Someone made a post about this at the sub and it caught my attention.

Anyone take this? It's supposed to be good for brain function.

Hey HH! I do take it occasionally and it's both mildly mentally and physically simulating for me at least. However like many supplements I find that I start to become tolerant to it and it loses effectiveness if I take it all the time. I also only take about 1/2 the recommended dose because more than that is a little too simulating for me. Keep in mind I already consume a fair amount of caffeine so you may not have the same reaction if you don't regularly use caffeine.

I just looked at the link you posted and 300 is the dose I normally take. I most often see 600mg as the most common recommended dosage.

I suspect that the dosage recommended on the bottle is probably 2 capsules.

The only caffeine I get is 2 cups of jasmine green tea in the morning and another cup at lunchtime.

I was looking through reviews and some people report getting headaches with this. Have you had that problem?

I'll add my opinionsas I started using Alpha GPC Choline about two months ago

So I actually started using this supplement for two reasons: 1) The potential benefits for the brain (and from what I read there does seem to be some studies or evidence, and user reviews, that support some potential benefit) as well as its potential to provide energy for chronic fatigue. And 2) To help with headaches from Adderall and other nootropics

**I want to note I take adderall, prescribed 5 days a week, for Chronic Fatigue due to having Mitochondria Myopathy (and recently diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome though they may have some relation)**

I have been trying to get off adderall, or reduce my usage for some time. My chronic fatigue (I'm 33 years old BTW) is severe and constant, and the adderall is prescribed to help me with energy. I only take it as prescribed, but have been on adderall for 6 years now. I take kratom for pain relief and although it often helps with fatigue, it is often not enough to combat the fatigue and not reliable enough for me to do as much as I need. I take care of both my parents, and work as a Server at the Cheesecake Factory, and I have other goals and ambitions and the chronic fatigue severely impacts how much I am able to do. Thus the adderall.

About two months ago I started looking into nootropics for energy to help potentially reduce/replace adderall (which has well known negative side effects). The two I have so far tried are 1) Adrafinil (Adrafinil is a prodrug; it is primarily metabolized in vivo to modafinil, resulting in very similar pharmacological effects.[3://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrafiniland 2) Noopept

So to bring this back to Alpha GPC-- one of the main complaints with Adrafinil that I read seemed to be headaches. Alpha GPC was suggested to prevent/help with this. My results: Alpha GPC has drastically reduced my headaches from adderall and the nootropics I listed above. Like another poster mentioned, it can be a lot of stimulation. I have been able to cut my adderall usage to 1/3 what I am prescribed using Alpha GPC in combination with Adrafinil (Modafinil is 600$ for prescription without insurance which I don't have  ) and Noopept (not as effective as adrafinil for me).

A key I have found for Alpha GPC is - like someone else mentioned - to cycle its use. I use it a few days on and take a few days off. I mainly only take the Alpha GPC with the nootropics or adderall, so have not tested it enough on its own to see how much energy it provides by itself, but I really have had success with using it in combination especially with Adrafinil.

Hope this helps. I think it's worth a shot to try, and I've had success cycling its use.

Thank you for the information.

I'm going to try it because 1. I have a deathly fear of Alzheimer's and 2. Some of the medications I'm on are anticholinergics and I thought maybe this would sort of cancel that out.

Also, a little extra energy might help, as long as it's nothing like a fast kratom strain. I don't even drink coffee.

I am a lightweight.

I suffer from migraines occasionally but they are most commonly triggered by stress or some particular foods. I've heard like MikeE mentioned AGPC is helpful for some types of headaches and have found this to be true for me when the headaches are related to other noots and or low levels of choline in my diet. However too large of dosing or too frequent of use of the AGPC will eventually trigger migraines for me. I usually keep it to 300mg not more than 5 times a week and it's definitely helpful but doesn't cause me problems.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind. I get the occasional migraine, nothing like what I used to get when I was younger thank goodness, but still not pleasant.

Thanks!

A fantastic compliment to this choline source is Acetyl L Carnitine (ALC), 500 mg per dose. This is exactly the synergistic combo which I have used to completely eliminate the Vyvanse (Amphetamine) from my daily use. I still use this combo on occasion, when additional focus or brain power is required. It can make you edgy, but only if you take more than the recommended daily dose.

Here is the ALC that I use and recommend: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NCOTSWG

I am looking into it. Some people report feeling jittery, that's something I definitely don't want. Thank you!

I am anxiety prone myself, but I found that a regular dose of both rarely causes any issues. Any edginess caused by the above stack should be easily eliminated with 200 mg of Theanine. Also, do not take ALC on its own, without a choline source, as it might trigger a tension headache.

Theanine is from green tea, right? I drink about 4 cups/day of green tea. Strongly steeped.

Yes, but 4 cups is too way too much caffeine for my anxious self. I drink a cup of green tea every morning (Jasmine Pearls), but anymore than that would likely trigger anxiety in me, caffeine is known for that. I also take Theanine by itself, when I need to calm down or sleep, it's 200 mg capsules, I get 365 of them on Amazon for literally $20, keeps me anxiety free the entire year.

This stack feels AMAZING! Seriously, my brain feels 30 years younger. I don't feel edgy at all and I don't feel driven to do something like I would if I were on stimulants. But I can see where it would be a good substitute for prescription stimulants.

Hey hippie, do you still use this same stack? Curious if the effects were useful long-term or if you ran into side effects or tolerance. Use Alpha GPC often as a choline source, but am looking to add L-Carnitine.

I do not, at least not lately. It was just a bit too stimulating for me.

Best choline supplement in my opinion. Dissolves straight into water, can't taste it at all.

Choline supplements like Alpha GPC are needed when using most racetams (like aniracetam, my personal fav - everyone's different) in order to avoid headaches.

Alpha GPC calms the mind and relaxes the nervous system, while at the same time providing more of that magical fluid that goes between and actually allows brain neurons to send signals to one another (scientifically speaking of course :geek: )
