Pest attacking kratom leaves always happened once in a year in Indonesia, especially in Hulu Kapuas district that we know it the biggest district that produce kratom, Kapuas hulu district covered some big plantations village like Jongkong, Kalis, Sibau, and other big village that produce kratom.
There's different situation happened with the pest raid in this year, it's the biggest one and the worst.

its start from January, where the pest attacking the leaves of kratom in this district. At the first month of this raid its not influences too much for kratom supply, this situations got bigger problem in March 2022 (ref: https://regional.kompas.com/read/2022/0 ... n?page=all) . Its destroying almost 70% of all kratom leaves and make kratom leaves beeing rare to get.

This situations not stop in March, its still goes on until May 2022 where its more worst, maybe more than 80% leaves got damaged by the pest. Many stakeholders in kratom business has prehibit farmers to use pesticides because of we affraid its will cause new Problem into importer countries especially United States. But farmers and farm owners gettin more worries for the trees and its gettin worst.

Several exporters and suppliers still have supplies kratom from farms and will grown trees that grow in another district but its not enough to fulfill their supplies. Some big suppliers has change their stocks supplies spot from West Borneo leaves to East Borneo and Middle Borneo province.

We still need to find a safety ways and effective ways to recover kratom leaves in Hulu Kapuas district. Several village has preparing natural pesticides to avoid this pest attack, Hope this bad situations end soon.

So sorry to hear about this - Farmers in West Kalimantan, Hulu Kapuas district (Putussibau on Map), have worked for years, to develop plantations - Where most kratom comes from now... The main city for processing Kratom is, Pontianak. Moving large amount, 100's of miles by truck or by Air cargo ? Will need to raise the price.

Samarinda on East Kalimantan, is Distance: 537.97 miles (865.79 km) from Pontianak "As the crow flies" but even farther by truck... Of course there is still much wild tree growth. I am sure the Big Kratom companies will invest $ money needed to transport.

Let us hope and pray, there will be assistance provided to any Farmers, who need help with pest control!! :|

It isn't for the taste, I don't think. Also proves Stoned Ape Theory to be correct.

Fhietra... is there a way for you to take a photo of the insects causing the damage? I did graduate study on insect control & may be able to advise what can be used to get rid of them that will not leave a toxic residue.

Neem oil, rosemary oil, Thyme oil works great on some pests in plants, but man i cant imagine how much liquid they need. I wonder if its like the spruce beetle / pine beetles the cost is like $50 a tree to cure so my entire forest around me in Colorado is dying.

I think a bunch of combined natural herbs , neem rosmary thyme, peppermint and there is a ton more. Maybe put it in the plane and spray affected areas? I also think and wonder if kratom is back again on stock market, if tons of this news spreads all over internet, someone making bank. someone need to see if anyone invested into this, i did click on the link and its only one dead tree visible and all other tree;s green in background. is it possible soneone trying to do another scare like it happens every year? what are the chances?

Its exactly what it sounds like. Look it up. This isn't actually proof of it by any means, I was more joking, because we have no idea what effect the leaves have on the bugs.

You need to loosen your tie a little and let your brain breathe. There is black and then there is white and THEN there are literally infinite shades in between.

Stoned Ape is accepted by many people, but can't be proven because, well...prehistory is just that. Before written history.

Many animals seek out the hooch, though. Probably all. Some more than others, no doubt.

I'm of the belief that one of the signs that you are conscious/intelligent as a being is your need to escape that consciousness/intelligence as much as possible.

I have faith in my animal counterparts acting very much like I do, and not much else.

did you mean I personally "should loosen my tie"? I don't really understand if that was meant as a personal attack, or if you meant "you" in a general sense.

there is a lot out there to debunk the theory that psilocybin had anything to do with the evolution of the human in those prehistoric times. you say it's accepted by many people, but that has no bearing on whether it's true or not. a lot of people believe in flat earth theory, the Qanon stuff, or that evolution didn't actually happen, and that the earth is 6,000 years old.
a lot of things that happened before humans became sentient can be proven, because they're based on scientific evidence. (just off the top of my head, look at the the entire field of geology, and how we use science to prove how old the earth is, and that plate tectonics are real.) stoned ape theory just isn't.

this is neither here or there in regards to this thread. I already know I'm not going to change your mind, I just don't think this particular conversation is served at all by the introduction of misinformation and ideas not based in fact.

