Huperzine A and Memory

Anybody have an experiences with this? I've been searching it a little and came across a guy who reviews legal highs. This was one of his 5 star reviews comparing it to Adderall. Specefically, the Piratall brand. Though this brand seems over priced as you can get Huperzine A much cheaper elsewhere. However, I'm interested in it as having stimulant effects (like Adderall) but also in what it can do long-term for memory and cognition. I have some memory problems due to chronic alcoholism and I am trying to repair it as much as I can. Also, any other recommendations and discussion regarding cognitive enchaining supplements (especially memory) is very much welcome.

Good topic...

I think I know the guy that you are talking about. He is on youtube, tall Persian looking dude? He is always reviewing nootropics. I like his demeanor and his delivery. Also, He doesn't seem bought and sold just yet either.

I have major memory issues. It makes getting in to an argument with your loved one very difficult. Along with that, my gal has that kind of recall that is fucking frightening!! It is just a matter of HOW wrong I will be in any disagreement instead of a possible win.

How do you gauge your memory deficits/improvements? How do you know it was alcoholism? I feel like the 20 yrs I was drinking heavily, my memory seemingly declined regardless. However, I am speaking in terms of already pretty bad to way worse. I have a feeling that an OTC supplement will never be able to improve memory. I think there are too many complex brain activities that comprise a memory.

Ya got me thinking though

I didn't see any videos but it's quite possible it's the same guy. The one I am referring to was on a website.

I have a similar problem with my girlfriend. That may just be because of the differences in what people place importance on. My girlfriend is good at remembering details of conversations regarding her and I. But I'm better at remembering plans and schedules.

I mostly notice it because my short-term can be so bad. I've forgotten things entirely as if they never happened, even sober. On alcohol, it happened constantly. Before I started drinking cast amounts on a daily basis, my short-term memory was simply better. I did not have the problem of forgetting entire conversations. Alcoholism is known to cause such problems. Lack of thiamine being a culprit of that and alcoholics are always very low in it. I mean, I would go days without eating or drinking anything but alcohol. 8 was my maximum. I had many seizures, psychotic episodes, Delirium Tremens and hospital due to my use. So I know it affected my brain.

I'm glad you were able to quit. Kratom is definitely good for that and is leaps and bounds above alcohol in terms of health. I'd need to do more research, but while a supplement might not repair the damage by itself, it could make it easier for you to do the work necessary to do so. And potentially have greater gain than normal in those areas when using it.

Have y’all been able to stop drinking completely ? After about a year on 3x a day Kratom my desire for alcohol decreased significantly. And now a little less than 2 years and I haven’t had nor craved a drink in months ! It almost seems like magic. There is alcohol in my house as my husband is a daily drinker but there seems to be no temptation for me to drink. Has anyone else had the same experience ? It’s a true blessing that I wish I had discovered 20 years ago

But yes my memory sucks also. Unfortunately I received a number of head injuries as a child that have shown up as 3 different spots on my brain. I know that doesn’t help anything because my memory has sucked since I was a preteen.

I'm sorry about your memory. Once I try some Huperzine A I'll let you know how it goes.

I never craved much but Kratom has kept that down. I only have trouble when it's around. Like a few weeks ago my Dad was treating the family to lunch and was paying for everyone's drinks too. That was hard on me but I was ok. I often tell my family not to change anything with their alcohol intake because of me. I don't like that. As long as they don't get trashed I will be fine. I could not have it in the house though. I'd definitely drink it unless there was another alcoholic in the house who needed it.
Kratom has definitely helped though. Gives me something to look forward to. Makes me feel like I am not missing out so much at social gatherings. And makes me want to do more things which help occupy my time.
I am so glad it's working for you! Often, people don't take alcoholism quite as seriously as addiction to other drugs because it's legal. But severe alcohol withdrawal can be deadly and its legality makes it much hard for a person to avoid and stop. So I am very happy you've some so far! :)

Thanks Dylan. Your kind words mean a lot. I hope it gets easier for you also. Stick with it and use the highest quality Kratom that you can find. Plus this forum has been full of stories of strength and inspiration that has helped me a good bit in the past. If you ever need an ear I’m here

YES! I quit drinking entirely! Which is a minor miracle because my alchohol consumption contributed to a lot of problems in the past.

In my case I was ordered by probation to abstain from alchohol, but I made a lot of lifestyle changed during that year, kratom being part of that. By the time I was allowed to drink again I just didn't want to. I've had drinks a few times in social situations since then and 1. I don't enjoy it the same way I used to and 2. It just doesnt come up as something I want to do the rest of the time . I think that kratom regulates opioid receptors similarly to what naltrexone does. they say that naltrexone works with alcohol because of the k-opioid antagonism .

Any update? Some sources say it's a must to cycle huperzine A and not take it daily.

I’ve also been wondering how everyone was doing ?
