Have you ever went from loving a leaf to hating it after a break
We're all familiar with leaf that doesn't work until the 3rd or 4th try but have you've ever lost a leaf you loved after switching strains? The Afterburner Bali was one of my absolute favorites. It was my daily driver for months, it would never fail to hit. But then I switched to the 30yr Jade Hulu when that came out, ever since then the Bali has been a complete miss for me every time I take it. Even though I've taken a break from the Jade all I get from the Bali now is a headache.

I’ve experienced the same, and if I were to guess, many or even most of the community has as well if they’ve been using Kratom for long enough.
My rule of thumb is to wait 6-8 weeks and retry something that doesn’t hit anymore. I’ve broken my own rule many times and with rare exception ended up disappointed each time. Then like magic, it starts hitting again if I wait long enough.
My take away is that personal chemistry plays an immense role in the effects we feel, and that personal chemistry is a *very* fickle thing
if something is hitting just right, enjoy it while it lasts!

I like the 6-8 week process - my own rotation is around that (six to eight weeks before I ever do the same batch again) and I've never experienced what you are experiencing now. In fact, it's always been the opposite - sometimes things that aren't "great" are suddenly great.
I know a lot of folks poo-poo the rotation process, but I honestly think you can get into a LOT of problems with using the same batch continually, and this may be one of them (IOW, if you had only used Afterburner once ever month or two instead of daily it might never have lost it's power for you). But, again, we are all going off what we experience ourselves so it's SO hard to generalize (I just know I have my rotation VERY carefully down, in racks so I never make a mistake. The one or two times I've broken this rule I've always had issues).

If I use a strain again any sooner than 2 weeks, it just won't hit. It doesn't matter how amazing it is, any sooner than that and it's a dud. On one hand, it's super annoying but on the other hand, it does make it last longer. By only using it no more than twice a month, I can really stretch out a bag!!Kelleytoons wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 7:48 am I like the 6-8 week process - my own rotation is around that (six to eight weeks before I ever do the same batch again) and I've never experienced what you are experiencing now. Sure, put it aside for a few months, come back to it. I've been into leaf for a long time and it's
not a rare occurrence to have some of your favorite leaf stop working.
One very, very odd thing, oh yes, very odd indeed, is what I call "the immaculate reset"...no K break,
just switched up vendors and, holy hell, I'm back to the honeymoon phase. This has happened several
times, the first being when I switched to Kraydo's leaf. Everything they had hit, especially his reds....made
me right bad checks
and buy around 6 kilos in just couple of weeks. A few weeks later I revisited the leaf
that had stopped hitting and DAMN
, they hit too. Leaf is very fickle that way.
