Golden Monk vs Happy Hippo

Hi, I've been forum member for quite sometime , but I'm really shy (even through a computer screen). but I am in a bit if a pickle. Anyway, I've been a loyal customer to Benni's, Liza's, MitraMan, and SmileyTime occasionally sampling other companies. I love Happy Hippo. I live on a fixed income, so when I have a little extra money, I splurge on them. IMO, they're strains are the most potent of any other company (without enhancement) but a friend of mine says they order Golden Monk because of potency and the price point is incredible for the quality. I haven't tried them yet. If you were me and could splurge a little, who would you pick on potency AND quality alone? I can't seem to choose to get Happy and then sample Golden or just go with golden and get a few samples of my favs from happy.

I haven't had Golden Monk but have heard negative talk from anyone who has mentioned them.

Hippo is ok from my experience, but mark up the price a lot. With changes in kratom related laws, I think their quality has diminished, just hearsay.

Happy hippo is good quality but they overcharge. Plenty of smaller batch vendors with the same or better quality imo, many of them right here on this forum.

Bingo. These TWO would BOTH deserve a spot on "Worst Vendors" List...

It's 2026 - having 300 "vendors" ALL selling the same Green Dirt, Bulk container loads from Pontianak Indonesia... is ridiculous ! But also, SAD when it comes to Chronic Pain, and the reason many ppl use Kratom in the first place... "Potency" ?? Please, please, at least TRY - the new Kratom 7OH products - just a Half tablet - along WITH your regular Kratom serving.

Half agree with Ballz, get quality kratom, but imo 7oh will short circuit your tolerance and take you higher than you wanna go with high addiction potential. IMO.

Yeah, I'm not touching 7oh. Just regular kratom powder is fine for me. With proper tolerance breaks and small doses, it has worked to control my pain for many years.

I started kratom with happy hippo. But now I think, years down the line, of how ridiculously overpriced and over hyped it is. I’ve gone through several companies over the year, my current fav is Herba Releaf. The product selection might not SEEM as broad as other places but that’s because they’re actually honest and conscientious about what they sell. It’s potent, safe, and helps to learn they actually give a shxt about their customers too. I think for the quality, they’re actually very affordable. I know you didn’t ask about them but this would just be my two cents. It’s always good to try other companies for sure. You never know what you’re missing.

You should ask for recommendations besides the two, as the overwhelming response has been neither. I might have gone softer on Happy Hippo if I hadn't been financially screwed by their Black Friday sale: the leaf never showed. HH farmed me off to their $1 insurance company, and they wouldn't just send me the order without an additional charge for shipping and insurance, but of course they couldn't charge me, and it was unlikely HH could. The only option was going back and forth, some ghosting, and finally a refund over a month later. What stunk was that my spouse got it for me for Christmas, and instead of resolving the issue quickly like every kratom vendor I've known, they farmed her off to a disembodied insurance company. It felt like 'corporate kratom' if there is such a thing, and although I had been wooed by a few of their new reds and their sales, they screwed not me, honestly, but my partner who was just trying to do a nice thing. She can't work because of cancer and does not yet have disability, so that money was the very little of what she had and only at the end of December was she refunded for the Black Friday no-show. It just felt less like I was a customer, she was a customer, but just disembodied sources of revenue. I like to build a relationship with my vendors and if I don't know their first name, something is off. Too big to fail? I don't know. What I do know after 12 years as a kratomite is that you can do better. Better kratom for half the price--what is not to love?

yep - All GONE - the "Reddit Alternative" website = SAIDIT.net (from Reddit - to "Said IT" lol) - IS no more. It was always a "Project" and I guess the guy fell on hard times/ could not justify keeping it going... Finances maybe

Hello Mike - Not "business" like his old Kratom website... some will remember... No, only the sub-Reddit which he started 9 years ago... He's got me pretty much running the place now... And tbh I'm not sure how much longer (?) He didn't have time - I really don't have time - Too much going on and moderating a popular Reddit is = "baby sitting"
