All time favorite movies! or to watch...

Post by brave777 »

We all got favorite movies or been told to watch a movie based on your interest.

Dark City
https://www1.freemoviesfull.com/watch-m ... 64.2508431

Separated from wife, John Murdoch awakens alone in a strange hotel to learn he is wanted for a series of brutal killings but he can’tremember if he did or didn’t commit these murders.

If you got any interesting movies to watch, please post or perhaps your favorite once that you already watched. Talk about it too why it was your choice and what you liked most about it. I have Amazon Prime but for those that don't have can watch Dark City from above link. there is also director cut dark city 2008 movie, the one above is 1998. not sure which one to watch. Amazon prime has all of then i believe even the 1950 one dark city.

Funny enough, the star, Rufus Sewell, went on to star in The Man in the High Castle. Spoiler Alert!

He played a guy who in one reality was a very nice guy, but in another his nice guy persona became erased and replaced with that of a murderous Nazi. Eventually he could travel to the reality where his other self had been a good person.

That eerily echoes his role in Dark City, albeit it was reversed.

Amazon produced TMITHC, and it's free to watch for Prime subscribers.

P.S. The famed movie reviewer Roger Ebert loved Dark City, and even provided some commentary on the DVD.

Babel you going to get me hooked on star in The Man in the High Castle show, looks very promising...

I liked dark city, resembles a lot to what is going on right now and slowly people waking up to the reality. The WILL and the power people have and they don't even know it. Imagine one day to have your own world, how cool that be? Not sure if true but there is plenty talks on pale gray aliens dieing race trying to study humans, supposedly gray aliens don't have a spirit in them like we do, i wonder if it has something to do with that and put into the movie, from what i read Gray Aliens are the master of mind manipulation only if you allow and give your free will away.

No I'd never seen Dark City, looks like the kind of move I'd enjoy... And thanks for Link, I see its only available for $ on Amazon Prime (too many Free movies on Prime I never pay for one!)

For some reason your description reminded me of Memento, from 2000, a mind-blowing movie about -- two separate stories of Leonard, an ex-insurance investigator who has "short term memory loss", as he attempts to find the murderer of his wife, which is the last thing he remembers... One story line moves forward in time while the other tells the story backwards revealing more each time. — Flashbacks. The movie runs backwards from the end - meaning that we, like Leonard see events without any knowledge of what has gone before. 8-)

About the highest rating you'll find on IMDB: 8.4 - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/

I have a lot of well-known favorites like Interstellar, No Country for Old Men, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, etc. I could list dozens.

But let's talk some lesser known films. :D

Pumpkinhead (1988, R) - old horror movie with one of the best (in my opinion) movie monsters ever. Some teenagers accidentally kill a boy. The grieving father goes to a witch to summon a monster to take revenge on the teenagers. Plot is pretty basic and acting isn't the best, but the monster is so damn creepy. Love this flick.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqJ8Teiv6YY

The Last Days on Mars (2013, R) - Doesn't seem too popular with critics or viewers, but for some reason it ticks all the boxes for me and I love this movie. This is my "hidden gem" movie that nobody has ever heard of. At it's surface, it's a sci-fi movie about a research team on mars. During a dig, they unleash an ancient virus which causes the researchers to start turning into "zombie" like aberrations. Sci-fi? yes please. Zombies? yes please. And it's done in a way that isn't cheesy.

I just finished watching

The Matrix Resurrections
https://www1.freemoviesfull.com/watch-m ... 95.5606281

Wow, what a great continuation of Matrix, if you haven't seen it, its a must...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for the Memento, looks legit.

Got some coffee and a some nice chill red, time to cuddle in my pillows and full blast the sound with lights off.

Edit: Dang what a twist, kept me on edge guessing what happened.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Poison, pumkinhead trailer looks soo wacked, i think the only time i will enjoy it if i smoke a few joints or some potent THC relaxer. Feels like who created it, smoked a bunch. :o

Mentioning Grey Aliens reminded me of the lol funny show Resident Alien, where Alan Tudyk plays an alien who can trick people into seeing him as human, and who has a lot of snide comments for other alien species. :)
Harry Vanderspeigle : I thought you'd be in Georgia by now, getting probed.

Max Hawthorne : Humans don't probe. Only stupid aliens do that.

