Yes I am looking forward to the open event too!! If you join the trading post here on doubleM you can likely pick up some TFH from other members.

Where did you read that? Just wondering, I only saw him mention that he was considering doing one this year, but nothing concrete. I may have just missed it

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to chime in. Over the last few years I have ordered from a bunch of different vendors that I found on here trying to find one who I liked. Luckily one day I stumbled onto a Gumbyke1 thread about the state of the industry. My eyes began to be opened as to how this is produced. I still admit I know very little in comparison with people who frequent here (Ballzdeep9 and others). I like to think I’m just a regular person trying to function and provide myself with the best quality of life I can. Anyway, I initially connected with Gumbyke1 as a tester. I liked the product and I appreciated the transparency he provided. When they expanded and took on more customers I was eager to join. Needless to say I only order from TFH now. In my experience, not only is TFH’s product superior to other vendors but ordering is simple and the menu is updated daily. I highly recommend ordering from here if you get the opportunity.

Kinda new here but I have had TFH before, and of course, it's wonderful. Is there any indication of when it'll be accessible again? I guess I need to check here more often but just curious if there's some way to get an alert?

One thing I've been wondering, do the batch numbers at TFH ever change? I've noticed that some of them have been the same for several months, which is surprising given the quality. Those must have been monster shipments. Just looking for some clarity since I may have burnt myself out on a couple and probably wouldn't re-up on those specific ones unless it was a new batch.

Anyone know when they going to do a Open house for everyone to buy from them? Because I was hoping to win the raffle for a membership I buy Kratom weekly. I really liked TFH rocket red and blast off Bali.

Hey Raven. I just answer this same question on another thread. Thanks for your interest!

Thanks for your interest! Sorry for being so in the dark with a timeline. We had hoped to do an event around the holidays, but it just didnt pan out. We have been testing a TON of products over the past 2-3 months in preparation for the wet season - so it has kept us very busy.

Ideally, we would like to try and hold an event sometime in Q1. I think we should probably be able to announce something in the coming weeks. Thanks!

I keep coming back to TFH kratom, and finished second bag of 250g. Was a great ride during the wild days of 2020, Big thank you to Gumby Chris and his team! Tons of respect, i mean i love every batch. I noticed you try it again later and it blows me out of water compare the first time. There is seriously something unique and different about TFH. Can't wait to see what this year will bring! 8-)

It's not a dumb question. :D TFH doesn't have a website and is members only, that's why you can't find them on-line. They do have open events for Double M users, though so watch this thread for the next one. I think it's supposed to be in February.

Thanks for that question - its a good one and honestly one I dont think I have ever publically explained!

If the batch numbers are the same, you can be 100% certain that it is the same batch. I understand it can seem strange to see items on our menu for long periods because what you will usually see is “hot” batches with other vendors sell out fairly quickly. However, its quite a bit different with us because we take a very unconventional approach in how we operate - especially in the areas of production, sourcing, and procurement. We never specifically set out to become a kratom vendor and I think that has everything to do with why we operate a little differently. Basically, it all started as a result of my own dissatisfaction as a consumer. When I was a consumer, I would bounce around vendor to vendor looking for the "holy grail" of vendors. It seems that I always seemed to run into the same 2 problems wherever I went. IMO, these two issues are major flaws in the majority of the industry:

1. QUALITY - There was very little consistency in regards to quality. I routinely found myself buying 4-8 different batches in hope of finding 1-2 items that I liked (something I call "kratom-roulette"). I now know that personal chemistry can have a part in this, but your odds of finding a good batch dramatically improve with some very scrutinized sourcing. Things have gotten better through the years but I still shop around to "test the market".... its still a problem.

2. SCARCITY - When I did find something I liked, it was often sold out by the time I was ready to place another order(and sometimes sold out by the time I received my package).

In my previous career, there was a saying that I used to preach like a broken record. "Remove the obstacles for the customer and just offer what they want.". I suppose I drank enough of my own kool-aid to believe that we could do something special if we just removed those two customer hurdles – so that is basically what we set out to do. We are nowhere near satisfied with where we are in relation to that goal – but I think the folks who have followed us would agree that we are continually improving at what we do.

There is a lot that we do differently that is visible to people paying attention – but I think we are even more unique in how we operate “behind the scenes”. I’ll expand a little bit on what’s different, but before I go further, I want to emphasize that I am not advocating that our approach is "better" than any other vendor, this is just the only way that we have figured out how to best achieve our goal. Additionally, although I think it applies to many, not every other vendor fits into the "box" that I describe below. I know there are probably many vendors smarter than I who have effectively figured out their own way of operating. There are good vendors in this community in which I honestly have no idea of how they operate.... and they have my respect all the same.

Many quality-focused vendors will import smaller batches more frequently, as there are many advantages for a vendor to operate this way.

1. Frequently turning your menu will dramatically increase your customer traffic (sales) and can even instill some FOMO buying on batches that are getting a lot of chatter (echo chambers are a real problem in the kratom community, but that is for another discussion).

