Wired[.]com Article: "The Kratom Civil War is Heating Up and MAHA Has Picked a Side"

This article was published 2 days ago, on June 15th -- I'm very worried about the future of plain leaf powder Kratom legality at this time, now that it has this big of a target on it due to being associated with 7-Oh and the horror stories of withdrawal and escalating usage that come with 7-Oh on it's own versus plain leaf. Curious to hear input from others on this as well.

I haven’t read this article but I did hear some news regarding the way in which MAHA has taken an interest in it. It seems to me that they’re pushing more intentionally towards banning 7-OH while leaving plain leaf powder legalized? Or are they pushing to ban all but the company/companies that lobbied enough money to prove “they” were the only safe alternative? It’s not a good look either way being associated with them but from the brief reporting I saw it did seem like they were at least differentiating between the two.

I haven’t read it but I’ve heard a lot of people worried about the same and to me it makes logical sense they’d come after plain leaf when all the bad press often labels 7oh kratom. I’ve even encountered many 7oh users who think they are in fact consuming kratom. And then you have all the people defending 7oh as a necessary; important thing that has helped them. But it seems undeniable that it is a highly potent, synthetic substance we don’t have enough testing for.

Call it something else. The growed-ups are wayyyy toooo old to keep up ha-ha. Just name it something benign or pseudo patriotic or religious and they won't look twice at it. At least in Murica, that's about where we are. Does it sound good ? Then it is good, look away ya commie socialist etc. Literally just call it "Freedom Tea", there, it's safe for at least 2-6 years now.

it might have helped some people according to their own anecdotal experience ("helped" is a relative term), but it has hurt far more people. our country has been in the grips of an opioid epidemic, this is just an attempt to find a replacement for fe*t and all the fe*t analogues that were banned in china 2 years ago. the companies selling these 7-oh products are just capitalizing off the popularity, they will extract as much wealth as they can.
that's what it is, capitalism baby. profit über alles.
