Re: Coronavirus discussion
I didn't think I would feel this way because I'm used to isolation, but I am FED UP with this situation. My county is quite large, but there have only been THREE deaths from COVID 19. We can all go get tested on demand. Nurses are being sent home because they aren't needed. And yet people continue to grab every roll of toilet paper, every gallon of milk as though there will never be another. Of course, I live in a capitol city, so most people work for the state. They are all likely getting paid no matter what they are doing, so they can spend. I'm not a "spender" but the complete shut-down of society is starting to look absurd - at least where I am living. I should add that "buying things" is the number one activity in this town - next to working. People here - literally - can't think of any other way to amuse themselves. So small business people and their employees are really hurting. Of course, it's OK to put "certain people" in the line of fire (gig workers, essential workers). I don't feel like it's fair that they have to bear all the burden of risk.
I hate Trump but I want this to end. My Significant Other has turned into a raging maniac and I'm actually afraid of him. He is not thinking clearly about ANYTHING because he is a "do-er" not a "think-er." And I don't really mean to use that distinction. I guess what I mean is that he doesn't have enough imagination to keep his mind occupied yet is not showing any interest in helping around the house, fixing things etc. He is just obsessing over dumb shit that is going to wreck us if we can't go back to living in our collective delusions - because, let's face it, that's pretty much what humans do.
I cannot even imagine living with a man and a couple of kids under these circumstances. Tempers are getting short. I have decided that if I were to get sick, I will isolate until I'm well or it gets me. Sorry this sounds so bleak. This is why I don't believe in the death sentence. Humans weren't meant to live this way. Someone who has committed monstrous crimes will suffer far greater in prison/isolation than if they were given the release of death.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
I'm sorry, Greyfeather.
It's one thing if both people in the home can adjust, but if one can't...it must be very hard indeed.
I'm a homebody recluse and so is my son so we're pretty much right where we want to be. That makes the situation a LOT easier. It's a blessing.
I've been reading here and there that it's felt that maybe 25% of the cases of the virus are asymptomatic. Today I read that it might even be much higher than that. That the majority of cases could be asymptomatic. Which is good in a way, no one wants to be that sick. But then there's the percentage that will get very ill indeed and possibly die. I think of that when I want to go out for that one little thing at the store I'm craving. Or when I do go for a bigger shop and see that the majority of people are not wearing masks. Yeah, it would be good in some ways to open up but I really don't think it's a good idea now. My gut keeps telling me June at the earliest.
I really don't want to find out that I'm one of the people who will get deathly ill. I've had very bad cases of the flu, I can't imagine being sicker than that, it's horrifying to consider.

I've made 14 masks in 5 days. I think I'm done and then I start to feel antsy so I make another mask or two until I don't feel antsy anymore. It's a good distraction. And now I have a mask wardrobe.![]()
STILL NO UNEMPLOYMENT.
But on the other hand I just ordered a split kilo from TFH as a gift to myself

They have a bunch of new strains and since the world is currently on fire I figured treating myself is worth it! I was hoping to have the order by my birthday today but was stupid and ordered Tuesday night thinking I was getting ahead of the storm of orders he was gonna get. Ordered way too late for that.
I'm going to see if I can go one whole day without checking the unemployment website or my bank account tomorrow. I've been checking them all day long for I don't know how long now. Washington state is supposed to be making a bunch of changes on the 18th maybe I'll see if I can even go till the 19th without checking and maybe I'll have a surprise. Lol

I'm in the same boat as you as far as not checking unemployment website. I'm in a better position than most as I take care of my parents, and my dad gets disability social security income monthly and my mother's job is essential so I have two incomes to give me a safety net. And when unemployment does finally get approved I'll get whatever back pay for the weeks I've missed as I've done the weekly certifications. And I had finally gotten out of debt last year and saved up some money and freed up credit on my one credit card, So in that regards I'm grateful to have something to fall back on. My real concern is for all the people without safety nets, savings or family, those who live paycheck to paycheck. It hurts to watch so many suffering and worried and afraid.
Hope you get approved soon for your benefits! And great masks!

