Which Plantation Red did you order? I've got two of the three, Plantation Red Thai and Plantation Red MD. I'm not sure what the difference is between them but Plantation Red Thai is the best strain I've ever tried for sleep. Plantation Red MD is faster but still very relaxing and with a nice mood enhancement. Plantation Red Thai, though? I just conk right out within 10 to 15 minutes and sleep for a good 4 hours, which is a long time for me.swablero wrote:The KOG coffee sounds intriguing; wish i would have got a little of that. Along with the new Elite Elephant which i heard so much about, though I dont know what to expect. The OG White MD as well. Ive loved the W Malawi and the White Aur but I though I'd give this one a try. These are smooth energy balanced positive whites. And rounding out split with the Plantation Red, recommended by Madison in my quest for that classic green-red Bali buzz. With the sam end in mind I'm also look forward to trying the KOG Premium Red MD and Red Elephant which Harry has on order and I believe a couple weeks away.

Thanks Quercus, I'll make a note of the Plantation Red Thai.Glad that is helping you. Is that one fermented? Its like doing crossword puzzle figuring out all these strains and what they are good for, lol. Yeah I was looking for something with moderate energy and good mood boost/relaxation to buffer against anxiety so I got the Plantation RMD. I've been very impressed with KOG leaf (but of course we're all different.) It funny this is supposed to be the off season.Quercus wrote:Which Plantation Red did you order? According to their website, none of the Plantation Reds are fermented. whats considered “on season”? Like what’s the best time of year to buy kratom?Quercus wrote:

Supposedly, typically late summer early fall. But the problem.is there is no real way to tell for sure when the leaf was actually harvested in all reality....trigger wrote:whats considered “on season”? Like what’s the best time of year to buy kratom?Quercus wrote:

Dark Coffee is a type of brown kratom. Before people started fermenting red kratom and made bentuangie (which is only about 5 years ago), to get a very dark color, they used oven drying or long term direct sunlight. The brown uses oven drying which is why is smells toasted. There is no adulteration in any of my kratom. The positive thing about the oven dried brown (dark coffee) is that there is much lower coliforms that with a typical red or bent due to bypassing fermentation. But it smells and tastes STRONG and that is not for everyone. But there is nothing in it but kratom. Its pure like all the strains I carry. Just like putting anything in the toaster, it will make it brown. Same concept here.
The only difference between seasons is that in the summer the colors are brighter. Those super bright greens are usually during dry season. The potency is similar year round, just the appearance is effected by the season. As long as you are waiting to harvest a few days after rain, the strength will be there but the leaf wont be as vibrant green, or red. So when you see these super bright greens, theyre just picked at a time when the plant is thriving and is dried very quickly so it doesnt fade in color. By doing this, you see those clumps and more moisture that a typical dried kratom because it was grinded at like 90% dried, then finished off drying as a powder so it retains the color. Thats the supergreen method.
Good batches will come year round. The super bright green will be available to almost everyone during the hot season.

Very interesting and informative! Thanks for taking the time to type that out. I have some old Green-OV (VLNT?) from 7ohmlabs that I was told was oven-dried, but it isn't brown, it's a muted green. Doesn't taste unusual either. Now I wonder if it was really oven-dried or not lol.K-OG wrote:Dark Coffee is a type of brown kratom. I've always been a little skeptical about rain affecting alk production in the trees. It's easy to see how rainy season could affect the drying process, but the plants themselves--it seems to me that they would go right along producing everything they normally produce regardless of how rainy it is or isn't... Anyway, thanks again for the informative post.

Re: Kratom OGs N3VV strains:P
I must admit I completely bought into the seasonality myth and would go easy in the winter fearing weak "rainy season" leaf. This conclusion seemed to be borne out by my experience when my dud:quality strain ratio seemed to have gone up significantly. Strains I had bought in the summer from the same vendors just weren't as strong. Of course this could be due to a lot of factors. This last was the first winter over the last few years that I acquired any Kratom and I must admit it seems as good an any summer leaf I've ever had.

