Friendly reminder to be fire safe

Check your smoke alarm batteries. Depending on where you live, you may have radon and / or CO2 detectors as well.

Fire extinguishers - are they up to date? In an easy to grab and use location?

Fire blanket - sometimes works much better, like throw it over the fire on the stove instead of using the canister to make a huge mess.

Coupla years ago, my parents' friend's house burned down due to shoddy electrical work. She was ok, helped out a window by the people who rent another house on the property. The blurb in the newspaper was '80 year old woman escapes fire.'

She had tons of stuff to do, settle with insurance, get money from the incompetent electrician, remove hazardous metals found in the dirt, take care of her dog, etc., but when I went over (I didn't see the burnt out house) about a year later, I couldn't tell it was newly built, everything was exactly the same! Still, a good warning to be safe. I don't want no one's kratom to get toasted.

Good public message. We just got like 3-4 free (installed) fire alarms last spring from some city project, all you had to do was reply -yes- to a txt or postcard (call the phone number) they sent out. Check your local city website for info. on stuff like that. And since we're PSA'ing, I read that the federal govt. (in the U.S.) is going to start offering free (by mail) covid test kits again sometime this month, so if yer in the U.S. and need some, check for those to be available to order soon.

Found it, link below. Stay safe fellow kratomites, the world can be a hostile place sometimes.

Yeah has someone who’s house burned down I can’t agree more. We have a beautiful house now but insurance still owes a lot, and are still making us jump through hoops to get it. We need it to because replacing everything has not been cheap. Though we’re blessed we were able to build back in around a year. We had to take care of the dogs to which was hard cause we had to bring tons of water from my sisters house. All my plants died. It was just a horrible experience I wouldn’t wish on anybody. My mother had to climb out a window to escape because this happened while my dad, and I were in Vegas. It happened because a fan in the attic was the verdict. Losing everything like that except my wonderful mother thank god was humbling experience it changed my perspective a lot, and what really matters. Things can be replaced. As long as my family, and me are in good health I’m a happy man.

Oh wow, glad your mom is okay!
We lost some friends to a house fire several years ago. It was caused by a strand of Christmas lights that were left year long on an artificial plant in their living room. Come to find out, they had ZERO smoke detectors.

The man was like a father to my husband, so we were devastated. He died trying to pull his unconscious wife out of the house. So sad, and to know that smoke detectors could've saved them makes it even sadder!
