green buntok
Never heard of this. Is this just another name of a normal green? Marketing?

Re: green buntok
I googled "buntok" and it's a region in Indonesia, so it looks like the strain is named after the region where it's grown. That's a pretty common naming convention, so that would be my best guess lol. Which vendor is it?

I just a while ago saw someone mention on RVA's MeWe chat that it's a mid-spectrum green.

It's probably from Buntok Kota, Central Kalimantan province.
- another tool in rotation.
Was described as fast from one retailer I found by searching it. But yea, I'd guess it's in moderate range.

Re: green buntok
I'm catching up with y'all fast! The other day someone asked me if I am "treading water" or "losing ground" on my kratom purchases in terms of use vs. acquisition; I replied that I am definitely -gaining- ground.
We're not diving into savings or anything, but I am definitely buying all I can afford and not resting on what I have. Right now that's more about having as many strains as possible to rotate through daily and keep tolerance low, but it's also about that cloud in the sky that's been over kratom for a while now. So either way, "enthusiastic purchasing" is my current operating strategy.

I worry that I could be the proud owner of weak kratom but I'm not gonna open all the sealed bags to find out. I would like to keep all bags sealed until needed. I've been lucky with good kratom so far.

Re: green buntok
yeah, even a "dud" strain will be appreciated when you have nothing at all. I still having some leaf" remaining from my 2016 doomsday stash and if I skip a day or two and I'm feeling the usual mild withdrawal symptom the weaker strains have turned out to be effective for neutralizing the aches and keeping the taper going.
Anyone know what's RVA's best strains are right now and if they think they're worth the cheaper per key cost? Thanks!

I have been really happy with the Royal Bent (as a blend ingredient) and Red Ketapang, and the White Borneo, Hulu, and Ketapang. The Green Hulu is very respectable but it's not fire, if fire is what you're looking for. These are all about a month old; let me know if you want batch numbers and I'll go get the bags out.

I like the white MD and the white borneo alot...do they compare with the w hulu or w keta? I recently got both on a whim (all June batches) and haven't seen any recent reviews. Glad you like them though!whiffypants wrote:I have been really happy with the Royal Bent (as a blend ingredient) and Red Ketapang, and the White Borneo, Hulu, and Ketapang. Thanks Whiffy! Yeah I always blend his bent even at bedtime. I wish he did reasonable samples. More than any other vendor ive had trouble figuring out what to order with him. Sometimes I think its better to pay a bit more per kilo if im more confident that the strains suits me. Other times I think Im just being a silly american thinking the expensive leaf is better cause it cost more. Its so hard without sample packs when batches change. I had a varied experience with the sames strains bought in different season from RVA. Sounds like he has some good whites now and thats probably the way to go. Im feeling its time to start another doomsday

Re: green buntok
RVA is my go to at this point!! I have ordered like 3 or 4 different 4 way split from him in the last 2 to 3 months and just about everything I have gotten has hit dead on for me minus the 1 or 2 mediocre strains for my body chemistry I guess. To put things in perspective.... I have only ever ordered one white from RVA and that White Bali due to hearing how different of a white it was. And low and behold, it def Rand true for me as a very euphoric, slow, warm white I love it!! But, my favorites are red ketapang, red Borneo, royal bent, red hulu, green Hulu, super green 2, green Vietnam, green aceh and probably even close to that order lol. As you can see I like moderate speed to sloooowww speed haha!! I have chronic joint pain including arthritus in hands knees and neck and I'm an almost 33 year old mechanic, so I needed stuff to get me thru work and help to relax especially with having horrible insomnia at night. Finding this stuff was one of best things that ever happened to me besides getting together with my fiance. I have totally gotten away from all prescription meds except 1 for my chronic migraines which is amazing. RVA doesn't do smaller samples due to fact they are extremely small operation as well as already so extremely cheap that if you just read their reviews you can pretty much do h bet they are worth it for the money at very least!!! BUT let me tell ya they are more than worth it for the money, like I said, they are my goto and really only happened since herbal-salvation stock had dwindled for awhile even before went OOS so I had to go elsewhere..... And so glad I did. Now, I save money and get a larger variety of same quality and or better product!!! Can't say enough, check em out!

