do Seasons of the year have a major impact on kratom attributes?
I'm a kratom newb. On a different forum I encountered these 2 particular comments on a thread complaining about currently-weak (April 2025) white kratom strains....
"FWIW for small batch, it's rainy season. Come back this summer if you're looking for over the top energy / potency. "
"Agree, Im still waiting for kratom to be good again. I can't believe I forgot to stock up before the rainy season."
Are these commenters mistaken/exaggerating?
Or is season of the year indeed a major factor in kratom alkaloid profiles/quality?
If so, which seasons attribute affects to which colors?

I've definitely seen talk about seasons affecting kratom potency/quality. The dry season is supposed to be best for harvesting because the alkaloids are at their highest levels, however I really don't know the science behind it.

Summer generally has more consistent leaf but you can get fire any time of year if you are discerning about what you buy. Word of mouth always helps, if enough trusted people give good reviews on a strain, I generally pull the trigger especially if the effects are in line with what I'm looking for.
Just this morning I'm dosing some fantastic Classic Red Maeng Da from DTE's 4/1 drop, which means the kratom was likely harvested some time in early March.

Less production during the rainy season. Drying kratom during the rainy season is harder and risky. Most kratom is still dried outdoors and even the indoor dry houses the humidity wrecks the drying process. Its alot more common to have microbial growth issues. Plus less people want to pick leaves in the rain. Kratom sold during rainy season could also be old stock.
