Wondering if Kratom is causing diarrhea
For about a week now I have had diarrhea. No matter what I eat, which is a very healthy diet, I get excessive gas and irritable bowels, and then....
I have been taking Kratom for about 5 months with no problem, other than slight constipation. That is why this thinking it could be the Kratom seems backwards. But I would like to know if it has caused this kind of problem from any of you.?
I am taking 4gr about 8am (white), 4gr at 5pm(green), 6gr at 2am(red). 14gpd.
I can't figure it out. I am 71, and have been treated for IBS for years. I have trouble there often. I started a Keto diet and it helped a lot. and I take an SSRI, and small amount of Clonazepam per day. Oh yea, the 1800mg a day of Gabapentin for neuropathy.

Kratom has upset my stomach a couple times over the years, but never for a week straight and it’s usually just a quick bout of nausea (wobbles) that goes away with eating. Sounds like maybe you caught a stomach bug, or could be the IBS acting up. Could always cut out a few doses and see if it improves.

My son has IBS and occasionally will get diarrhea from it, not for an entire week though.IdiopathicPain247 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 8:31 am For about a week now I have had diarrhea. No matter what I eat, which is a very healthy diet, I get excessive gas and irritable bowels, and then....

The one and only time I got severe diarrhea from kratom I am sure it was from a bad batch - it almost made me go to the ER (but I waited it out). I am sure it was a particular batch because after I had had it for a solid week I was fine for a month afterwards (using other kratom) and then I tried the same batch again and... same results (so I threw it away and everything else I bought from that vendor who will remain nameless).
Otherwise, no, just the opposite (kratom as a rule causes constipation).

The opposite is for real. Before I started hydrating extra to compensate, there were times I wish I would have temporary diarrhea for an hour.Kelleytoons wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:11 pm The one and only time I got severe diarrhea from kratom I am sure it was from a bad batch - it almost made me go to the ER (but I waited it out). Yeah, the general rule is to take magnesium supplements, and at rather high doses. Although hydration certainly helps (and everyone is probably not hydrating enough anyway - here in Florida, particularly with all the tennis I play, it's a REAL problem and one I struggle with all the time).
Since I've been taking supplements on a regular basis I've been, well, regular.

It's possible you got a contaminated batch, just like spinach, lettuce, strawberries, can be contaminated with E-Coli or some other bacteria, it can get into kratom. When it happens there's no way to be sure because obviously we ingest so many things before it happens so the only way to know is the way Kelley did it, immediately stop taking that batch and try it again a couple months later (a risk no one wants to take). It happened to me once and I was sure it was the kratom and I tried a little of it much later and I didn't get sick but I'm still not convinced it wasn't it. That was the only time I ever got the stomach bug from it. The wobbles are much different and don't count as contamination IMO.

Depending on whom your ordering from contamination; Ecoli, Salmonella could easily be the problem. Good news is if you keep powering through and its not severely effecting you, your body will probably power through. Although your immune system may get fatigued leading to you getting sicker or catching something new. Your age will also be a factor i wouldn't recommend you keep using it if your older at all. I also actually dont recommend powering through ever. The thing is with some strains (variants) of ecoli and salmonella, they are milder and if your immune system is good you might not even notice. That's why some people say well it didn't make me sick. There are a few strains of ecoli and salmonella that will have you in the hospital not matter your age or immune system, those are the ones that typically you hear about in the news. Thats why it can be hard sometimes to tell if its the kratom. If you stop taking it and then try later but nothing happens it could just be that your immune system did a better job this time.
Having ecoli or salmonella in kratom powder is not a rare event with the kratom industry. E coli specifically is more common. It all really depends who your vendor is buying from. Id start with informing your vendor today about these adverse reactions and ask for a copy of the lab. If he or she is on the up and up they will take note of this adverse reaction. If they get multiple reports on the same powder you would have to be a criminal not to take action.

Considering mit and 7-OH are opioids it should be doing the exact opposite. Whatever batch you were using I would throw it away it could have bacteria/mold or some other contaminate in it.
