Lungs were feeling crunchy, was it from T&W?

Post by IndelibleDotInk »

Been using kratom for several years via toss n wash, but lately my lungs have sounded 'crunchy.' So I am switching to drinking the leaf as an experiment.

I used a shaker bottle that has a mixing spring in it. In goes kratom, splash of cream, almond milk, scoop of cacao powder (pure chocolate powder) and on some days a spash of coffee or some stevia.

Works well, takes a lot less time than you'd think.

Anyone else who T&W have weird lung noises? When I T&W, I don't feel powder going into my lungs.. but may as well go for health.

Aloha guys.

I’ve never really thought about how toss and wash may be bad for the lungs, but it’s an interesting theory. I suppose if one inhaled too much dust, it’s definitely not great for you. I always put a bit of water in my mouth before tossing the powder in and always assumed this would shield my throat and lungs from a direct blast of kratom dust. Although I have accidentally inhaled it through my nose before when tossing a little quickly lol. That is definitely NOT a great feeling.

Put an inch of hot water in a cup, dump in kratom and whisk, enough cool water so you don't get burnt, toss it back.

I tried toss & wash exactly once.

i've never found the temperature of the water to make a difference, so i just use cool water, and mix in some monk fruit extract. Stir it - sometimes it needs a minute to fully dissolve, and it tastes just fine and works just fine. Some lemon juice helps also.

Do/did you regularly accidentally inhale kratom when you tossed and washed? If the crunchiness persists, maybe have an experienced professional listen to your chest. The t&w is such a part of my ritual that I'd miss it if I had to forego.

Just wanted to add my two cents. Wondering why more people dont just add their powder dose to room temp tap water and stir it up. (?) The whole t&w process seems a little crazy and messy. Tea is another thing, with hot water obviously, strained out or not. But my wife and i have been happily sippin our dose in about a pint of water for a few years now. At first, it was disgustingly bitter, but soon i was able to discern different flavors in strains and actually appreciate the green tea/matcha flavor of fresh, aromatic green powder...
Never tried it in almond milk, but might give that atry.

T&W is quick, easy, no residue or clean up, most portable. I fully understand how people who make tea or extract avert the gunk/sludge issue but I have no issue with it. As a matter of fact I sometimes take kratom to settle my stomach!

I am so pro T&W, but it appears to be causing the crunchy noises (T&W for years with no prob).

So today I put my grammage in a shaker cup, some heavy whipping cream, some valrhona cocoa powder, almond milk, and an egg (for the protein, am on keto).

Yes, this sounds strange, but after all the shaking, it tasted like... creamed spinach. Honest, like high quality creamed spinach (I just had some yesterday from Ruth's Chris).

It's also not that much of a pain to make, as I'm using my shaker bottle anyway, I can just throw it in with whatever concoction.

Yeah after years of doing T&W I am done with it mostly cuz it was really messing with my digestive system. I'm not sure about the crunchy lung feeling, but my lungs have definitely felt really bad if it goes down wrong. Like the day is ruined. I only mix it in hot water (205 degrees) now and it actually hits better and it's so much easier on my stomach. I don't strain out the powder either. I enjoy it way more and I've been able to lower my dose this way too. Plus with the hot water it's probably killing off a lot of the microbes. IMO T&w is probably one of the worst ways to take kratom

T&W twice, no crunchies. Lower doses of 2g, however, compared to 4+g.

Confirmed, mixing leaf with real cream will result in a taste like good creamed spinach. I don't know if I like drinking creamed spinach, but it's def not bad. I also drink coffee with cream, so sometimes I just put the leaf in there... I can't really endorse it, but it's def palatable.

When I was having my hospital stay for walking pneumonia, the docs confirmed any crunchy sounds or feelings were coming from the powder unless I was inhaling it, and even that might not have caused it.

So now I am left with what was that crunchiness? And it went away fairly quickly, right after my posts on it.

I'll try this method this week. Usually just t&w the powder 2g at the time, haven't had any go down the wrong pipe in ages. Then I sip on some water mixed with apple cider vinegar and lemon juice.

I just put a little water into a cup, scoop kratom in and stir slowly for 30 seconds - ish. At first seems like it will never mix, but it does mix well. Then I kinda take it like a shot of whiskey, where I have a chaser water or juice( not pop it'll fizz bad and sucks). I tried toss n wash once and almost threw up, and have been mixing it with water ever since. My wife mixes it with apple juice, but it seems to take a little longer to mix.
