Kratom & Long COVID

Post by pray4peace4 »

Recent studies show that 20% of people who have had COVID-19 develop Long COVID after the viral infection is over. It's destroying people's lives. Someone who gets it has debilitating exhaustion & cannot work. I spoke with a lady earlier this week who only got COVID once in early 2020 before she was vaccinated. She recovered quickly from the virus, but 2 weeks later got Long COVID. She hasn't worked a day since & is desperate for healing.

I got Long COVID after a very mild infection this last July. It's scary. You're so tired it feels like you'll literally die. But having plenty of this magic elixir called kratom I decided to see if it could help. I tried reds, I tried greens, I tried the illustrious TFH Blast Off Bali, a white of renown. And you know what? None of them helped.

The next obvious move is to see s doctor. Guess what? Doctors don't know how to treat it nor what causes it. My medical provider, Kaiser Health Plan, which is a huge operation on the West Coast, has taken the position that people with Long COVID are simply having mental problems, so they announced that members with the syndrome with be treated in the Psychiatry Department with counseling. Grrrr!

Fortunately there's researchers working on finding a cure. If you have it & can't find relief, there are a few medications & methods that have cured people & have shown promise in scientific testing. Nicotine patches or gum are being used by some doctors & they report rapid relief. I tried the gum & I reverted back to normal a day later, but if you've never smoked cigarettes, be aware that it can be traumatic. It'll give you intense anxiety, horrendous headaches, a pounding heart, heavy sweating. Check with your doctor before trying this to make sure your heart can handle it. Also, only try 1/4 of a gum stick & see how things go. If you get better the next day, keep using the gum once per day until you reach "normal". If you don't improve, increase to 1/2 stick for 1 day only.

A 3 - 5 day fast is curing people. This method is also undergoing research. It causes the body's metabolism to start burning every excess nutrient in your body. Don't try this if you have diabetes.

There's other things you can try. Do a Google search for Long COVID & there's lots of resources there to help you out.

Hey...this is me. Mild mild covid infection July 2022 and then boom..long covid. NOBODY in my experience thought/thinks it's psychiatric. It falls neatly into a syndrome called POTS. Postural orthostatic hypotension syndrome. Going to a long covid specialty clinic tomorrow at NYU. Never had any of these symptoms before. Not expecting much from tomorrow's appointment but, hey, gotta give it a go.

Wish you well... During my bout, my blood pressure would sail up to 152/99, then later drop to 95/61. I'd pass out about 10 times every day. I couldn't do anything. Man that sucked. You might consider asking the clinic to check your IgG4 antibody levels. A normal person has only teeny amounts in their blood, but a Long COVID sufferer can have high levels & that's considered a disease. There's a drug that specifically targets that antibody & reduces it to normal levels, & it's given relief to some folks. It's called Rituxan (rituximab). It's also extremely expensive so be forwarned to try other things first, unless you have really good medical insurance.

Went to the long COVID clinic today and three things were suggested. Co Q 10 and n acetyl cysteine. I forget the doses. Plus, any virus, not just COVID, can cause a flare up, and if that happens, take paxlovid off label. It is thought that it could kill the dormant COVID virus in your system. But it's only to be used during a flare up.

Also, for the orthostatic hypotension, spoonfuls of table salt, lots of water (tho Gatorade was preferred) and compression legwear.

Good luck!

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am chronically ill with a bunch of genetic disorders and the prospect of yet another debilitating illness makes me want to give up. For this reason I am petrified of COVID will probably never give up using masks in enclosed spaces, as much as I hate them.
I do want to mention monolaurin because I have one friend with Long COVID and another with Lyme Disease who are using it and it's helping them. It's an antiviral that supposedly has the ability to dissolve envelope viruses so the immune system can handle them.
There are quite a few articles in PubMed about it -- tons of in vitro studies --but nothing that qualifies as a peer reviewed study that proves efficacy. That said, there are ton of anecdotal reports out there from people with Long COVID, Epstein Barre, Lyme Disease, Herpes, etc.
I am currently taking it because my formerly dormant HSV was reactivated by the COVID vaccine and boosters (HSV re-activation is a known potential adverse effect). Anyhow, it seems to be suppressing my HSV entirely, thank goodness, because given my risk category, I'll need to get more COVID jabs.
I also gave some to my 15-year-old dog Liam to see if it would help with his fatigue.
He does seem improved but more tellingly, it had the unexpected effect of nearly eliminating his viral papillomas (those benign mini-mushroom-looking warts that older dogs sprout all over the place), which would seem to indicate antiviral activity.
Anyhow, you may want to look into it.
The brand I am using is Lauricidin. I do not know which brand is the best, but it's the oldest brand was the cheapest to try (I wanted a two month supply and they sell the 8 oz. jar as a starter kit on their website for $19.95 including shipping and tax. They ship it first class USPS. The same bottle costs $35 on Amazon. Here is the starter kit link if anyone needs it: https://www.lauricidin.com/starter-kit )
Please note I have f-all to do with this company. I'm only posting this link because the cheap starter kit deal isn't on the website menu so you might not find it otherwise.
I do not know if it will work for anybody else besides me.
