"Green/Daytime Reds" - Why not just call them slow greens?
I feel like kratom should only be labeled as a red if it is fermented, oxidized, or a blend containing one or both of these.
I do not understand this "daytime red" or "green red" trend. It really peeves me when I order a red and receive what is basically a green. I suppose I could just do my due diligence and contact vendors before making purchases but that's not the point. I just wish there was more of an industry standard when it came to naming conventions.
Agree? Disagree?

Re: "Green/Daytime Reds" - Why not just call them slow greens?
Names really don't mean anything - and there's no real way of making sure how almost any of the are processed/handled (with the exception of TFH but that's another story).
So, no, I don't mind what anyone calls anything - it's really up to reviews to me that matter (besides, one man's "red" can be another's "green". Or even "white". It's VERY subjective).

The label I find funny is "fast red". Kind of an oxymoron, isn't it?

When I first started taking krΓ tom I described it as coffee with chill. It's full of contradictions. Now, oxymorons? Now climb down here and give me a pinpoint estimate!

Stop asking about colors and making assumptions.
Ask questions you want the answers to: Could you describe the effects, the feeling of speed or slowness, how much mood lift does it provide, pain relief, longevity, taste, good for making tea? should i cap it or use an oblate? How does it compare to xyz?
And people do call them slow greens, lol, you just haven't been noticing. Use these forums and private messages to talk to people and get recommendations. A lot of us are on MeWe.com too. Be nice and we might invite you to chat with us in some groups.
You can also try to ask the vendor, although they are kind of restricted in the types of answers they can give, like medical advice is a no-no. But definitely they can compare a batch of 'John McEnrow Gold' vs 'Street Fighter Dermatologist Red.' And good vendors are starting to keep batch numbers as a way to get more of the same and to compare shipments.

Re: "Green/Daytime Reds" - Why not just call them slow greens?
Disagree. I think daytime reds have their own unique vibe and stand out on their own, instead of feeling like a relabeled green. Daytime reds give you an energy boost and pain relief in equal measure, which is hard to find for me with upper-mid greens. I don't currently take kratom for pain (at least not physical pain, knock on wood) but for someone who does need pain relief during the work day, daytime reds will be their thing. They feel well rounded (energy, pain relief, anxiolytic, u4ic, focus enhancing) in a way that you usually only get from the best greens.
There seems to be a demand in the kratom market for these daytime reds. DTE Botanicals had a drop today and the Super Red Kali, a daytime red, sold out within an hour. Then there's strains like 30 yr wild hangat hulu and wild crafted rocket red from TFH, or Red Krakatoa from Lucky Herbals. I notice enough of a subtle difference between a Super Red Kali (upper-mid red) and a D615 Green Quin (upper-mid green) that I feel the "green reds" are worth buying, dosing, and geeking out over.

Re: "Green/Daytime Reds" - Why not just call them slow greens?
I'm going to have to work on my arsenal of adjectives and adverbs to come up with the right words to describe the difference between standard "Greens" and unfermented daytime "Reds." I have no idea what the difference is in processing or harvesting, but few Kratom aficionados would mistake the DTE Wild Red Kali or the Smiley Time Red Smile I've been burning over the last several days for Green if they sampled them blind. As the owner of DTE said in an email announcing the last drop of the Wild Red Sakit back in January, "If you know, you know."
If I could sum up the subjective difference for me in one sentence I would say that good Greens can successfully mimic the subjective affects of certain prescription painkillers, but unfermented Reds provide a type of analgesia and relaxation that is much more distinctively associated with Kratom, and could not be mistaken for anything else. I would also venture that unfermented Reds are more of a "connoisseurs" Kratom. It took me a lot longer to come to appreciate those daytime Reds than Greens, maybe because of that resemblance that I imagined the latter bore to my former DOC.