Re: Coronavirus discussion
That mask making has been a wonderful little SOMETHING we can DO to help with this ongoing disaster. Our entire town has not been tested yet. 2 fatalities is all we actually know. Whether those had existing comorbidities (I think they call it when someone is already dying when they get this thing). How people who are already dying get exposed to the virus is curious. All of the conspiracy theorists that everyone has been teasing and/or ignoring are so far, ON POINT. Once the US dollar loses value in comparison to other countries, the theories will have proven to be correct ALL ALONG. I still hope for a miracle (that not happening).
Insense is still doing business and extremely grateful to be working in safe environments. A lot of folks are not being kept safe while working and it’s such an outrage!
Wishing everyone here health and safety...

Haven't gotten the package just yet... My package hasn't shipped yet lol, Chris from TFH is insanely busy and slammed so I haven't even paid for the order! He said he got hundreds of emails, the response was much bigger than usual, and they are already short staff due to the virus so its totally understandable and expended during this pandemic. TFH has amazing customer service. It's all good though, all good things come with patience and TFH is as good as it gets! I don't mind at all waiting to order, I have a couple years worth of stock to hold me over
I'm enjoying the day, hanging with my parents. It's hard to be positive and not be stressed, you're so right. I've had my fair share of those days and feelings of hopelessness. But trying to stay positive and look at the good side and find joy in simple things like family time, etc. Hope you get to laugh and hope again soon!! Be safe and take care and thanks for the b-day shoutout

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Ok so i had to do more shopping at home depot and lows, i came after 6 pm to home depot to find out it closes at 6pm now?? ahh bummer. so i went to lows, and whhhaaat ? had to drive around to find a parking lot... why so many people after 6pm at lows is beyond me, i thought it would be chill and everyone locked up in a house. 50% of people didnt have any masks including me,
, I looked at every one funny if they had weird masks on. lol any way, when i came up to the door, lows employee greeted me with a message, he said all lows in USA debit/credit was offline... and only cash or check. Good thing i had cash on hand. Guys i am telling you, if you got no cash, GO ATM NOW and get some... it feels very bad when you cant asses a card. When i was leaving lows i thought about some video where guy was talking about they going to try to get rid of cash, is this the new way experimentations of getting rid of cash? I dont know. i hope not. Then i stopped by a small german grocery store, this one had 75% masks on and 25% who didnt including me. But mannn people are very creative and some masks i can tell is home made, some look very very weird. I wish i could take pics but that would look weird me asking them if i can take a pic and if its home made. Lol any way , every one make sure YOU WASH YOUR HANDS,.,. you have to listen to me!

Re: Coronavirus discussion
You guys are awesome. I busted my mask between grocery store and pharmacy. Fortunately I got a safety pin to hold it together. It’s merely expressing courtesy and consideration of fellow humans, nothing more. That’s fine. I’m not into offending people. But NO SMILES and people don’t even make eye contact - we are DEVO!
I’m sorry you were depressed today, hhippie. I often get depressed and have no idea why. My diet sometimes makes it worse. Sugar over indulgence is usually a contributing factor that I’m struggling with since I quit smoking/vaping.
I forgot to mention that I accidentally touched my mouth
while fussing with my mask. Between stores
Although I handled many disinfect wipes during my shopping adventures, I figured I’m either screwed or seriously lucky. No sign of problems yet - and that was yesterday
I also like checking out the various mask choices. One kid with a black ski mask freaked me out. Mandatory dressing like a terrorist...who’d have thought? It’s phucked up. A facade of safety. Washing hands and keeping fingers out of my own mouth (duh) are key. It was a slip while getting one of my “emergency” kratom doses while sitting in the car between the two stores. High pain day - my tolerance is a mess but that’s why I keep good products on hand for emergencies. We absolutely needed watermelon and canned food for the dog. Yes, both are for him. He chases me to the fridge if I even THINK about also having some, lol.
Mom cut her own hair and it’s actually super cute! A bob! So much better than her granny bun.
Peace and relief from fear and illness threats!

I don't know what the weather is like where you live, but we have been thrown back into winter the past week with a couple inches of snow on Friday. I hate winter so much. It felt like we were going backwards and I don't think anyone wants to do March all over again. Of course when you have to stop working suddenly it's very... disorienting, to say the least. Maybe start another creative project, along with making salve (that sounds like very satisfying work)herbalhippie wrote:I saw on Reddit that Lowes was cash & check only today.