Re: green buntok
I don't have the white MD so I can't say, but I have the yellow MD and like it -a lot-, especially in blends with a green. For me, the White Borneo is the slowest of the three you mentioned -- Borneo, Hulu, Ketapang -- but very steady and a really good white to try on its own, and it seems to have good legs on it for a white, about 5-6 hours or so. The White Hulu and White Ketapang I use mostly in blends, mainly because they're a little too fast for me personally, but every once in a while I'll do it just because I'm in the mood. Not so much the Hulu, but the White Ket taken as a single strain tends to leave me clenching my teeth for a while. Yet added in a 1:1 mix with any energetic green they are my favorite daytime dose, bar none, and the comedown is gentle whether taken alone or in a blend. And they have good legs too: I'd say both the Hulu and Ket are good for 4-5 hours. If I ate something a half hour after dosing I could get even longer legs out of all three, but I generally don't eat before noon, so all of this is a description of effects experienced while completely fasted.beathappening wrote:I like the white MD and the white borneo alot...do they compare with the w hulu or w keta? If you do well with fast whites, either on their own or in blends, all three are excellent getting-shit-done strains.
Keeping in mind that you're speaking with someone who is so frugally tight with cash that if I ate a piece of coal I'd probably shit a diamond, I gotta be honest: when it comes to RVA I have literally just bought blind, minimum 250g sizes, because I had done my reading and was fairly confident I'd like what I got -- and if I didn't it would be easily traded. I bought a half kilo of Royal Bent just on reviews, because I had reason to believe it would work for me, and it did, -exceptionally- well. So far I've lucked out! But if I ever don't, I'll either blend up the weaker stuff, trade it off, or set it aside for Doomsday, heh. But so far I haven't had to do any of that.swablero wrote:Thanks Whiffy! One of the reasons I've done this blind ordering is because lately kratom business has been so brisk that by the time I got a sample, tried it, liked it, and decided to order more it would be gone. So I order samples not to try a strain for future purchase but to increase my selection of strains, and to have little bits of this and that to break things up in my daily doses. My MAIN focus remains on finding the most dependably good strains that a particular vendor has -- as opposed to the "fire" and really popular strains -- and I do that by reading as many reviews as I can. Like White Borneo: that's a consistent RVA standard, never heard a bad word about it, but you don't hear it praised from the rooftops either: it's just a really good, dependable strain. That's exactly what I want. I also make particular note of it when people mention a strain is not so good by itself, but is an excellent potentiator (like RVA Royal Bent, or Mystic Island Mermaid): you get enough "potentiator"/blend only strains and with those you can make use of -any- strain in your stash.
Listen to BallzDeep9 when he talks about this, because he's right: most of our favorite vendors have GOOD leaf, so that's what I look for: the best of the good, for every day use, and as many different kinds as I can afford between split kilos and samples so I have plenty of strains and vendors to mix things up with and rotate through. I'm in it for the long haul.
Maybe this information will help you too. Good luck!

Re: green buntok
So great to be able to read all these perfect reviews. And success stories. I have been fortunate myself in dealing with bulk buying. I have had one time I bought 50 kilos and it was so brown looked like dirt, couldn't do nothing with it but put it in the basement of the warehouse. Haven't been down there since. On the other hand I've lost money to fake vendors just trying to get a few hundred dollars out of me. Either they will send a key when I was supposed to get 10+ kilos. Or they just outright self-destruct there entire "existence" as I knew it.
When/if doomsday is near I think I'm prepared. Even if I sale out of the good supply I'll always have the bunk stuff in the basement

- and I'll let yas know how she flies in a bit after the coffee cacao treatment (my secret garden secret).
(you won't know what your missing- provided you don't try it. Just forget I mentioned it.)
I'm posting a review of the July 1 Red Jong Kong too if anyone's interested. Based on 1st try only, thus far.