Yeah..Its a rain forest climate so its hot and sunny year round. Al long as the leaf isnt feeding off the rain and is putting its energy into photosynthesis, it will be just as strong as the hot season. Just not as pretty. The supergreen I just got is a bright green color and as strong as the supergreen & jk from 5 months ago. If not stronger. Every batch I order is done to order as the amount I usually order, people do not keep in stock. Just for visualization, a filled soccer field of leaf is about 100 kg.
If you look up brown or oven tried kratom, its just that, brown. The dark coffee was originally golden brown and not as dark as it is now. The difference is he does a very fast dry like supergreen and then oven dries. This results in very dark color. Just like a bentuangie thats clumpy and slightly moist. Its been fermented before full drying. Most people are using the supergreen method as its very potent and looks pretty and takes less time to prep. However, I still have the long indoor dried kratom, like aceh or the premium mds/elephant... I just try to cover all different alkaloid profiles and of course some will not be what you or I personally like. But the dark coffe I know is a favorite of some, but I personally dont like reds and the taste. If youre not sure if its for you, request a sample when you order.
Thanks all

Received my second order from KOG in a month yesterday. This morning I went ahead and took a 4 way blend because I couldn’t decide. Red Aceh, super Green Aceh, elite elephant, and Malaysian Jambu. Haven’t eaten yet, but it’s already coming on very nice. Excited to try them each individually next week.
Edit: wow, this is an amazing analgesic! I just mixed up an ounce and a half of this for another day.

So we are able to request a specific sample when placing an order..? Because every time I ask to try something specific, I am instead sent another sample of a strain that I already have a large amount of. Is there a certain protocol for making sample requests that I'm just not aware of?K-OG wrote:If youre not sure if its for you, request a sample when you order.

When I was neurotically ordering more and more of the socal red bali I would always ask for some of the Cambodian but somehow I always got the G Zareena. I have 5 unopened samples of the zareena,
I just know I'm not going to care for that.
Dis you ever try the Red Malawi Payscience? Always curious about where that one fell as the green malawi was already like a red

I’ve never asked KOG for free samples, but I’ve received them a few times. Always something I haven’t ordered before. I don’t like asking for free stuff, and I especially wouldn’t ask for a specific free sample. If I wanted to try something, I would pay for it. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, eh?

Honestly trigger this is very wise and very true!
Im not gonna lie I have been a tad bit greedy with the samples. I used to never ask but now I do!
The last thing I want to do is complain tho
I hope KOG Never sees me as a crybaby or burden or unappreciative! I adore all that they do and yeah if I ask for a strain and they give me something else, well sh!t I’m glad I got a sample period!
If Im a frequent customer tho I feel like it may be a bit more in both the vendor and I’s comfort zone. You know where we both know each other it’s not necessarily a baad thing.
I suppose just dont make it a habit!

Trigger, I used to think like that and wouldnt ask a new vendor. But Harry actually offered as I think he knows you cant do small qtys with them and he sees the agony I go through trying to make a selection. Socal was putting samples in my order anyway so I figured I would ask, not that I got what I wanted. I think the vendors kind of expect it these days i.e. Mr Smiley ans Liza. I understand that some vendors like RVA don't do samples and that's cool. But it actually does help future ordering quite a bit. Harry threw a sample of the White Aur unsolicited and that became one of my favorite whites.trigger wrote:I’ve never asked KOG for free samples, but I’ve received them a few times. We're on the same page a far as strains go Payshince. And it was a tossup between the Ultra MD and the Elite Elephant in my last order and I decided to go with the Elephant this time round. I hear the Ultra is excelent! And in my never eniding search for the perfect green red I'm waiting on the Premium Red MD an Primium Red Elephant which are both out of stock right now but expected pretty soon. I can never bring myself to buy 100g for $19 so its very dangerousPayshince wrote:

I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, I was just trying to figure out if there's some special way to make the request, since Harry mentioned to somebody else that their sample request would be honored. I look forward to the samples, sometimes even more than I look forward to receiving my actual order. Mainly because my orders usually consist of me stocking up on strains that I've already tried. So it's kind of a bummer when I get my 20th sample of og green md, or green aceh. Anyway, I thought the point of samples was for us to try something new and, hopefully, end up buying more?Payshince wrote:Good question Kaiden!

