I cut my dose in half overnight a couple of months ago, son cut his almost overnight, and husband is slowly tapering. Really, it's no big whoop either way. No limbs were lost, no casualties found.Nelson Baboon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 3:32 pm what several people had told me, before i came here and read great threads like this, is that very, very gradually tapering was the way to go.
i went crazy when i found small batch stuff, and was well over 20g a day, and often dosed at more than 10g. But then, ouch. sometimes no effect, and then feeling like utter shit when stuff wore off.
i've been trying the gradual tapering, but it's taking forever. (down to 3.4g per dose today, but i'll probably hit 4 doses, plus some hirsuta and javanica).
I find myself very nervous about going as low as 1g, but hell - the worst that can happen is that i try it, it doesn't work, and i go back to the very gradual tapering.
lol - this is the best forum i've ever found. really appreciating it.

Re: Do you chase the buzz?
i just tried dosing 1.5g (hah - couldn't bring myself to go to 1). it's interesting. it took the edge off, but not much more. On the other hand, in trying to taper, if this result is consistent, I can certainly cut my daily amount by a good amount now - maybe only do a full (right now at 3.4g) does when i wake up, and then maybe at night, etc. Slowly taper the bigger doses, and then do 1.5 (and maybe also try 1)...but yeah. i'll see how this plays out.boureka wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 6:03 pmI cut my dose in half overnight a couple of months ago, son cut his almost overnight, and husband is slowly tapering. There's a good thread called something like "can you wash out without a complete break". Lots of good advice from the wise folks here.

Yup, i am tapering now, seeking the low-gram bliss. Appreciate the people who found the low dose 'secret' and shared it.

She's sitting here with me as I type this. She's 100%,.and has been for a while now. Thanks for asking.
Here she is,.seemingly knowing I'm talking about her and getting the f outta here.
I'm doing a Fishing With John marathon tonight. I need a laugh. It WAS we but I had to go and mention her.

Re: Do you chase the buzz?
Does she get shy, or annoyed? My mom's cat, Crystal, was rescued from a life of banality to a loving home (Mom's lap and bed). Gradually she is getting used to me sneaking in some head scratching and pets. She used to be like Regan in The Exorcist when I tried to make friends. Eh, she's old, has a weird tail, and is deaf, so I try not to take it personally.
Your bebs is a beautiful blackie. I'm sure she loves you tons. I am so missing my bebses, one canine and two feline.
I've never heard of that show, and back then, I was 11yrs and still had regular tv. What was I watching back then... I think I was reading The Chronicles of Narnia, Hardy Boys Casefiles (one of the boys always got a concussion in each book, yeesh), LOTR, Michael Creighton, and Star Trek books. In fact, on Saturdays I'd have my mom drop me off at Waldenbooks and I'd read those Star Trek (TOS) books and Jay Leno's Headlines books.
Did you know Odie from Garfield originally had an owner named Lyman who just disappeared one day?
Mighty good kratoming to you, sir!

Re: Do you chase the buzz?
Let's not start with cats - my fav time of the night is my TV watch with Molly, who snuggles in my arm (she will jump on the bed and talk to me and tell me "it's TV TIME!" anytime I go into the bedroom).
To bring it back on point - you cut your dose but don't expect it to be magic right away. The idea is to lower your expectations and then be pleasantly surprised by the results. Also - I'm now thinking the absolute best way to dose is to have empty stomach (and bowels - MUST always be regular) and THEN about an hour later eat a small bite or two. I'm at least experimenting with this and would love to hear more feedback.

Re: Do you chase the buzz?
i experimented yesterday with lowering the dose as you, and some others, have suggested, and yeah - expectations were low, and i was very pleasantly surprised. I'm going to try to stick with this plan, but it wasn't entirely smooth sailing. On the up side, i redosed with 1 g before exercising, and i must say that it was the nicest dose i've had in weeks. Clear head, not tired, great mood - this is what i want my kratom to do. BUT i found that by the time i went to bed, i felt pretty damn shitty (i've been tapering after being up at one point to over 20g a day and sometimes up to 10 or more g per dose) - and had some horrible insomnia until i dosed twice (the small doses didn't work here) and then took a larger dose of hirsuta (somehow felt like i wasn't cheating). But then finally got some sleep.Kelleytoons wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 8:10 am Let's not start with cats - my fav time of the night is my TV watch with Molly, who snuggles in my arm (she will jump on the bed and talk to me and tell me "it's TV TIME!" anytime I go into the bedroom).

But I really, really, liked the effect of a smaller dose. This is not something that would have occurred to me (hence "pleasantly surprised"). One of the reasons i like this board..

Re: Do you chase the buzz?
Im definitely a dose cutter, my standards about 3 grams and i drop it in half on occasion as a reset. Helps keep the buzz around more for me. Love the kitty talk, bittersweet though as i had to say goodbye to my 16 yo cat bro Frankie a couple months ago. But there will be another and its part of the deal.