Great characterization and I completely agree. For those with less linguistically capabilities Iβd say itβs very difficult to describe the difference, and really just something you feel out that comes with experience.OriginalLHB wrote: βThu Jun 08, 2023 1:17 pm I'm going to have to work on my arsenal of adjectives and adverbs to come up with the right words to describe the difference between standard "Greens" and unfermented daytime "Reds." Re: "Green/Daytime Reds" - Why not just call them slow greens?
I'm a chronic pain patient who is able to achieve a vaguely positive quality of life due to reds, so it may not make sense to many of you, but it makes complete sense to when my body is screaming. I can take kratom blindly and my body will indicate by its degree of mind altering pain and paralysis because other alkaloids do not touch this level of pain. There are aches, pains, disability, and if left untreated, euthanasia. That is where I would be, the latter, were it not for kratom.
If someone wants to send me a green that is a better painkiller than the do or die red supply I have that helps me with advanced levels of pain--when I first wake up, midday, night...and yes, some reds work better than others for my pain but they almost always work. I have not had the best of luck with fermented reds, but maybe it's because it puts me out. Simply put, there are reds like TFH Master Crafted Red Rocket XL that are fast reds, and RMD has always been faster to me. Should that be changed? Or are you sick of people like me asking about reds that will simultaneously attack pain and give me the energy to take care of my partner with cancer? I need all the pain killing the kratom world has to offer, and energy--I am severely anemic and would never get my partner to chemo without pain control and energy.
There are reds that haven't worked for me but that has been vendor specific. There are greens and green blends I will take when I'm terribly depressed but while my mood is elevated, the pain relief takes a huge hit.
It is easy to find a slow red. It's like walking into a wall. But since I started 'my kratom journey' 10 years ago, my constants for day pain were a range of RMD from varied vendors (many of which no longer exist but I have some wicked fond memories of vendors from that period, when the strain names were simpler and I found what worked for me. My pain has worsened profoundly since, so give me a decade and I will be chewing raw powder by the cup)--and for sedating pain leaf, never an issue.
I rarely use the term green reds because greens cannot help my legs, by can help my depression. Go figure. Red helps my legs and what I call my day reds are that which if I took before bed, I'd be awake all night.
My unpopular opinion is that, I am sorry if you feel cheated by reds not dark, fermented, or smelling like Diy kombucha. I feel like an annoying fly by being the very creature to ask about stimulating reds but believe me, it isn't just the power of suggestion when it comes to chronic pain. I was given meds before that should work on any normal person, but not me! I felt zero relief on something they give hospice patients and if it were the power of suggestion, the pain would have abated a little. It didn't. Not a degree. And my #1 reason for kratom is pain, but: green has helped my depression, whether fast or slow. I don't know why, but isn't it all a personal thing anyway? There are been a few posts where the OP asks about fast reds or green reds or whatever and someone steps in and says, if you want something fast, just take a green (that is a nice paraphrase of the words of a vendor, who put it much more brusquely, like I was the biggest idiot in the headshop) and I'm sorry if I'm naive, dumb, obsessed with labels like red, fast, pain, disability, cancer, awake, and alive.

Thank you. I'd give a kidney to win the DTE fast kratom Olympics. Okay, I wouldn't. I have a lot of problems. But thanks for saying this, since I got my fur standing on end and hissed a little. I took a fast/green kratom and lo and behold, my claws retracted and I became a WhiteAngelica again: aka an overpriced essential oil.Madvillain626 wrote: βWed Jun 07, 2023 2:33 am Disagree. What did you just call me?
So far DTE isn't doing much for me except that Blood Moon Bali. That stuff is BANGIN. I've got six or seven others, Red Forest Kali Super Red Kali Noble Red Horn Premium Red Elephant and Christmas Kali. The Christmas Kali was a gift and it's pretty nice, forgot about that. Red Elephant is a pain killing one. I guess 40% hit rate? That's not too bad actually, that's on par with most 'must haves" I guess. Thanks for making me work that out, it's better than I thought originally.

No I totally get what you are saying - I definitely understand and myself appreciate fast reds. I'm particularly fond of Red/white blends. What I'm talking about is when you order a red and get something indistinguishable from a green - For example, I just got Red Bone from Philly YLYL, and if you gave me a blind test, I would not be able to distinguish it from the Green Gayo or the Green Riau I got.WhiteAngelica wrote: βSat Jun 10, 2023 5:01 pm I'm a chronic pain patient who is able to achieve a vaguely positive quality of life due to reds, so it may not make sense to many of you, but it makes complete sense to when my body is screaming. I guess i'm more of a barbarian than connoisseur, but if it hits and no headache or nausea, I like it, call it whatever color or name you want. Though, yes, the colors make it easier to categorize and purchase/consume.

And I may have a green strain that just might help. Chris of TFH traded me sometime ago and he sent me a 2013 vintage Super Green Bali and it's... incredible!
But I agree with you about fast reds. Those are my preference and what my mother needs as well. Daytime reds, whatever we call them. The Rocket Red is perfect example. Red Tenega from Krratom-OG a few years bag as well.

Absolutely. BUT myths die hard & we've seen everything is basically fake, lies and BS online... Kratom or politics... stuff just perpetuates and goes on and on. Just TRY to convince someone on Reddit that there's really NO "veins" - they'll call you names & repeat the BS they read off 100 vendor websites about "strains and veins".Voice_of_Morgulduin wrote: βTue Jun 06, 2023 7:33 pm I feel like kratom should only be labeled as a red if it is fermented, oxidized, or a blend containing one or both of these ...
