Breaks

Post by oftheshire »

Just wanted to see how many people do and don’t take breaks. I’ve been taking kratom daily for several years with no real breaks. Just turned 26. I take 3.5 g twice a day and actually just took first full day off a few weeks ago. No withdrawals it was just hard to get motivated to work on my projects. It’s definitely more engrained in my day to day than it should be and I plan on taking a long long break once I move and get settled in a few weeks. I don’t think anything is good to do every day if it becomes something you think about too much (I don’t have chronic pain or anything). Although, I drink coffee daily and don’t have an issue with myself doing so. But everyone’s different. Just curious! Cheers.

When you get older (and DO have daily pain) you may find that doing without is a bit more troublesome.

Nowadays I've cut back because my knees were replaced (and thus the *major* source of my pain is gone) but my arm, shoulder, foot and back still hurt. A lot. So, yes, it's hard to go without. Although I do (I took some this morning - I will take some tonight to help me sleep. But with tennis three or four times a week I really can't take a major break).

I've been eating kratom 3 years without a break. Still getting fantastic burns, but I adjust my doses and vendors on a regular basis. Not against it if ever required for myself. So far not needed for this kratom lover.

Been taking kratom for nine years in December. Just turned 34. I took a month off last summer but that's because I literally ran out of kratom. And money.

I've been wanting to take a break for months now but honestly my self-control is a bit weak at the moment. My burns aren't as strong as they could be and don't want to feel like I'm "wasting" premium kratom. Been trying to do a taper but honestly that might not work due to my self-control issues. So I might have to go cold turkey. Also need a break from marijuana. Planning on two weeks but 30 days would really cleanse my whole system.

The worst withdrawals for me come exactly 24 hours from my last dose. My body felt very "sensitive". Either felt too cold or too hot at all times. Tossing and turning because every position in bed felt uncomfortable. If I can get past that without ripping my own face off I usually feel better after 48-72 hours. (cold like symptons linger a bit longer. watery eyes, nose feels stuffy)

Ideally I'd like to get to 4 days using kratom, 3 days off per week. Use kava during 2 of my off days. 1 day per week stone sober. (no kratom, no weed, nothing). 2 week break every 6 months. At that point, I'd be completely guilt free about my kratom use. Strong coffee works well for t-breaks but ideally I'd like to drop that too eventually for something more mild like Yerba Mate.

sorry for the essay. :? this green platinum is hitting good

I do not take breaks. Mainly because even if I skip a dose - or even take my evening dose too early - my urge to drink returns. Kratom is effectively a maintenance drug for me. I hope to eventually make the switch to naltrexone, but I'm just not there yet. I also used to chip at amphetamines, and eventually became a daily methamphetamine user - I was never able to go more than 6 months or so clean until I got on kratom - now its been almost 3 years. Bit of a miracle drug for me.

Been taking kratom for over 7 years. When I first started taking it there wasn't a lot of info out about the dependence aspect of it, and my dosing and tolerance shot up fast. I got to 5 grams 5 times a day. After about 6 months I decided to take a break and I'll admit, it was a little rough.

Now my doses are fairly low, usually 2 grams twice a day, so I can take a day or 2 off and it doesn't bother me. What I prefer to do though is lower my dosage to around 1 gram only at night for about a week. This does a decent job resetting my tolerance and allows me to get some sleep.