Swablero - How was that Plantation Red (Thai, I assume?) you mentioned last week? I’m trying to put together a split, but it’s damn difficult! I know I want to get the Green Melawi, Red Dragon and Elite Elephant, but I just can’t decide on that last one. Was thinking about a White (maybe the Aur), but I’ve been wanting to try the Red Tenaga forever. And then I read - Madison was recommending the Plantation Red to you. And also there’s the Yellow Vietnam that was getting great reviews. Any suggestions to tip the scale would be appreciated.

Hey Jabro. I think your choices are really good. I'm not sure how much I can hepl you as I\m very unsure of my opinions and I'm not very good with reviews. The same strains hit me differently evey time I take them and I don't trust my subjectivity, but I'll give you my impressions.jabro70 wrote:Swablero - How was that Plantation Red (Thai, I assume?) you mentioned last week? Madison actually recommended the P R MD when I told her about my quest for a green-red. I haven't dug into that yet but I'll queue it up for my next dose later today and get back to you. I believe I have the Thai in a sample as well if I can find it. I did an inventory last night and I was kind of shocked at how much I had, opened and unopened. Not even counting my doomsday stash in the basement. I have 6 unopened split kilos from RVA going back a few years that I forgot all about. That should be fun
KOG has so much quality inventory its hard. And I feel if you got 10 customers to give recommendations you'd get 10 different favorites. They have a lot of really nice greens. I like the Bota. I do really enjoy the g & w Malawi and Aur. I'm not a yellow person. I have sworn off them
I'm sorry if this wasnt much help.

I like the Plantation Red, also recommended to me. I'm also glad I ordered a quarter k of the MD Ultra, probably the max allowedjabro70 wrote:Swablero - How was that Plantation Red (Thai, I assume?) you mentioned last week? I’m trying to put together a split, but it’s damn difficult! I know I want to get the Green Melawi, Red Dragon and Elite Elephant, but I just can’t decide on that last one. Was thinking about a White (maybe the Aur), but I’ve been wanting to try the Red Tenaga forever. And then I read - Madison was recommending the Plantation Red to you. And also there’s the Yellow Vietnam that was getting great reviews. Any suggestions to tip the scale would be appreciated.

Had Elite Elephant this morning by itself. It's a nice energetic, clear-headed, mood-lifting experience. Mild pain relief and euphoria.

Cool Trigger I have the Elite Elephant in the queue!trigger wrote:Had Elite Elephant this morning by itself. It's a nice energetic, clear-headed, mood-lifting experience. Mild pain relief and euphoria.
Javagurl. If I had to fat finger one strain it would be the G Malawi.
Jabro Yeah I opened my bag of Plantation Red and its relaxing. Baliesque. Neutral energy to slightly sedating over time. Hopefully there is no unconscious bias here. But I like it. Another good KOG strain.

Yes you can always request your sample. All orders get a free sample. Larger the order, larger the sample. A typical sample is 18-28g.Kaidensmom wrote:So we are able to request a specific sample when placing an order..? Because every time I ask to try something specific, I am instead sent another sample of a strain that I already have a large amount of. Is there a certain protocol for making sample requests that I'm just not aware of?K-OG wrote:If youre not sure if its for you, request a sample when you order.
Thanks all
What I typically do is print out labels of a green, white, and a red strain I have good stock of and just match the primary color of the order. Right now Og GMD , green hulu, red empangau and OG wmd are being sent out as samples as I have the labels preprinted as "free samples" . when the 30 labels per page is used up, I change it up.
All orders always get a free sample so if you would like to try something, just request a sample when speaking to Madison.
Thanks all

FYI: the Melawi are potent af. I took a 50/50 blend of white and green Melawi this morning and it’s quite relaxing and euphoric. Very strong. I’m not getting much pain relief yet for my back, but otherwise feeling good. Kinda feels like an energetic red.
Yesterday morning, I had a blend of white and green mountain, and it felt rather mild. There was a brief period where it felt pretty good, but it was short lived.

Spoke too soon... pain relief kicked in. Pretty good overall. Would burn again