Harry Vanderspeigle : My people don't. It's the Greys that have the ass fetish.

I guess The Fifth Element and Equilibrium are two films I've watched quite a lot, and I've also frequently watched the clips of the most memorable scenes from them.

A classic in my book!

Right up there with ‘Army of Darkness’.

Well I would be surprise if anybody ever watched the panic in needle park. Al Pacino stars in it before he was in scarface I think. Very wonderful movie made in 1971. It’s a love story about two heroin addicts. Honestly it’s a work of art that is under appreciated in my opinion. Definitely the first movie that came to mind when I thought about this thread. Might edit this later. Alright so I read people already recommending some of my favorites like fight club, city of god, and trainspotting. If you haven’t watched those they are definitely worth a look. Drugstore cowboy another great movie starring Matt Dillon made in 1989. Now the premise is simple but the plot has some complex undertones to it. It’s actually based off a book by James Fogle that wasn’t published yet because he was in prison because he’s a real drug addict/ dealer. One of the most accurate portrayals of drug addiction I’ve even seen capturing just how brutal it is, and how the lines so easily get blurred in the face of addiction.

Yes thanks for reminder. Pacino's 3rd movie just before he did Godfather. and before Serpico... and "Cruising" haha ever see that? 8-) Man I dig all the old gritty NYC movies, think I've seen Midnight Cowboy a few times. I'd watch Needle Park again unfortunately it's not available anywhere not even Prime! only on DVD for $30, a few old movies are not streamed.

Pumpkinhead is a decent horror flick, Lance Henriksen, always plays a raging psycho... :o check out Johnny Handsome, Film noir at its best, Mickey Rourke when he was young and pretty. Gets his face re-arranged by Lance - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097626/

Crime action movies, one of the best is "Heat" directed by Michael Mann, w/ Pacino & DeNiro facing off... nearly 3 hours & based on true event the North Hollywood Shootout bank robbery in Los Angeles. Heat IS available free on Pluto TV! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113277/

I really liked Dark City; you will love City of Lost Children, a French movie, has a similar aesthetic, and one of Ron Perlman's first starring roles.

Casablanca, True Romance, Trainspotting, too many to remember.

Hey Brave, you might also like City of God. It's not a favorite or a feel good movie, but made a strong impact, just the overall tone and the acting. I felt like it had a sort of Russian sense of loss and bleakness (it's set in a city in south america), like how many Russians feel about society and life.

City of Lost Children

Wow, my favorite part was at end when they were swimming away on a boat, she looks into his eyes and he into her, he says "everything will be alright baby girl, we did it!"

IndelibleDotInk Thank you for the great movie. It will be in my collection for good.

I came across a cute little gem tonight.

“Welcome to Happiness”

I had a really rough New Year’s Day. Two of our family pets passed away (our older kitty and our daughter’s guinea pig), so it was just the ‘feel good’ kinda thing I was looking for. Put a nice little smile on my face 🙂

Max and Mei passed away last January and I still miss them every day, but have some peace. Time blunts the feelings of loss.

Also Max had been pooping diarrhea and peeing under the living room table for a year, and Mei had to have her pee expressed by pushing her sides in and her poop removed with gloved finger, rest of the time she had snazzy diapers on, for three years, so it was a relief to my mom and me, but we loved them so much and their quality of life was fine, so we held onto them until they were ready to leave.

If your dog or cat needs cloth diapers, check out barkertime.com diapers, they are a great company with a product that works amazingly well. Mei was so fashionable in them, and they have a separate elastic suspenders strap which kept them on but were comfortable as heck (she never tried to take them off or exhibited any discomfort). It was a joy to watch her being so free with them on and fashionable. I paired her diaper colors with her collar and blinky light colors, and also on the occasions with a bandana. She was the only dog in the neighborhood rockin skull motifs.

City of God is not a feel good movie, but it provokes a strong reaction and the acting is superb. Cycle of violence and poverty and humanity.

Watched Matrix Resurrection, I have to watch the last Matrix revolution to make sense of it. It would feel like homework, though, lol.

I never liked the pairing of Keanu with CarrieAnn Moss, they don't have chemistry. Neither did Laurence Fishburn and Jada Pinkett.

I have the urge to watch Romancing the Stone. It's like a Indiana Jones but with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in her prime.