Same! Someone posted a picture of last year, 2 years & 5 years ago compared to this week and it was nostalgic! People running around the beaches (even though ours stay chilly for a while) vs a snowy week. So far I have been lucky my work became remote... Actually, not much has changed for me because I'm used to trying to stay mentally sane when you're surrounded with family members with their own issues/monologues/constant pervasive 1 mood only or teenagers running around (lol they literally can go from 0 to 10 in 30 minutes). I'm looking forward to picnics out in my backyard as soon as it gets warm.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Now I'm reading that - according the The WHO - there's no assurance that people who recover from COVID 19 can't be infected again. This is discouraging, to say the least. Does that, then, rule out the theory of "herd immunity?" It's the assumption that a community can resist a virus after enough people have been ill and recovered from it. After the 'wave' rushes through will it turn back on us again? I'm also reading reports that the virus does not exclusively cause a respiratory response. Doctors are finding clots in the bodies of many of those who did not survive
Where they expected to find evidence of pneumonia, for example, they found countless tiny clots in the lungs. The clotting isn't just there either; pretty much any part of the body (doctors were tipped off by the high number of patients having strokes). People in their 30s and 40s are being affected this way
This is starting to feel like one of the hundreds of "apocalypse flicks" that have been popular for decades. Our governor is going to keep us all indoors throughout May. I guess I'm in no position to complain at this point.

Possibility on all counts, greyfeather. An online friend that I've known since the early 2000s and trust posted something on FB yesterday about this that was pretty chilling.
Guess I'll make some more masks because I know I will be wearing one for a very long time most likely.

We are all ordered to wear masks starting May and I don't have any, so now I'm kind of excited about making some. Actually, once I saw your groovy masks I was inspired, but the bobbin case in my sewing machine is broken. If I can't get it fixed I figure hand-stitching is still fun (even if it takes more time). That's how I started sewing in the fist place! I doubt if I have any fabric like yours thoughherbalhippie wrote:Possibility on all counts, greyfeather. Since I cannot find any masks to buy also, if anyone makes masks and wants to sell a few, I'd buy a couple for me and my mom! I know they are letting people wear any face covering for a mask, but the pics of these homemade masks look great. I'd also rather help support a forum member by buying off them than just throwing something from my closet around my face lol

screw it I'm going with a full wrestling mask, Super Destroyer style! wanna wear a mask, OK then.. lets do it right. Went to a large natural food grocery store (like Whole Foods, U have those in Cali, Insense?) + they now require all customers to wear mask. All stores have installed plexi glass at Checkout stand.. so you can't sneeze in their face I guess.. A friend w sewing machine, did make me a very cool mask w/ ear loops.
I stocked up last week on 420 Day, drink my green alk smoothie w/ shot of Cannabis syrup, get totally blasted & then wander around the hood it's so empty and weird like a post apocalyptic landscape.. more n more, like a Brave New World dystopian nightmare as it sinks in, this ain't going away really.. and prob mutate and come back worse in Fall. Had to tell my fam siblings by phone that I may never see them again. In the High Risk group here.. scary but a definite possible.

After waiting 5 weeks with no unemployment I started calling the adjudicator line a couple minutes before they opened at 7:00 and got connected at 7:04. Then was on hold for just under 2 hours. Finally got my claim sorted and she said payment would go out tonight. I'll believe it when I see it.
Adjudicator lady was very nice though. I've seen some people say they've gotten some unfriendly people on the other end.
I feel better.

Awesome HH!! I still have a "pending resolution" on mine where it lists issues delaying payments. But it says on my homepage that I have been $2350 on 4/24 ($660 in weekly benefits, so $110 a week for 6 weeks, no idea why so low, better than nothing, plus $600 in federal aid for 3 weeks). And after I did another weekly certification on Sunday, yesterday it sayd $710 was issued under the payments tab. My status is for PUA because I was "ineligible" for unemployment for some reason, but for PUA it shows status is "OPEN" which I believe is good news and next step will be approval (I hope lol)herbalhippie wrote:After waiting 5 weeks with no unemployment I started calling the adjudicator line a couple minutes before they opened at 7:00 and got connected at 7:04. I'm getting the payments, when they come, in a debit card so I may not have it for another week or two. I just hope the "pending resolution" goes away. I've had co-workers have it go away on its own but others who have not. Calling in NC is a joke. And for my monetary determinations it has me listed as making $0 in all base periods for all of 2019
But great news for you, and glad you got your issues all sorted out!

