Doctor prescribed me Wellbutrin.

For seasonal depression the doctor prescribed me Wellbutrin. I like to take kratom once a week for recreation. Are the two dangerous to take together ? I have yet to fill my prescription.
So far from what I read through Internet search is confusing. And I never had trouble with seizures but I do like to drink.

I'm not sure there is a definitive answer to your question since as far as I know, the necessary research hasn't been done. FWIW, I've been taking kratom and Wellbutrin together for two years now and as far as I know, I've not experienced any adverse effects. My labs are actually better than they used to be because I've started working out since taking kratom.
I think the greater concern would be mixing alcohol and Wellbutrin since the medication inserts warn not to drink while taking it. I've never checked that out, though because alcohol gives me migraines so I stay away from the stuff.
I'm sorry - wish I could be more help!

The best advice would be to ask your doctor. As far as I know, I don't see it being a dangerous combo as they are substances that aren't in the same family.
It's not like your combining Kratom with another opiate or benzo, which could potentially be dangerous.
Personally I'm not a fan of any SSRI or SNRI, as I've taken Zoloft and Wellbutrin in the past, both made me feel like a zombie with no feelings, but whatever works best for you.
If you get a good strain, the Kratom can be enough to help with depression.

This is very true. Since taking kratom, I've been able to lower my Wellbutrin and Lexapro doses by 1/3. If I weren't so scared of the godawful withdrawals, I'd try quitting them altogether. But yeah, kratom has been one of the most effective anti-depressants I've ever taken and over the years, I must have tried most of the ones on the market.

It is fine to take wellbutrin and Kratom together. If anything it will potentiate Kratom in a similar way to tyrosine.

Wellbutrin can help you on t breaks also because it will help RLS because it will raise dopamine.

Taking Wellbutrin while detoxing from kratom sounds like a terrible idea. I don't know about how it affects RLS, but it has stimulating properties and you won't be getting much sleep on it if you're new to it. Seriously, some people crush it up and snort it because it gives a vague stim effect.
For me personally taking wellbutrin just by itself caused an increase in anxiety as well, which would be exacerbated by kratom detox. Not a fan of the drug in general.

I took zyban , same drug as wellbutrin in a standard release instead of extended release, on a tolerance break and it worked fantastic for mitigating RLS. I would usually get bad RLS but this worked for that. It didn't really affect sleep one way or the other. I had got this to stop smoking cigarettes and I still have some I will use for my next t break. The stimulating properties could have helped with the general fatigue you might feel on a break. I think it might be similar to tyrosine.

Unfortunately, this was my response too. My dr. had me on WAY too much Wellbutrin for too many years. At a low dose it might have been useful, but as a "compliant" patient I took the higher dose and it made me very anxious to the point where I would tremble.
I do need something a bit stimulating to go with my SSRI, but I have found it - Kratom. My Guy is given Wellbutrin for his ADHD. I would love for him to try some kratom, but he is on so many other meds (heart meds), that I'm afraid to give him anything. Also during the 25 years I was on Wellbutrin I never drank alcohol. I don't think that it would be a good idea. If I wanted to go out and socialize I drank non-alcohol beer and 'mock-tails'. Watching everyone else get wasted actually helped me avoid drinking, lol. Perimenopause made me run for the wine aisle again, damn it. But kratom is a god-send there too

Oh damn! Just my opinion (AND my experience), but when I mentioned Medical MJ to my rheumatologist she lost her damn mind. I hate to say this, but she is a first class dimwit when it has comes to my over-all care: now I have to worry that she will dump me if she starts screening me for cannabis.
I'm sure that plenty of people will disagree about this: I have always been completely HONEST with my doctors and - every single time - it has gotten me into nothing but trouble.
But then, I'm on Medicaid so we are all - by default - drug seekers (OR dealers). My Reumatologist said "Well, if you use Medical cannabis, you will never be given painkillers."
FIVE MINUTES LATER SHE SAID THAT SHE NEVER PRESCRIBED PAINKILLERS FOR ANYONE!!!! I don't even know how to deal with this woman who is so terrified of being censored that she is comfortable with watching me in agony. But if you are poor in America: a woman, a person of color, young... forget it. You will not be trusted.
I really hate to "go there," but if you are a white man in America, you will keep getting 2cd and 3rd and 4th chances, because you are "valuable."
I don't presume to know anything about you, Tweed Hat, but if your dr. didn't even make a note of your kratom use in your records, then keep lollinnnng (and thank your XY s

So, why can't I mention kratom? It's not yet a scheduled narcotic. I don't think they would drop me for that.

There's a ton of misinformation on kratom on the internet, even the Wikipedia article has some bias. Most of it paints kratom as some dangerous recreational drug. If you just Google "kratom" (which is likely what your doctor will do if they haven't heard of it) you're going to get swamped with news articles repeating the same lies. I wouldn't trust my doctors (I have a psych and a primary) to find unbiased, scientific information. I personally don't mention it to my doctors, there's really no need to, unless you really trust them not to pass judgement. You probably know more about it than your average doc.

Nope. I am on Wellbutrin and it has saved my sanity, while kratom had saved my life.
I will say that there is an interaction between alcohol and Wellbutrin. You could have a seizure, worst case scenario. Best sake scenario is that you will experience the ungodly effects of a Wellbutrin hangover. It will feel like your skull is being drilled open.
If you plan on getting wasted, becareful. Be careful of the 'Wellbutrin hangover' and don't seize, okay? The kratom part will be completely harmless.
Drink plenty of water.

I wouldn't tell my doctor I took Kratom because they will mark you off as a drug addict in your chart and you'll be treated differently.

I take 300mg wellbutrin XR daily and also dose kratom 3 times daily. Never had a problem.

I took Wellbutrin for over a decade and it was not something I would recommend in general - not anymore. I started taking kratom daily a few years ago and quit all other meds. I have taken kratom and Wellbutrin together with mixed results. It wasn’t dangerous for the most part - except for the suicidal thoughts and attempts. But kratom by itself works way better than Wellbutrin ever did.

So far kratom and Wellbutrin don't see to effect one another. Quite frankly, the Wellbutrin doesn't seem to do squat. Perhaps I need more time for it to build up in my system. I'll give it another month. If it don't do anything I may switch to regular kratom use instead.

Definitely give it some more time. Antidepressants take awhile.
While depressed mood and lack of interest in activities may need up to 4-6 weeks to improve, disturbances in sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks.

Don't worry unless your at like 500-600mg I've been taking Wellbutrin at 400mg and taking kratom daily for years, I also have epilepsy too and it hasn't changed my seziures so don't worry too much, listen to your body, I'd be more worried about phycological side effects.

That could be because you're also taking epilepsy meds at the same time.
