How does everyone store their batches of kratom?

Curious and apologize if this topic has been covered. Where do you keep your kratom to keep it fresh? I've read that it needs to be stored away from sunlight, so I keep mine in a cabinet. Depending on the packaging, sometimes I will put the contents in a storage bag. Any ideas or suggestions?

While all of mine is made into capsules (stored in amber bottles) before I did this I just had a vacuum sealer and sealed up any excess. They are good to have around anyway, and fairly cheap. If I had a lot of bags I'd seal them because you can just cut the top off and reseal (thus not needing another bag).

Here's a link to a thread I remembered and there are more, I keep mine in the original bags, some in bigger clear zippered bags and then in storage boxes away from heat and humidity (as much as possible in South Florida). Running out of space for storage boxes though.

Thank you, for I am also a resident of South Florida, and humidity, heat and such are always a concern! I'm glad for all the info. So what we've been doing seems to be a majority of what others do. I keep it in a cupboard on a high shelf, in their original bag unless it's not a sealed bag, as some do, which I don't understand. Thank you all for your responses!

Probably not the best place but I’ve never noticed any degradation, so far. I’ve been thinking about switching over to glass jars but just seems like a hassle honestly. Plus I’ve dropped open bags and just clean up what’s lost and move on. Not likely with the jars

I currently have twenty open big bags I was doing the jar storage but then just became way too much plus not much counter top room for the jars. I burp the air from whatever bag I dose from. I have a big shopping hand cart I keep it all in but very quickly I am going to need to expand that. I have huge storage totes though that will for sure be put to use once I really start accumulating my "doomsday stash" of at least 20 kilos. Of the doomsday stash so far I have a little over a kilo of different sealed bags though. The plan is to get mainly splits of four 250s of all different, no two bags the same lol they say variety is the spice of life right??

I always open the bag, and pour most of it out into a small tupperware, which can hold about 250g. this way I don't have to repeatedly open and reseal the bag, and it's much easier to scoop out of a container.

I write an abbreviation of the strain name on the side and top of the container in dry erase, and store it in a cabinet in the kitchen. then I am able to stack them and easily refer to them. I have a cabinet full of them, probably over 20 containers in there right now, although I have second full cabinet of ones I'm not actively using.

I leave the unused portion in the bag it came in, get as much air out of it as I can, and seal it. leave it in a drawer or floor cabinet. when the container gets empty, refill it as needed.

I keep most of my open bags that I'm gonna use often in airtight/waterproof plastic storage bins and some of my older bags or stuff I have larger quantities I vacuum seal. Also a lot of my open bags I will put in another ziploc bag and in the bin. And of course squeeze all the air out. The bins I use have served me well and I really do think they help to keep it fresher longer. The brand I like is Ezy that I got from Target and I think they're actually a little better than the sterilite ones I have. Seems to have a better seal and the clamps are more durable. These are the ones I have in a couple different sizes...

I should also mention I do live in Houston and it's hot and humid af here and it seems my kratom can go stale pretty quickly if I just leave bags out for long. So my storage may or may not be excessive and maybe not necessary if you live in a drier climate. I think better safe than sorry though

I keep everything in their original bags I just make sure to get as much of the air out each time and keep in a dark cool area. They’re in 3 different containers.. one for the bunk, one for the good and then a small one for my daily rotations

Same as previous poster... I just try to squeeze most of the air out of the bag it came in and fold it down and put a chip clip on it.

I keep my leaf in the original bags making sure all the air is out. Some bags that I know I will never use for a long time, I place in a big bag that can be vacuum sealed. I started off with one drawer, then the whole dresser became a home for my kratom. Now I have multiple stackable drawers all full. Sadly there are kratom bags all over my room. Some people collect baseball cards etc. As for me, I collect kratom. I'm terrified of a ban in the future so it's very hard for me to part with any. In the beginning, it was easy to keep it organized however as time goes on it becomes a real issue. I wish I had the money to purchase a vacuum chamber to pull all the air out of my bags.

If you're a Prime member in another two weeks they will have all kinds of sales and should have them on these kinds of machines. But, again, not all that expensive and I use ours all the time (it's held up well for many years now - but nowadays it's mostly for kratom :>).

i'm getting nervous now, since i haven't paid much attention to the advice here.

I know i've run across information about kratom that has been left for long periods of time, and retained its potency....and i came to the conclusion that I'm fine (I'm in san francisco, and the climates aren't extreme here). I generally just leave stuff in the original bags, seal them manually as best I can, and if the bags to close 100% don't worry about it. But i haven't gotten to this stage of accumulating lots of good kratom for too long, so i haven't had any go bad on me.

I have tons and tons right now - is it really worth it to buy tons of biggggg bags and vacuum sealers, and go through everything to get it right? And there is sunlight, but there is also room light. Much of my stuff is in clear bags, and the bins are see through.