Yup, been furloughed since March 16th... my homepage screen says I've been paid but there's an issue "delaying payment" which I think requires an actual human to resolve. And they mystery of why it says I made $$0$$ in all of 2019 when I uploaded my 2019 w2 directly to that page that determines wagesherbalhippie wrote:So they say they've been paying you but you haven't got any money yet?

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Finally some positive individual news amidst the global horror of our reality--- I actually spoke to a live human being from unemployment
I literally almost cried when the kind lady told me I've been approved, and that my debit card is in the mail already and that I should have the card by next week at the latest. I was in shock that a real person answered after 100's of calls over the past 6 weeks, that I wasn't even speaking straight and almost forgot what I needed help with
I must have asked the unemployment worker 10 times if she was sure my claim was approved and my debit card was in the mail, and that this was not a cruel joke (kidding on just the last part
)... To my relief she told me I'm good, and even told me the exact amount of money that has been deposited on the debit card: $3700
What a relief! My state unemployment finally changed and expanded their call center hours so I got through around 7pm (they used to close at 5pm, now they stay open till 8pm, today was first day of longer hours so I think I got lucky with the timing). The woman helping me was so nice, I honestly wanted to just chat with her about her day and tell her thank you 1000 times lol.
Hope anyone else dealing with this gets a resolution soon! I was furloughed on 3/16 and have not been payed anything since and was burning through some savings. Now on to a TFH celebration order!!

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Jeez, I have to share this cause I'm still shaking:
We rent an old house on an old street. Nothing spooky though. It's one and a half storeys: a bath at the top of the stairs and a room on either side (across a tiny landing.
Mr. Grey went shopping hours ago. I was exhausted and so crawled into bed early. It took him extra long to shop because before checking out his stuff he ducked into the men's room. When he came out his cart was gone and he had to do it all all over again! I have never seen that happen when a cart is outside the restrooms. When he got home he unlocked the door, came in and put things away. Then he came up to find me.
As he was climbing up the steps a black cat, its tale up in the air silently stepped out of the bedroom (where I was asleep), looked at My Guy in the face and crossed over into the other room (my office). I heard him and woke up, and this is when he told me what had happened. We went over every inch of my room. Didn't take long. Then the rest of the house. There is no cat in this house, no way it could have gotten in. We have several black cats that roam the neighborhood. I found one in the street last Fall, near the house. He was dying because he had been struck by a car. There was NO saving him even though his tail kept waving spasmodically. I ran into the house to make a call. When I reluctantly went back to check, the kitty was gone, but the blood was still there. Someone must have taken him away. He was near death.
This is all so crazy. I don't think he was "seeing things" but an animal would have made its presence known by now?
Is this a portent? I'm terrified, thinking all sorts of things.
I'm thinking "My Guy was in that store too long; a presence - alive or not - left the room where I slept and then crossed Mr. Grey's path."
A real cat would have freaked out; would be climbing the drapes trying to get out, or approach us? Our lives took a turn for the strange years ago. I don't know what to think.

Sounds like me yesterday. Are you SURE??? Oh god! Thank you SO MUCH!! I might have shed a few tears too. I know I started shaking badly when I called and actually got connected and didn't quit shaking until about an hour after I got off the phone.MikeEdoessomething wrote:

Feels wonderful to have that stress off your mind, doesn't it? The Pending ACH showed up on my bank account today. It was sad looking at the ui payout on their website and seeing how much the 10% withholding was being kept back but I didn't want any unpleasant surprises at next tax time.

What a great, creepy story! Maybe it was a pet from the past! I moved into a haunted house about 20 years ago and the situation was made known rather quickly. One of the manifestations that was seen was a white cat on a kitchen counter that turned into a puff of 'smoke' and dissipated when it jumped off and hit the floor.Greyfeather wrote:Jeez, I have to share this cause I'm still shaking:
As far as omens....I just had to go look on my FB page to see what day I posted this. It was one of the most ominous things I think I've ever seen. I've never seen anything in the sky that creeped me out like this.
March 18 ·
A crescent moon with two stars right above it in the south. It looks beautiful and somehow ominous. I might be seeing omens in a lot of stuff here just recently.