2. The biggest advantage in smaller batches is that you wont get stuck with a ton of any one product that is poor in quality.

With most vendors (again this might not apply to all), ordering a ton of a specific batch is very risky because you really can't be certain of the quality of that batch until it's paid for and already in your possession. When a vendor orders products from their suppliers, it’s just like when you do…. you never know what you are getting in terms of quality until it arrives (otherwise vending would be a piece of cake). Vendors actually have it even worse than consumers because at least consumers can read reviews on the forums to aid their buying decisions. Every vendor has stories of "bad buys". In addition, as a vendor, you can't really order more of a batch that is performing well. Even if you ask your supplier for more of the same batch on the day you receive your shipment, it will almost certainly not be from the same stock (even though they will SWEAR that it is  ).

At any rate, I couldn’t find an effective way to remove those two customer hurdles while operating in the model I outlined above. With that, we took more of a slow and steady approach and have spent much of our time/energy in managing our supply chain. This has enabled us to have much more control over certain aspects of production and supply. The slow growth and supply management adds extra layers of cost to our operation, but we are in it for the long-game (besides, it's the only way I have been able to figure out how to achieve our goals).

To avoid boredom, I will spare you the details of our procurement process, but I will share that our method affords allows us to scale our inventory up or down based on how batches perform in consumer quality testing. We do extensive consumer testing (to remove customer hurdle #1) and when we find something consumers really like, we try to go get our hands on as much of it as we can (removing customer hurdle #2). The natural result of this is some of the batches that scored best in consumer testing may be on our menu for a very long time because we bought/kept every bit of it we could.

The second component that contributes to the long-standing menu items is we intentionally limit our customer base (sorry Double M fam!), ensuring we have the product to support them. I think many people assume we limit our base for privacy reasons….nothing you do on the internet is private folks, lol  .

The majority (not all) of our members eventually order every batch that appears on our menu – and we kind of manage our inventory levels accordingly. All this is taken into account while deciding how much product to procure and when/how often we hold community events. We haven’t perfected this by any means, we will still have batches that sell out quickly, only because we just were not able to acquire that much of it to begin with. However, “too much of a great batch" is just not in our vocabulary…. If it’s good we are going to carry as much of it as we possibly can (see the 30 Year Wild Super Green that has been on our menu since last year.... its still in my personal use rotation ;) ). We can do this because even if we import enough of a specific batch for each of our members to order 5kg, we know that the quality of that batch will eventually sell itself (whether through a Double M community event or allowing volunteer testers to make purchases).

Thanks again for the question, I hope that clears up some of the confusion! I noticed that when we have community events, a lot of “first-time TFH’ers” really miss out on some of our best batches because they will usually order what we have recently added (there tend to be much more reviews for newer items). I haven’t figured out a way to let them know what they are missing – if anyone has any ideas let me know!

One thing I suggest is asking for a recommendation from you when sending the order email. I did this once and was pleasantly surprised with what you sent. I don't know if this is a lot of extra trouble for TFH, but it worked for me!

I think that’s a great idea Metalmama. Also people should definitely try the Kratom in the little sample bags Chris sends with each order. My last few orders I’ve only bought from the samples I was sent. It’s a great way to try new things. And if you happen to be a low doser there is enough to try each sample a few times before purchasing

^ TFH should post this there as well. I think samples *would* be a great way to generate interest in the products, but as said here - it would only really work well if you have the stock to sell weeks later, which some vendors do not because of how they do things.

That said, I still appreciate the freebees even if I can't ultimately get a bag, I mean, it's free kratom, what's not to like ha-ha.

Thank you Chris, as always, for taking the time to share with us. I know I'm not the only person who is delighted to catch your posts... and learn. just so you know... I'm confident the majority of us wouldn't be the slightest bit bored if you indulged us with more details of your procurement process ;) altho, a lot of us already do have a pretty good idea of at least some of those details thanks to your generous 'behind the scenes' gift. oh how I would looove to order every batch on your menu. goals :D thank you for all you do.

Before the next open event some of us who are willing will make a post of the TFH must try stuff for non members to be able to easily select some straight fire. After being a consumer for so many years I love the TFH business model and from all the transparency and all the time and work they put into consumer testing and ensuring they are trying to give us the very best product they can that like chris says they are in it for the long game and honestly I dont see anyway they arent just going to keep getting better and better. I got some great ones during the open event...but the last two tfh orders ive gotten have been straight fire like some of the closest to perfect batches ive ever had and thats over a range of different selections. The color, smell, and burn of them is just excellent and right now I am absolutely blown away with the quality of products TFH is providing especially getting product like that in the thick of wet season but gumbyke1 said about stocking up on a highly rated batches seems like the perfect solution to avoiding subpar wet leaf

I'll 3rd that statement!! Top shelf for sure. Last few months TFH leaf has been among it's best.

I would love to know the name of Green 15 if anyone has learned that?? I also tested a bunch of awesome strains (which I reviewed I think somewhere in this thread lol). I stalk/check their menu every single day for updates haha
