Just wanted to share, with the aid of kratom and willpower, i recently made it to the milestone of one year of sobriety, which is the longest amount of clean time I've ever had, since before I began drinking and using more than 13 years ago. No AA/NA required. It can be done.
So here's to you kratom, you're alright.

Nice! I'm at 7 months myself. I hit an AA meeting every now and then to support others but I don't work the program. Idk if I could have done it without kratom. It helped in every way at the beginning and still does. Congrats on your year!

I myself continue with moderate drinking (as opposed to previous out of control drinking), but my intentions wasn´t quit (yet), but i can see what an accoplishment this is... burning one for ya !

Congrats to you OP, and all of you who are staying sober! It's a great feeling to wake up every day feeling refreshed and with a clear head, rather than a hangover from drugs/alcohol.

I'm the same way. I still drink, but in moderation. Maybe 1-2 times a month. A far cry from where I was several years ago - drinking until I was on my ass every night. Ironically, the thing that got me off alcohol was the painkillers and anti-depressants my doctor prescribed me. They completely crushed my desire for alcohol. I then got off the painkillers/SSRI using kratom.

I would consider it being sober since kratom doesn't mess with your state of mind and cognitive function the same way alcohol or hard drugs do. Kratom, for most, is still a much healthier alternative as long as it's taken responsibly. But yeah, I could see it up for debate in a way. Although, I have no desire to debate it lol.

Congrats for the time and as to whether it counts as sobriety I say if it's good for you then that's all that counts as far as I'm concerned. I've seen people smoking two cigarettes at the same time (forgot they had a lit one in the ashtray) with a mountain of coffee cups in front of them but it had been years since their last DWI so as far as they're concerned they're sober and good for them.

On the other hand I had a friend who's dad used to laugh and say that if it wasn't for his valium and his martinis he'd be on drugs too.

Haha that was my preferred mixture. Not specifically Valium and martinis but similar. Helluva combination to get off of, that's for sure. Back in the day things were different when it came to what was acceptable.