Your reply is intriguing. The mysterious white cat I understand. But I'm drawing a blank about March 18 and the ominous astrology. I would love some more details. Is this a pattern of some kind?

The moon and 2 stars just looked very ominous to me. Three days later I got laid off and wasn't expecting it, I thought my department would stay open. Plus things were just ramping up. People used to think that comets were omens of bad things about to happen. Actually, come to think of it, comet Hale-Bopp was an omen for me.

Last month I read that an asteroid was supposed to "miss" Earth by 4 million/400 million miles(?) on April 29th but I haven't heard anything about it. I don't spend much time looking up at the sky. When I was growing up on a farm it was sort if like a theatre every night (hard to see in town). I think there is something to astrology and I confess that I'm a "fatalist," I believe there is some plan though I don't know who is in charge. I can't find any other way to explain how thoroughly I fucked up my life without some kind of assistance.herbalhippie wrote:The moon and 2 stars just looked very ominous to me. Sorry, I got off on a tangent. I'm sorry you were laid off. I believe that you are going to be ok. I was so hoping that some things would happen so as to bring about some badly needed change in this country, this world. I didn't expect this at all.

Re: Coronavirus discussion
Hello friends on the longest thread ever on MM! I have been MIA of recent due to a flare-up with my depression, anxiety, pain issues. I appreciate the challenges of others and only shared that to help explain why I haven’t been sharing the atrocities of government locally. No comment on the big picture. The smiles being covered in public has been difficult to get used to. Everyone looks THE SAME unless they are fighting in line about interpretations of 6 feet, while ignoring signs that say, “STAND HERE and HERE and people who think they are simply not required to follow these instructions because they only have a few things...
And the online fights about censorship n stuff. Where the hello have they been? Censorship has been alive and well in the kratom industry for YEARS now, right? People are JUST NOW noticing the agendas they had no problem with while working at their seashell store, or whatever.
So many other people thinking the parks and beaches have ALL BEEN CLOSED so THEY can have peaceful enjoyment of those places.
It sure has been interesting to see how much infighting has continued. However anger is a result of fear. The whole world will have serious PTSD and the whole world will DENY any trauma occurred and deny the trauma associated with all of this with EVERY PERSON ALIVE ON THE GLOBE and approximately 100,000 no longer living, have experienced.
Y’all are sounding better as the deposits are coming to fruition? I hope so! I have gotten a bump on my food stamp card, but no stimulus check. I hadn’t earned enough to be able to file taxes. The IRS created a “non filers” form and I got that submitted right away. I stumbled upon it online and I do thank the IRS and the folks at Intuit for throwing that together. Apparently we will be the last to see a stimulus check, if we do. There is zero resources for status on that, so I’m just trying to stay out of arguments and get proper rest and exercise. Should be easy but for the depression/anxiety/pain coming out of “remission”.
I stocked up on some interesting botanicals besides kratom that many friends find extremely helpful. There’s another post about that, so I’m signing off with a hug for everyone and looking forward to brighter posts from many friends here who are able to avoid the virus so far.
I’m not sure who to believe on the reports these days. But I do tend to agree with some of those guys on tv that say it will dull down over the warmer months and then we might be doing all of this again over Thanksgiving. At least families are already stuck getting together during the holidays. Maybe steal grandma from the nursing home before buying the turkey....
Thanks for the stories here and opinions (elsewhere on the site). The feedback on the new line of products will be submitted to Rob later this week. He’s got some “clean room” stuff to work on for cGMP compliance coming soon (stay tuned) and a shipment coming in. First. We will consider DoubleMHerbals as a “no” and proceed to see if it’s as helpful with other kratom populace’s. It’s a grand thing to have so many people providing good service and products, and everyone is supportive of others overall. Differing opinions on product is nothing new. Thanks for the sincere feedback, y’all.
Be well and safe ,
Laurie

Hey Laurie, I hope you're feeling better.
Yeah, it's strange times. I find myself falling into anxiety occasionally and just sew and sew or bake. I need to do more sewing and less baking because it's REALLY SHOWING these days.
My fuse has gotten a lot shorter too. It gets interesting sometimes.

