 5 million barrels a day of crude oil in 2020, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Gonna commit a party foul and combine these statistics - This is ~13-14% of Russia's oil experts. Even if you account for Russia's increase in production its got to be over 10% and that's pretty significant

$4.60 is the going rate here today. My car has like 0.0001 horsepower and weighs less than a feather and it still hurts.

$5.79 in the UK. Guess Brexit was a bad idea!

I wonder what the threshold is before everyone starts cutting down gas use.

It's 12,654 rubles monthly, about $100 which is 1/5-1/10 the avg Russian salary according to the article.

Lets see what that will be worth in the future

Lol that deserves investigation. Amazed that is legal. Or is it??? Because WTF. Article doesn't go into detail on which assets they were except 'the ruble' but foreign currency is a ridiculous thing for a public fund to invest in. Should be re-invested back into the state imo.

It doesn't say outright in the article but apparently it was the GOP's idea to do it in the first place. Idaho is an....interesting state.