I dont make personal attacks man..

Not in real life or.otherwise. Counterproductive. BUT it's clear everything is "misinformation" including Stoned Ape THEORY so have fun with that and I'll just.stop interacting with you, because why bother? You can't lump everything together and cast doubts on your cherry picked nonsense slices of the whole.

I'm not into any of the bullshit you've thrown me into, and have clearly illustrated that
When you find something (ANYTHING) that isn't "misinformation" to SOMEONE, let me know. Good sources don't exist and it's misguided to think they do, in America anyway. But, keep thinking you're on the right track. Newsflash : unless you SAW IT YOURSELF it is probably *misinformation* from WHEREVER.

Stoned Ape Theory is just for fun man. Who fucking cares if animals trip on mushrooms? They can get their own drugs. It is, however, a fucking FACT that reindeer seek out Fly Agaric mushrooms and that's how (or one theory that doesn't involve the occult) reindeer "flew." Disinfo or what? If it's a FACT that reindeer dig through snow to find them, though, why not other animals? You've never gone through any trouble to get hallucinogens? If so, two things are true. One : you and I have both gone through trouble to get mushrooms, so why not other animals? They too stupid or what? Two if you HAVE gone through trouble to get mushrooms, if you believe in evolution (Evol avatar and you also just seem like the type.) then how far removed is Stoned Ape? I don't give a shit if you think The Three Musketeers did 911 bud. Not my concern. I just made a two sentence joke that could have been left at that.

To quote myself before the "disinfo" :

This isn't actually proof of it by any means, I was more joking,

Hard to refute an admitted joke. Its why comedians can say basically whatever they want.

Here is online newspaper Pontianak Tribune - article should open in your browser AND translate to English.

Farmers in Kapuas Hulu Complain Of Thousands Of Hectares Of Kratom Plants Attacked By Pests

https://pontianak-tribunnews-com.transl ... r_hl=en-US

READ further down the page -- Article talks about, Price Wars -- The drop in kratom prices was also caused by unhealthy competition among kratom players, so that kratom prices continued to decline from month to month for the past two years. // Even the price in the United States has touched US $3 per kilogram, where in the past one kilogram could reach US$40 per kilogram.

PRICES THIS LOW -- means Low Quality. 😫 Kratom is NOW in a terrible place, thanks to "Big Kratom" Profiteers, on BOTH sides !!

when prices drop and as is quality, i think people who have classic stash will enjoy going over it. It sucks but i think thats why its a good idea to get some here and there if you know it will be quality. Not wait last minute and later complain that kratom in general sucks. I really hope better control for kratom from each farmer, to use proper procedures to have it clean on a plate for us to consume.

Ballz maybe they are talking about vendor prices. That seems about right. Pay 40 a kilo, charge 80-90, shipping is in there and RISK money (which also could be counted as "lost" money, past shipping issues gone terribly wrong) and so on. We all know this shit is risky.

When it goes smoothly, that's a great thing, but how OFTEN does it go smoothly? How many lost nights of vendor sleep worrying about their many thousands of dollars stuck in limbo somewhere or being held by customs, money they DON'T HAVE. They gotta make SOMETHING!! Lots headaches and ulcers I'm sure.

Wait! Wasn't this thread about mushrooms or something? 🤣😆😆🤣

Fietra...

Thanks for the video link. The video quality was so bad I could hardly see anything. Some of the leaves were curled up with a larva inside, another video showed holes chewed in leaves. Those represent 2 different kinds of insects. The leaves that were rolled up is evidence of a leaf roller - good name, huh? Here in California there's a widespread outbreak of a close relative called leaf miners. Fortunately this kind of destructive pest can be easily controlled by a biological control, a bacteria called Bacillus thuringensis. It's a common & extremely safe pest killer. It's a disease of caterpillars & doesn't hurt wildlife, humans, nor bees. The powder is mixed with water & sprayed on the foliage. It will kill all caterpillars that eat the sprayed foliage.

Fietra... the product comes with a variety of different brand names. If you can't find Bacillus thuringensis, the most common brand name here in America is Thuricide.
