Guilty Pleasures?

So today in my rotation my one and only "guilty pleasure" came up and I thought I'd mention this to see what others might think/have.

To me a guilty pleasure is a kratom vendor/batch that no one else likes (or at least won't admit to liking :>). Mine is New Dawn, a bulk vendor that I actually found through this forum years ago (someone mentioned it in a thread and I tracked it down). I bought a ton of stuff from them but nowadays only this one batch is still left in my rotation.

But WHAT a batch! It always works, even at low doses (today it was just under 2 grams) and it's always wonderful and, for at least an hour or so, makes me think it's the best I've ever gotten. Just like the old "even a blind squirrel can find a nut now and then" I suspect it was just a weird thing they ended up with such a good batch that matches up with the likes of TFH, Denette and DTE. Now that I've put just about everything I bought from them up in my attic this is the one batch I'm glad I still take regularly.

I think any vendor can potentially sell a fire batch unless they are deliberately flipping bunk leaf for a profit. What separates the "elite" vendors from the rest is consistency from batch to batch.

With that said, even the elite vendors have "mid" batches from time to time. I got a gold from one of my favorite small batch vendors and it's just...not good for me. Felt kinda weak by itself, I tried it in a blend with a green last night and it gave me a headache. Can't win em all

New Dawn, a bulk vendor that I actually found through this forum years ago (someone mentioned it in a thread and I tracked it down).

Batches come and go... so do the "popup" vendors. On the Master List of vendors, there's over 200+ and each vendor sells ? lets say A Dozen "strains" ?

That's 2400 kratom products For Sale at any given time! A basic physics lesson = the Normal Distribution, a bell curve which says that 95% falls within a range...

So what's the most likely explanation ? With these 2400 batches... Only a few are tested for potency. Mitragynine content. We don't have standardized herbs. So given that... We judge any Batch, within the context of Vendor. Overall opinion of Vendor is >> more important than any single Batch or... certainly any 1 experience or "burn".

I guess what I'm trying to say - A vendor who sells "Bulk Kratom" is unlikely to have 1 batch totally different than their overall Menu ? That 1 batch would be an "outlier" then, it would not make sense for a Vendor who sells very average Leaf - to suddenly offer a single product that's totally different ? But - maybe they got a small stock either by Direct Import or domestic, from a different Supplier... Or maybe they spiked or "enhanced" the 1 batch, in order to attract new customers ? Not likely but possible ? Bulk vendors find themselves with a BIG stock of average leaf... that doesn't move. Does not sell. At some point, any Vendor has to consider... staying in business ? Or doing something to Sell their stock ?

Bottom Line, buying from a TOP vendor, your TFH, Denette, DTE, etc. there's a "better chance" of receiving a TOP batch! But nothing guaranteed!

I did think about the "spiked leaf" thing, but I honestly just think this was just a one of a kind lucky hit. OTOH, the person on this forum (sorry, don't remember the name a few years ago) who mentioned New Dawn said he liked them a lot, and then I did as well. Until I found the good ones. And then all my ND stuff drifted slowly down the rotation until only this one batch was left.

Every single time it comes up I think "well, I suppose I ought to remove it and replace with one of my better vendor batches" and then... it's just great. So - it stays and I guess I need to stop overthinking it. I'm glad I have it but that's about it.

Feel Free Kava/Kratom shots (little blue bottle) are a guilty pleasure. They're pricey for what they are, but occasionally it's a low effort treat. Wonder how long they'll stay on the market.

Someone gave me a bottle once. I drank half and felt like I took too much. And I was dosing high at that time (before I wised up). I don't like using anything that's not kràtom powder from a known vendor because who knows what and how much of "what" is in there.

Have you ever tried Kava on its own? That plant also doesn't mess around. But I respect and support your position. If you're unsure of what something is, stay away from it.
