Using kratom as a tool for ADHD. Am I overdoing dosage?
Hi all! I've recently started using kratom for its stimulant effects as well as its mood-boosting properties for ADHD and morning depression. I was going with 4g, then 3.5, now 3. Do you think this is a good point, or should I continue to decrease? I'm not sure where the cutoff is. I just want to avoid dependency as much as possible while still being effective. I have a feeling 2.5g or 2g will likely be the sweet spot. Thoughts? Advice for scheduling/off days/supplements? I know my use scenario is a little different than what's common. Thank you all!

Try lowering. Try 1.5 a few times. If it's consistently not working, try 1.75. Somewhere between 1.5 and 2g is likely where you'll land.
Try it mornings only. Once/day and you should be okay.
Learn about where to get good kratom, not garbage. Then buy from a few good vendors and rotate your doses. In other words, don't take the same kratom on successive days.
Read this forum to learn who the best vendors are and buy from them.
As far as off days, a good rule of thumb is two days on, 1 day off.
Luckily for mood lift and focus, your dose can be lower. And expect the response to be SUBTLE, not socks blown off.
Taken in morning, you'll be on an empty stomach so that's good.
As far as supplements go, magnesium is recommended. I take mg at night for a more restful sleep.

With good kratom you should be able to use around 2 grams for an ideal dose. If you *can* get by with less that's great, but I wouldn't be afraid to dose as high as 3 grams. Just be aware, though, that more powerful kratom should be taken at lower levels (IOW, there isn't a perfect dose size for every batch).
As a very general rule oxidized reds need a higher dose. And *most* folks need lower doses of whites. But it's all relative to you and only you can figure it out. Make sure you journal your doses and batches (and make sure you rotate your batches/vendors - a good rule of thumb is do not take the same one more than once every three days).
And then take on an empty stomach and always have regular BMs (if you are constipated the kratom won't work well). If you follow this you probably won't need to take any days off (most of us regular users seldom bother with taking time off. Again, another very general rule is it takes three days for kratom to completely exit your system. So any time less than that is wasted - if you truly need a break take a week off at the very least).

Yes. Welcome to MM. According to Johns Hopkins Medical research, you're in the largest group of kratom users... More of us, use it for depression & mood... compared to Chronic Pain relief, or those doing Recovery etc.
The answer is simple: Use the Lowest Amount which will give you some good effects!! I know folks, who use like coffee in the morning, 1 Half a gram... yes Less than 1 gram.
Always remember : Less Is More.

Wow, I had no idea mental health/mood boost is the #1 use of kratom. Makes sense! I know this is a kratom forum so I'm preaching to the choir, but the first time I used kratom I couldn't believe it; it was like my entire perspective shifted. Life is truly a miracle! For a long time I thought that was a worthless platitude, but now I know it with every fiber of my being! Hope that doesn't sound too extra
But seriously, I haven't exercised, eaten right, engaged with hobbies, moderated alc/cannabis, or seen friends this consistently in years. Even got off lexapro!
I'll try going lower and see how it goes. I already use a scale, but thanks for the tip on teaspoon dosing, if I ever find myself in a pinch.
It's disappointing that vendors would tell new users to go hog wild just for the sake of selling more. With the FDA and news media hysteria, I think it's everyone's responsibility to be safe, respectful, and responsible for this plant. I've read a few horror stories, only to learn these people were chasing the dragon and ending up at 50,60,80g, and then go hOw DiD tHiS HaPpEn!?! I wonder

Many of us low dosers were once high or higher dosers and learned the hard way that not only wasn't it the way to go and led nowhere, but it was LESS effective. For many reasons...tolerance build up, kratom not working anymore, side effects. This is a" less is more" substance unlike most other things. Too much or too often and you will hit a wall. My analogy is if you are painting a wall. Nice thin coats work best. Put it on too thick and it won't stick or even dry. Wishing you good luck.
