The funny thing is- I finally pulled my cheap ass trigger and spent $20 at Kava Kauai based on an old recommendation from this thread.

I haven't dipped in yet. I tried the root from a shop here in Los Angeles. I don't think I did it right and the taste was pretty bad. No discernible head change. Let me know how labrat is, Mike seems to say it is legit.

I’ve been curious about Kava I’ve never experienced it. Trying to do some research on it. I know I’ve really been enjoying Kratom on some of the vendors on here. It has certainly helped with some of my pain issues.

I just received my first order of kava from Bula Kava House. I’m new to kava so I can’t give a review yet but I can say that they shipped the same day I ordered. The order was on my doorstep in two days.

I've tried micronized Kava from Kalm with Kava. I've tried the mints, drinks, etc...I know people talk about reverse tolerance so continued to experiment. But, it just doesn't hit me the way other people describe it. Any potentiators or tips from anyone that enjoys Kava?

From what I've noticed, keep in mind I'm not an expert and have only been drinking kava occasionally for maybe 5 years, kava seems to me to be weaker when I've bought it during the cooler months of the year. It just seems to have less oils in the grind. Some of the best I've had I bought during the summer. I could be completely crazy but it makes some sense to me that much like leaf that there are better times of the year to harvest due to lipid content of the root and thus also better times to buy it There's also a fair amount of mediocre out there so finding the good ones can take a bit of looking. Squanch kava has been really good generally. I bought some about a month ago though and it's good but not nearly as good as what I bought from him last September. Bula Kava House is another good one but as others have said Lab has had some of the best I've ever had this last summer.

I love kava and find it very relaxing. I have tried it from a few places and some have been better than others but I really enjoy it as a way to unwind and relax after a long day.

Kava group on mewe is dead, lol.
Some report kava interferes with kratom.
I feel an aversion to the thought of the taste, even though the actual taste isn't bad.

I've been there... well before COVID anyway.
Bula Kava House operates a full service
Kava Bar, in Portland OR besides their fabulous website, where U can buy many kinds of Kava products. Serious quality!
The Future will be combo Kava/ Kratom bars! Only the confusion about Legal issues/ sourcing issues, keeps more Kratom bars from opening?

Better than kratom IMO.
Didn't end up buying any. Just drank a bunch of alcohol instead lol. Oh well

So the kava group on MeWe is picking up, Labrat has a successor, a wonderful lady who has some of the same sources as Jack.

I drink kava daily and have for years now. I probably should take a break to "bring back the magic" but I do get effects. I use it for basically everything: anxiety, sleep, socializing, muscle relaxation, and just to chill. For vendors, I like Gourmet Hawaiian Kava, Kava Vinaka, and Kalm with Kava the most.

I've found Skullcap extract to be a decent substitute. Kava being more euphoric, or uplifting, while Skullcap seeming to having more of a physical effect, and that working to relax the mind. I buy the powdered extracts of that, Lemon Balm, and Passion Flower, and they work out to having a low cost per serving.
I haven't taken Valerian Root Extract in a while, but for those taking Kava for anxiety and not recreationally, it might be a good substitute as well.
But good Kava is in a league of its own. I enjoyed a couple of full spectrum extracts of it, but they aren't what I'd call cheap.
I still have my bag for using traditional Kava powder, but I got out of the habit of using it. Probably when Kava prices jumped due to sudden popularity.

Just ordered from LabRat’s successor. Some Fijian and Somoan. I’ll report back but it’s supposed to be all the same stuff he got. There’s actually a site how too which is nice. ShieldKava.com

Any problems with kratom being less enjoyable due to kava use? Seems to be a common problem.
GHK is good stuff, but expensive!

There's a ton of variation with kava, I'd suggest you start with instant. It never used to hit for me when I first heard about it and tried it as extracts. Even today good extracts which work well for others don't for me... fickle like kratom. I'm not an experienced person with kava, but have had some which were good and focusing, social, and some which were strong intoxicants, kinda stumbly drunk.
Keep trying, and maybe you want to learn about the kavalactones and which would produce the effects you want. Bula!

Love me some instant, but can't afford - 100g = 2 sessions = $35+

We usually do Kava once a day in the evening. I usually buy a Kilo of Micronized from a Kava bar to keep around. When we first started Kava we would do it multiple times a day but got burned out and went to once a day, but that could be from the same strain.

Doses vary from person to person, session to session, batch to batch, type of grind. It's kinda similar to beer - some nights you're good with 1, sometimes you wanna tank 5 bottles. Different kavas have different effects, some euphoric, some relaxing, some anxiety reducing, some socially talking, some krunk. I'm new to kava, but there are different chemotypes which produce the varying feelings. I;m trying to learn about them now. Shieldkava.com has links to info.
They wouldn't work with oblates unless you're using an extract.
Also gotta factor in most peeps feel little until after they use kava for several sessions, kinda like how some people dont get high on mj their first few times.

I have taken kava with oblate and I don't recommend taking kava in that way.
You get VERY dehydrated and it's a lot of plant matter so constipation is a risk. Especially if you're taking kratom already.

I've used kava for a couple years now, well before kratom. For me it enhances kratom. I always did the traditional method but recently got an alluball and it's been life changing. Super easy and quick, just a few shakes

I heard it wasn't nearly as effective since you have way less agitation with the ball. Seems to be the consensus around the kava forums I read, but I haven't tried it myself. What were you doing with the traditional method?

I think it's just tradition with kava circle type gatherings vs modern convenience and commercialization. Did you know the alubal inventor is an exNFL player? He wanted his teammates to be able to try kava without the time for a ceromonial experience.

I don't think it's the same. Agitation is very important, even if the kavalactones are water soluble. You're never going to get as much agitation with an Aluball or tea bag than if you're actually kneading the kava.