Hi herbalhippie!
Thanks so much! I cannot fit my wardrobe any longer, so I’m definitely running on a short fuse, too! LMAO
Running meaning walking every day - no matter what. I’ve quit drowning my sorrows in watermelon and ice cream and it helps a lot to EAT PROPERLY instead. Kratom is not wasted any longer by avoiding constant sugar ingesting. I’m in recovery and my tendency is always MORE MORE MORE of nicotine, cookies, whatever. Not MORE walking, lol! I’m not sure why I’m able to use kratom without abusing it, but I’m grateful I can!
Last I recall, you’re doing a pretty nice service selling your masks? How is that going? Thanks for the kind reply! I do appreciate getting to know HOW PEOPLE ARE DOING in this thread! It’s such a cool reference for the future generations to ignore history and do it again (sarcasm)!
It’s a better day and I got some extra smiles by reading your post!

Re: Coronavirus discussion
I've only sold six of them, I'm not really trying now that unemployment came through. I have a possibility of another sale with a friend at another forum. Mostly I'm doing it for the calming effect of sewing.
I have 14 made up and the material for another 24 I think. I went back to the fabric store today after realizing when I got home yesterday from there that their stock was getting alarmingly low. Got 3 more yards of batik and a plain(ish) color for the backs.
Store lady said they are getting shipments but it's very hit and miss what they are getting and not much of anything. They were supposed to get elastic last week and it hasn't shown up yet. I'm making tie-behind-the-head masks, not elastic-over-the-ears masks. I suspect most of the elastic is going into the packs that are being made up for people to sew masks for hospitals and clinics.

Hey HH... I am interested in buying a couple masks for me and my mother. I can not find them at any store. We have both been using just the basic cheapest mask her company handed out but it has opening under and over and it does not fit well so while it is better than nothing it surely isn't the ones best suited for protection. Plus my mother has trouble breathing normal wearing it, I think it is just a cheap fabric causing that problem.herbalhippie wrote:I've only sold six of them, I'm not really trying now that unemployment came through. So if you were selling any more masks I'll be a buyer
Congrats on getting your unemployment benefits also! I got mine last week! Things are so much less stressful now! I've been going to ATM and taking half of the benefits on the card out and turning it into cash as I do not trust the system and worry one day the money will just disappear off the card. So half goes to cash and the other half I pay bills with. Glad we both got our cases resolved. Now I'm just hoping my state doesn't up too soon as cases are increasing here

Ok, watch this video, it's the second one she made after the first video how to make these. This one is answering questions she got about the masks and what to use for filters (I'm using blue shop towels folded in quarters but paper towels or napkins could work too). These masks have to be used with some kind of filter tucked in. She demonstrates how to put the mask on and how it fits at about 4:20, people were having issues getting it to fit right. You can see if it might be something you're interested in then.

WOW COOL! Your masks are much more extensive than the ones I got from my Mom’s younger step sister. That sister has moved on from masks, so I mooched 2 more before she fully quit sewing. One for mom, one for me. I had to cut the backs out so we can breathe while wearing them. Mom likes the tied head type, I’m elastic ears type. Mom is such a rebel against authority - she’s like the last person on earth that wears NO seatbelt because of the disregard of authority is fun for her. She kicks as$ driving around here! Takes me twice as long to get to places! LOL. These 76 year olds are hard to tame! So of course she forgets her mask, forgets the 6 ft distance, and forgets her phone ! Not related to memory problems!
Which one here was working at the Cheese Factory? I’m interested in whether that job has been refined for curbside pickup or anything...
I’m so relieved to know you guys got your unemployment checks. I’m still waiting on stimulus money. I also have bill money in bank only. And kratom money. I buy it at different places. Even tho I still have some from 2016 BanMania. I like shiny new bags ....
LOL
Good reports with lighter load s due to bills getting paid. So glad! How are the factory workers coping?!
Night!

Thanks again HH for the support! That was just dam nice to hear (read). Life is harder for everyone now, and I already know that people have MUCH MORE going on than what appears in public. Now without being in public, I’m reminded to respect how HARD life is for most everyone. No matter what I see or read.
Thank you for saying a simple, “I hope you’re feeling better”. That really meant a lot <hug>
