Wow Black Seed Oil
Ok, I know there have been discussions of BSO on this forum before, as a potentiator, as help with withdrawal, etc. So if I should take this discussion elsewhere let me know. But I think it deserves its own thread.
I've read about kratomites using BSO for the above reasons before but I didn't really understand the mechanisms behind it, and my experience with other potentiates was not great. Nothing really made a noticeable difference.
My wife has been having major health anxiety issues (hypochondira...its real and its not pleasant to deal with in extreme cases) so looking for some anxiety reducers I went to the Vitamin Shoppe on Saturday night and picked up some CBD for her to try. While there, I decided to also bite the bullet and try Black Seed Oil. I only take kratom a couple of times a week but went through a bit of a higher use period to the point where I've had mild but noticable intradose withdrawals even though I've scaled back usage. It's lessening every 4-5 day break I take but its still there. Anyways, Saturday was a kratom night for me, and for whatever reason it was one of those days where I just wasn't getting much from my kratom doses. The mood lift was very minor, not getting the usual energy boost, etc. I had one more planned dose that day, so when I got home I took a teaspoon of BSO and 20 mins later my last 2g of kratom.
A short time after that I got honeymoon level kratom effects. I rarely get this even after taking 5 day breaks, and certainly not on my 3rd dose of a kratom day. But it was strong and noticeable. I haven't taken kratom since so I'm not sure if this was placebo or just a coincidence, but I certainly enjoyed it.
The next day after nighttime I expected to feel some slight excessive sweating and my legs feeling a little heavy which is usually the extent of the W/Ds I feel nowadays. And maybe that first night I wake up 1-2 times and feel iffy, but it's usually completely gone by night 2. Instead, after taking another teaspoon of BSO and 20mg of CBD, I got absolutely none of these symptoms at all. I felt 100% normal and actually feeling a little good. Onto the next day, same feelings. Again, this is just one observation and could be placebo, or could be my body finally dropping that little bit of dependence that I've built from kratom (at least the perceptible level of dependence) but Black Seed Oil was 2 for 2.
I'd like to learn more about the method of action and whether its safe to supplement this stuff regularly. I read that there may be some mu opioid receptor agonism at play, but very slight. That sucks because taking BSO only extends the amount of time my opitate receptors are activated, which may have bad effects for me down the line. Some people on reddit reported very minor withdrawal issues after taking regularly for a long time. So who knows. But antecdotally, I've had a great experience with BSO and if you havent tried it yet, its certainly worth it in my book.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

Y'know I've had a bottle of BSO in the fridge like, forever, and dont' take it often because of that horrible, nasty, burning in hell taste!!!
Here is my Toss & Wash Method for taking BSO - get a spoon ready. I use either a Half or full Teaspoon. No more than a Tsp? OK, make a nice cup of warm Tea.. use herbal Tea w/ honey. Or maybe some Golden Milk turmeric tea.. you'll use the Tea, to chase the BSO, wash it down your throat & esophagus.. make sure it's warm, but NOT too hot since you'll be taking a big gulp of Tea. Now... stand over the kitchen sink. With measured Teaspoon in hand, tip head back and pour the BSO down on the back of tongue.. Hold breath, and swallow. Avoid getting any BSO around your mouth!! You want to swallow it down quickly. Grab the warm Tea cup and immediately wash it down!!

The website examine.com has some of the most current information about many many supplements with supporting scientific articles. It's a great place to learn about any supplement you may have interest in.
Here's a link to the information they have on BSO:

It's pretty rough! Tastes like acrid, bitter, somewhat spicy cumin oil. It's commonly used in Middle Eastern food as a seasoning.
As a side note they also use it in the Middle East specifically for withdrawal from opioids rather than some of the things that are used here in the West. It's effective enough it definitely helps!

Re: Wow Black Seed Oil
I'm interested to find out if the opiate activity in BSO only delays the withdrawals for someone like me who is only lightly dependent. In that, my normal kratom cycle is 2 days on, 5 days completely off. But if I'm taking BSO for 2 days, then I'm basically 4 days on, 3 days off, with 2 of those on days being extremely mild. So its possible I'm making myself more dependent in that regard by firing up at least some of those receptors more habitually.BurntEnds wrote:herbalhippie wrote:

But then again, cheese has mild opiate receptor activity and I don't really plan out my cheese eating days. If BSO is mild to that degree, then its not an issue.

I take it daily with Curcurmin and Bioperine. Seems to give it really long legs. I get a gram of BSO from 2 of these capsules.