I'd hate to have enough for the rest of my life, and then open up a bag to celebrate my 150th birthday and have it not hit.

While I'm almost positive there haven't been any scientific studies, there's a lot of anecdotal evidence to show that even years old kratom seems just fine. But it does beg the question - how fine?

I mean, while there are dates on prescription medicines most of it lasts for many years afterwards. However, studies for it (and we're talking pill and capsule form, stored in tight bottles, which would be far LESS likely than powder kratom in a bag to lose their efficacy) show there is a definite drop off after a year or two - you can lose up to 30% of the effectiveness of whatever it is after that time. I can't imagine kratom being immune to that.

So - it just seems prudent to take whatever precautions we can for any kratom you don't intend to consume in a year or two. I know that's what I've done and I can't imagine being sorry I did it. For those folks not intending to put away their stash for, say, the late 20's then I doubt whether I'd worry about it much.

Good quality snap-seal bins. In the original bags. Each bin holds
about 4 kilos maybe and I have six of them currently.

of course, it makes sense to take precautions when we don't really know the facts. But i suppose when I weigh the fact that different substances will obviously degrade under different circumstances, and that sealing all of my many bags of kratom from the elements, including light, would be what seems to me to be a huge project, requiring constant maintenance, it comes down to faith. What do I really believe? I guess i believe that there isn't an issue.

given that taking all these precautions doesn't harm the kratom, it seems like a prudent thing to do if you want to take the time and effort. In the worst case scenario, i guess i'd just use the newer stuff that i bought, and not go back to the old strains. But i'd change my tune really quickly if there were more evidence that the stuff does degrade. Maybe it gets better, like wine.....

First thing I do is
Seperate / fill my "quick access" bags before stowing the surplus- where the long term storage / preservation measures come in. (If I did nothing else right in my lifetime... I got this)
I don't serve from / only refill or sample out from original pkgs / surplus.

Organize weigh station (desk): All I see inside draweres are all these 4x4 heavy guage zip bags labled on the edge and coded upper right corner like files in a cabinet. They are within reach for rapid blending (the ideal) if nothing came up missing.

MM..ify .. the Long Term Stowage / Create a space where everything lasts, nothing can live in it, nobody's seen it since it last saw the sun.
Surplus / orignal packs are deflated, closed tight, zip folded over, taped down- set aside until next day (often the air expands) - deflate again, re-bag (bag in sturdy zip bag) with a couple of food grade silica packs thrown in the outer bag, compressed, crammed into dedicated chest of drawers. - it's cool. - it's very dark. - separate from stuff the cat might knock my coffee onto. Multiple barriers. If material came from a pvt. group - the bags are clear plastic, double bagged. Bag that again and keep underneath an opaque brick-o-bags. Then your covered.

New & Improved upgrade!
Have transferred pre- 2020 into nutrient powder canisters last year, gradually transitioning everything.. lining the barrels in layers (in original packs- tricky!) until jam packed.
With 7 canisters in reach, tear open a 7ct. oxygen absorber pack and tape one under each lid. Necessary? Probably not. And it can only help so much bc these aren't expensive survival food buckets or canning jars. Difference being that beside special plastics, it's gas permeable so a little oxygen can seep in. (so can air contaminants) but it's better barrier-ing than even the best bag in bagging. In 9mos to a year the packs harden somewhat and stop heating up when the lid comes off (so you just change em like a light bulb- but 7 at a time or however many come per vacuum pack. If wondering, it's same technology as those "hot hands" emergency hand warmers (better than what the dog gives you) but they are Not interchangeable bc "hot hands" is enhanced with highly toxic material that can contaminate consumables. Now you know if you didn't.


Next upgrade will be BIIG glass Ball canning jars when I get around price gougers.

Oh, man, I just have a bunch of ripped open bags all over my kitchen counter, with spoons sticking up inside. I don't even seal them. I keep the oblates and my gram scale right beside them.
I'm sure this causes some degradation but not enough for me to perceive it. (I rarely ever have more than a half kilo total hanging around).
I used to store Kratom in opaque jars but I am a VERY lazy person with ADHD and when I used jars I was too lazy to switch strains every day and in between doses. This way, I just grab a different bag two to three times a day and the spoon's already in it.

I store all open bags double sealed. I use the original bag it comes in and then put that bag inside a freezer bag. Then everything just gets thrown in a drawer completely unorganized. I store unopened, sealed bags in a closet. One of these days I will neatly organize my collection (or so I keep telling myself).

Like a lot of people, i keep my product in the original bag and keep those in a cabinet in my kitchen. In my opinion, kraft paper bags and glass jars are the best storage vessels, as ziplock plastic bags tend to attract the powder to its sides, always leaving a residue.

Baby food jars or the like are excellent for small bag contents. If you pack it down by banging the jar repeatedly onto your work counter, you can fit a lot in there

Funny you mention baby food jars. I carry my work serving in a baby food jar.
