Shelf life

Remember a number of (6 or 7??) years ago there was a big scare of a national kratom ban? Well my spouse went a little crazy buying a lifetime end-of-the-world stash. There are boxes and boxes in every nook and cranny of our house. Anyone have knowledge of a long term storage timeline? Meaning how long this powdered leaf, in unopened bags, can last? Every now and again, we open some new stuff, and so far so good. Seriously, I think there's enough for our and our kid's lifetimes. But how long will it stay potent?

I have some from 16-17 and ita as good as it ever was. It loses a little bit of potency I'm sure, but generally, it's fine. It's a dried leaf, time kinda stands still on the day it's packed. Mostly. So, what do you have in your stash (I know. I'm asking the important questions. Haha!) During the ban scare, everyone sold our of their stock, and then the next batch everywhere was basically who knows what. So before, good. After, hit or miss at best.

"What do I have in the stash," you ask. Well, that's a question better asked of my spouse who was the frenzied buyer. And these boxes upon boxes have been where the sun don't shine for years. (No inventory taken) But I think you may have inspired him to do a little excavating. I'll have to get back to you when he does Just pulled some fused flora javanica this evening. It's like an endless Secret Santa. But seriously, can this lovely leaf last and last?

It should be fine as long as it's sealed and away from light, heat and moisture. Sounds like you're sitting on a gold mine!

Grain can last decades if stored properly, I would think Kratom can last quite some time under the right conditions. Sealed, away from light and moisture, it’s probably going to be fine after even a decade.
Although after a certain point I would personally only use such aged Kratom in tea - I like Kratom from 30 year old trees, but 30 years aged leaf from 30 year old trees is too much for me to T&W!

IIRC (and this old man may not) someone here, some senior member, did a test where they took already "old" kratom powder and left it outside, unsealed, in the sun for a few weeks and tried it to discover absolutely NO change in potency.

I remember reading something like that and thinking that even just stored inside folks ought to be fine with storing away a decade or more. But hell if I can find that thread.

I keep mine in ziplocs/plymores and those go in airtight bins.

However, I have a special small bin which is not airtight, i think, and it has all the small packets of samples. Some of the samples have dried out and are a bit sandy, but they are still potent.

Mine are all in capsules, and in air tight containers (jars, many of them druggist "brown" glass).

I would find it hard to believe they could lose much, if any, potency for many many years (and I'll be long gone by then :>).

I believe that nothing can degrade this fucking leaf. Period.

From messing around with fresh, green leaves to making a dose with pure lemon juice and forgetting about it for weeks. It hit just fine and tbh, it made me consider the possibility of Kombucha Kratom.

Evening all, I feel like this has probably been posted on this forum before in the past, but most newer peeps probably haven't seen it, seems to be pertinent as far as shelf life.

I am a Kombucha fanatic, I drink it daily. I almost always have a few sips after a dose of leaf. I really feel like the acidity & enzymes jump start the burn. I have brewed my own in the past, but most recently I waited too long to start my new batch and killed my Scoby....poor little fella. As far as store bought I go for Healthade & GTS. Best brands in my opinion. I used to like Kevita years ago, I'm pretty sure Pepsi bought them out. Now it's pasteurized!? So they kill the probiotics/enzymes/all the good stuff....then just add generic low grade probiotics back in. Complete trash, buyer beware!

They claim it's so great, but I think pasteurized products are stripped bare of all of the goodies. That's probably why they do it. Keeping you sick and dependent is the goal, seems like.

Some say unpasteurized milk is A cure for cancer and the reason they banned it. I, myself, have no clue, so don't take this as a validation because it's not, but just like viruses, they have convinced everyone microbes and bacteria are bad even though our body thrives on and even NEEDS microbes AND bacteria, but they lump them all together and call it bad. Typical move by them.

That's why people get sick after a course of antibiotics. Kills your defense.

I'll try Kombucha ya fanatic, sounds like the way yogurt works for me. I eat yogurt EVERY SINGLE DAY and love it. It's a great food if you want to take kratom but still want to eat. In the kratom sense, it's not food, but to your body it's like gold.

I'd just like even A FUCKING SHRED of medical truth rather than the profit-driven bullshit we are led to believe. Just a shred will do.
