Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
Has anyone tried any of AH's varieties? He has quite a few kinds-wax, crumble, and what looks like a powder extract. I don't know the ratio to regular kava, what a good dosage would be, and what the best method of ingestion is. I'm not big into kava or anything but these items caught my attention.

I was wondering the same. I’m just getting into kava and have enjoyed some instant, micro and lately some medium grind with the help of an Aluball. But those AH variations caught my attention to and would love to hear more about them or comments from those that have tried them already.

Received 30% extract and got a sample of 80% wax.
Will report on extracts after consumption.

My experience:
I bought both the Yellow and Deep Red 80% extracts. He recommends 200mg taken sublingually.
I thought I would play it safe and take less than recommended for my first experience, around 120mg. I'm glad I did.
It has a pretty strong numbing effect as the wax melts under your tongue. As it melted and I swallowed, the numbing residuals when down deep into my throat.
I found this to be a very unpleasant feeling...It felt like my esophagus/throat was closing up and I was on the edge of not being able to breathe, which led to a small panic attack episode.
Big head rush and rapid heartbeat, panicked feelings like I might have to call 911 for a few minutes - not fun.
I drank some hot tea to make the thick throat feeling go away.
After I was able to calm myself down, I didn't feel any of the Kava benefits, probably because of the adrenaline in my system from the panic attack.
I don't feel much like chancing another sesh with this stuff. Maybe spit it out instead of swallowing if taking sublingually?
I do like Kava, but maybe the concentrated effects are not for me.

Re: Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
The 80% wax didn't seem too strong, even when I added a large pea-sized amount of 70% extract from Sage Wisdom.
However I did have a little food prior to taking it.
The 80% is waaaaayy better than the Sage Wisdom in terms of texture and taste. It also comes in a cute silicone cup and lid so you can scoop all of the wax out.
Gonna take the rest of the 80% and add some of the 30% tonight. Update soon.

Hmm... Maybe there's a special way to ingest the extract. it seems like if it's something like 80% there's got to be something good about it.

Re: Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
Not much effect with the bit of 80% I had left and some 30%. Again, had some food.
Currently trying 2g of 30% on an empty stomach. Recommended starting dose is 250-500mg.
The taste is not unpleasant, a mild "rooty" like it says on the website (https://appalachianherbs.net/collection ... 6753571972), but I have been chasing it with almond milk.

Thanks for the reports - they are interesting and helpful. I’m still on the fence as to whether to try some or not. But the prices are reasonable so I’ll probably go for it soon.

Hah, so I was measuring wrong, not sure what's up with my scale.
Continuing, I ingested 2.5g of the powdered extract and 4.5g Denette's green bone.

Re: Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
I think it's my personal chemistry; this 30% extract hasn't had much effect on me, taking 2g then again and again and again over the course of a few hours.
I am hesitant to take larger amounts; though the mass of this extract is much less than the micronized root powder I have been taking (as it should be, being a concentrate), I was told 2500mg is about right for some people.
If anyone else tries this, let me know.

Re: Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
i bought a small slicone cup (2g i think?) of the 80% wax co2 extract, im a kava noob and i diddnt want to numb the fug outa my mouth, need to get used to that feeling. so i put 200mg into a 00 cap.
effects kicked in in about 20 min and lasted about 1.5 hrs, was very relaxed a nice not overbearing almost euphoric calm, spent the time doing some prep cooking for the weekend...i also added another 200 mg cap about 45 min in. all in all i liked it, i capped the rest in 300mg doses.

Sorry to hear you had this reaction, unfortunately all botanicals can have adverse reactions and kava in particular it seems like some people are sensitive to the sensation.kratomKonnie wrote:My experience:

Re: Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
Weird when 80% should be 80%, but in reality it doesn't work out that way I suppose. Sorry you didn't get more from it. Reverse tolerance, and personal body chemistry are a big issue with kava. I know it's solid stuff because I tried just about every extract on the market before I started selling it myself. I prefer the deep red personally since I find that for sublingual the more liquidy extracts are more effective. Everyone has different preferences though. I know some guys who swear by the crumbleIndelibleDotInk wrote:The 80% wax didn't seem too strong, even when I added a large pea-sized amount of 70% extract from Sage Wisdom.

Glad to hear that everything worked out well for you. Description is spot on for what I get out of a 200mg burn.flybye99928 wrote:i bought a small slicone cup (2g i think?) of the 80% wax co2 extract, im a kava noob and i diddnt want to numb the fug outa my mouth, need to get used to that feeling. so i put 200mg into a 00 cap.

Re: Appalachian herbs kava extracts?
I’ve made 2 orders of 4 grams of the 80% extract and enjoy it. I don’t have a scale so eyeing it (as well as having a high tolerance for everything) can make it hard to get the proper dose. It’s pretty mellow compared to a good kava tea, but I also haven’t pushed it too far cause I’m more worried about taking “too much” extract than “too much” kava tea. I’m kinda just rambling cause I haven’t seen too much written in for on this product. It really helps with anxiety and there is a nice buzz. I like it more than normal kava in that it’s quick, easy, and painless. With normal kava, it is just too much of a process for me
With micronized, there are good effects but almost always overwhelmed with nausea
With this extract, zero nausea and idk I just like it lol. I want to take larger amounts but worry how much is truly safe so I may get a scale. Anyway, I would recommend! Super cheap, great service and great shipping. S/o to Appalachian thoughhhhh
